BOOK CLUB: Pineapple Street
G’day, book clubbers! This month, we read Jenny Jackson’s debut novel, Pineapple Street. Pineapple Street follows three women in an old money Brooklyn Heights family: one was born with money, one who married into it, and one who wants to give it all away. Over the course of the novel we learn about the intricacies of the Stockton family’s dynamic, how they each feel about their relationship with wealth, and whether or not you can ever really break out of a mold your parents created for you.  Big thanks to Audible for making this episode possible. If you’re keen to check out audiobooks, podcasts and audible originals, download the Audible app and start listening today. The prison of “never serving”
G’day, friends! On today’s show: The Met Gala of course! It’s our favourite time of year when Jason Derulo is falling down the stairs and the celebrities are doing their very best work on the red carpet. So, what did we make of the spectacle? Then, those Sydney Sweeney-Glen Powell cheating rumours just got more confusing, James Corden has officially said cya to late-night TV, and the “Aussie royal wedding” that hijacked the news cycle on the weekend. This week, Mich recommended ‘Anna Wintour on Karl Lagerfeld, Kim Kardashian and those Bill Nighy rumours’ in The Telegraph. Zara recommended Free Food For Millionaires by Min Jin Lee, and ‘Not caring about your job: freedom or misery?’ in Haley Nahman’s newsletter Maybe Baby. BOOK CLUB: Vladimir
Happy Saturday, book clubbers! This month, we read ‘Vladimir’ by Julia May Jonas. This novel is told from the perspective of a deliciously incisive narrator: a popular English professor whose husband, a charismatic teacher at the same small liberal arts college, is under investigation for his inappropriate relationships with his former students. The couple has long had a mutual understanding when it comes to their extramarital pursuits, but with these new allegations, life has become far less comfortable for them both. And when our narrator becomes increasingly infatuated with Vladimir, a celebrated, married young novelist who’s just arrived on campus, their tinder-box world comes dangerously close to exploding. Big thanks to Elite Eleven and their brand new podcast network, Elite Eleven podcasts, for making this episode possible. The coronation, brought to you by American Idol
Hello hello! On today’s show: the celebrity festival of celebrity festivals, Coachella, is here, and there are two questions on everyone’s minds: are Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello back on, and what the hell happened to Frank Ocean’s headline set? Then! Meghan Markle won’t be at King Charles’s coronation, Lili Reinhart is trolling her ex Cole Sprouse, and sorry, Zara smells a rat with Matthew McConaughey’s new press tour. This week, Zara recommended this obituary for crime writer Anne Perry, as well as the memoir ‘This Is Not a Pity’ by Abi Morgan. Mich recommended Chrissy Swan on The Imperfects and ‘When academic Kylie Moore-Gilbert met comedian Sami Shah’ in The Sydney Morning Herald. Big thanks CeraVe and their new Blemish Control range, available exclusively at Chemist Warehouse, for making this episode possible. Want to support our show? Thank God Our Petition Worked
G’day, friends! On today’s show: Two weeks after announcing his engagement to a woman named Ann Lesley Smith, Rupert Murdoch is back on the market ladies!!! Then, the reports about Em Rata’s ex-husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard, are nothing short of disgraceful, two local Love Island stars are in a public slinging match, and how Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are trying to raise a family of anti-nepo-babies. This week, Zara recommended Alex Cooper on The Diary Of A CEO and ‘My Marriage Was Never the Same After That’ in The Cut. Mich recommended Anna Kendrick on Armchair Expert and ‘Clare Stephens: On Being Jealous Of Her Best Friend’ from the But Are You Happy? podcast. Big thanks to Elite Eleven for making this episode possible. Elite Eleven hopes to open many more stores across Australia in the coming months so stay tuned.
