"Aiming High" - with Chelsey Logan (from Killyleagh) - Education Project Officer at Brentford Football Club - on the Chris Scott Show, FM105 Down Community Radio - Wednesday 7th September 2022 (7-8pm)This week Chris is in conversation with 24 year-old Chelsey Logan from Killyleagh, County  Down, Northern Ireland who works with Brentford Football Club as an Education Project Officer. Chelsey, who was interviewed recently on BBC Radio London, is a former pupil at Blackwater Integrated College and SERC Downpatrick. She talks to Chris about her journey from school to University and her career path to date. In 2017 she attended St Marys University Twickenham where she graduated in 2020 with a BSc(Hons) in Coaching, Science and Physical Education.Chelsey commenced her career as an Educational Tutor with Harlequins Rugby Club, a premiership club based in London. She delivered BTEC and GCSE qualifications to a range of NEET and Special Needs learners aged 16-20 years old.In March 2021 Chelsey continued to follow her dreams and accepted the position of Education Programme Coordinator with Brentford. Chelsey has never forgotten her roots.“If it wasn’t for Blackwater and its teaching staff, I wouldn’t have found my passion for sports and education which enabled me to further my own education and find my dream job.”When asked about a word of encouragement for those who are following behind Chelsey told Chris - "Just don't let anybody stand in your way and tell you that you can't do something, because if you really put your mind to it and put the hours of practice, not just in sport but in education or in anything you want to do, then you will reap the rewards after that...."She is certainly an inspiration to those young people who want to follow their dreams!The Castlewellan Studio Players return with their production "Ice Cubes and Lettuce" written by Mark Asante, one of the Players.  This is the seventh episode to be broadcast on your community radio, FM105 and is titled "Thursday, Friday....nappy days."  The music in the show on tonight's programme includes The Beatles, Dermot Kennedy, Simple Minds and Top Loader.  This will be Chris's penultimate show with FM105 Down Community Radio.Tune in to the show each Wednesday night (7 - 8pm). Well worth a visit!!Chris also chats to 14 year old ZacMac, from Lurgan.  This kid is destined to go places in the music world. This young talented guitarist, singer and songwriter was one of a number of  music acts to perform at the Corner Stone Music Festival held at the Dufferin Coaching Inn and Hall on 16th July. It was organised by Conal Montgomery and monies raised were donated to LCCL & Pop up Art in Downpatrick.  Chris took the opportunity to speak to Zac Mac before his gig.Also performing at the festival was Killyleagh's Rachel McCullough who has an amazing singing voice. It goes on general release tomorrow, 18th August, 2022.  Stephen first appeared on the show back in February 2022 to talk about his debut book - "Family of Killers - Memoirs of an Assassin." He talked about his early years in Portadown, Northern Ireland and his relocation to Guelph, Ontario. Stephen talks to Chris about his new book, writing ventures and a chance meeting with a retired military man who had previously worked at the Pentagon.  This gentleman provided valuable assistance to Stephen whilst carrying out his background research for his book. They are members of Reely Jiggered, described as a Celtic folk fusion band from Scotland.You have to hear them to believe it!! Their music, inspired by Celtic folk, is a fusion of funk, rock, pop and jazz.And you can hear them in action on the show. Chris will be playing a number of their tracks from  their third album titled "Tricky Terrain" and he will be talking to them about their first time on stage in Northern Ireland at The Black Box, Belfast on Sunday 31st July, 2022 at 7pm! Brian Cassidy, president of the Belfast Burns Association, pops in to talk about the gig in The Black Box.  It has been organised by both the Belfast Burns Association and St. Andrews Society Belfast. Reely Jiggered are supported by singer/songwriter Brendan Monaghan. All proceeds from the event are to raise awareness and support for Motor Neurone Disease.Reely Jiggered have headlined at many international festivals in Italy, Germany, Mexico and Japan, to name but a few.  Alison graduated with a Masters in Performance with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2013.  She is also a Director of the National Junior Choir of Northern Ireland.  Her singing debut was at the age of 16 with the Royal Scottish national Orchestra in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.  She has performed for the Queen, Prince Charles, and the First Minister for Scotland.  Alison has sang the Scottish national Anthem at Scottish International Rugby games.  The list of accolades are endless!Fiona is a radio presenter with three radio stations. Andrew talks to Chris about how he was asked by the Queen's Pageantmaster to compose a fanfare which would herald the lighting of beacons across the Commonwealth to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.  Andrew also talks about the background and work of the historic Hillsborough Fort Guard.Chris visits Killyleagh on Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th June to speak to a range of people involved in the town's celebrations.You can listen in to Chris talking to Catherine Dodsworth from Wellington Memorial Band who plays the bugle call, Gawn Rowan Hamilton - the Lord Lieutenant of County Down, local resident Jim Lindsay who was recently awarded an M.B.E.  and Kathy Black from the Eden Project.Chris also talks to some of the young singers and musicians who displayed their talents at the festival. Loreena has over 14 million records sold worldwide.Loreena composed and performed a feature song for Disney's "The Santa Clause" in 1994  and a key song for the Disney film "Tinker Bell" in 2008.  She also has a number of film soundtrack contributions in Hollywood productions.Loreena is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Manitoba. In 2002 and 2012 she was the recipient of Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals and in 2013 she was appointed to the rank of Knight of the National Order of Arts and Letters by the Republic of France.
