Rev. Sally Wright shares, "The best baby gift I received was a retired pediatric nurse offering to stay overnight and keep watch over my twin three-month-old babies. What a gift to have someone remain present with my children for one whole, uninterrupted night of sleep for me! In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asked his disciples to stay awake with him and pray. The poor disciples could not seem to stay awake, unlike the nurse who kept my kids all night. There is a close connection between presence and prayer. If Jesus can ask the disciples to be present and to pray, we can take his example and ask for it, too. Let’s explore together.”
Our scripture reading is Mark 14:32-41a.
