Ideas Have Consequences

Disciple Nations Alliance

Everything that we see around us is the product of ideas, of ideologies, of worldviews. That's where everything starts. Worldviews are not all the same, and the differences matter a lot. How do you judge a tree? By its fruits. How do you judge a worldview? By its physical, tangible, observable fruit. The things it produces. Ideas that are noble and true produce beauty, abundance, and human flourishing. Poisonous ideas produce ugliness. They destroy and dehumanize. It really is that simple. Welcome to Ideas Have Consequences, the podcast of Disciple Nations Alliance, where we prepare followers of Christ to better understand the true ideas that lead to human flourishing while fighting against poisonous ideas that destroy nations. Join us, and prepare your minds for action!

Beauty: Abortion’s Antidote with Sami Parker
Discover a vision for a culture that recognizes the innate beauty of every human life as we journey with Sami Parker of Live Action through the frontlines of pro-life advocacy. Witness firsthand how Live Action is challenging the prevailing worldviews promoting abortion, utilizing social media to spark transformative discussions that transcend the screen into the very fabric of society. The predominant narrative or story of our time does not recognize God, sees humans as mere animals, and labels unrestrained sex as a "human right." Look around; these ideas have manifested into the wasteland surrounding families, relationships, sexuality, and procreation, and the list drags on. As Christians, this pains us because we know there's a better story, a better design. One that does not make any room for harming any innocent human's life. The biblical worldview recognizes the beauty in every aspect of God's created order. But do we? Do we not only recognize God's better story but strive to consistently live in it and model it to a hurting world? This episode is a call to Christians to don the full armor of their faith, merging the Gospel's transformative power with active cultural engagement to foster a society that not only protects, but cherishes life. Let's join forces to defend the defenseless against the greatest injustices of our age and celebrate the innate beauty and truth of life through the power of storytelling and education.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

Full-Time: Work and the Meaning of Life with David Bahnsen
We have an active, working, creative God who created humanity to be like Him. As such, our daily work should be a source of meaning and purpose in our lives. Yet, even among believers, work is often approached as a burden that remains an unfortunate means to a better end, like the weekend or even retirement. In contrast, the Bible often equates our work with our worship. When did we forget this? Over the last decade, the rate of prime-aged men in the U.S. not working has been lower than it was during the Great Depression! However, unlike during the Great Depression, most of these men are choosing not to work. In the words of today's guest, we are undergoing an epidemic of worklessness. Why is this? What happened? Is the church partially to blame for this? Today’s guest David Bahnsen has an inspiring biblical worldview that encompasses all areas of his life. He is simultaneously named one of the top financial advisors in America by Barron’s, Forbes and the Financial Times while teaching and writing about the integration of faith and economics on the side. In his newest book, Full-Time: Work and the Meaning of Life, Bahnsen makes the case that our work plays an integral part in providing meaning and purpose into our lives and is one of our most important avenues of discipleship and influence. This discussion is for you if you are searching for ways to integrate theology into every part of your daily work. View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

Elon Musk Thinks the West Needs Christianity - Why? With Vishal Mangalwadi
Is God using Vishal Mangalwadi to disciple Jordan Peterson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Tom Holland, and Elon Musk? Today, we discover the transformative power of Christianity on Western civilization through the eyes of Indian Bible scholar and good friend Vishal Mangalwadi. Join us as Mangalwadi unravels the often-overlooked impact of the Bible on modern life. Although many in the West have taken values such as freedom, justice, free speech, forgiveness, the list goes on, for granted, a future in which these values are canceled is becoming a reality. We've recently noticed a resurgence in people who realize these values are essential to Western civilization’s future and go on to connect these virtues directly to the Bible. In the last couple of years, Mangalwadi has played an interesting role in helping non-Christian leaders such as Jordan Peterson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Tom Holland, and even Elon Musk make this connection between the rich history of Western civilization and the Bible. During this discussion, you will hear Mangalwadi's thoughts on why this revival in Biblical values is happening now, how Christians can support and encourage this movement, and an admonishment to hold fast to a biblical vocabulary under pressure. Our conversation is an invitation to reassess the past and reclaim the biblical underpinnings of Western achievements, providing a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of our civilization's foundations. This episode is a compelling examination of the intertwining threads of faith, history, ideas, and the future trajectory of Western civilization.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website
Why Jordan Peterson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali & Others are Turning to Christianity

Why Jordan Peterson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali & Others are Turning to Christianity
The Western world has been described as a cut flower. This flower was beautiful and flourishing while rooted in a Judeo-Christian worldview, and yet, as it became increasingly secular and rejected God, it cut itself off from its roots. Today, the flower still looks good, but it will soon wither and die if nothing changes. In this episode, we look at the increasing number of former atheists, Muslims, and agnostics who are calling out the erosion of Western civilization along with its former values of human rights, justice, and freedom. These people–including Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Jordan Peterson, Douglas Murray, Tom Holland, and more–are understanding that these Western values came from the Bible. If Western society rejects God, it will also lose the virtuous and moral framework that created its foundation. This realization is leading to an awakening. It is a unique journey that has led people from an analysis of the culture and the West to the cross.Join us as we unpack the roots that nourished the West. We consider the incredibly good impact the Bible can have on culture and the devastation we can anticipate when it’s rejected. We live in a pivotal moment in history. The consequences of rejecting God are evident in our society, providing us with a fresh opportunity to promote goodness, truth, and beauty, rooted in the Bible once again.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website
