The Picking Daisies podcast is a community for like-minded moms who want to discuss everything motherhood-related. Its host is mom-of-three Mary Hendricks.
During the pandemic, Mary went online, seeking support as she felt alone and isolated. At the time, she had two small children. Mary felt discouraged by all the unrelatable content on social media. So, she decided to create a podcast for herself and other moms like her.
Mary began The Very Mary Life brand to share her honest thoughts on motherhood. The Picking Daisies podcast is Mary's way of sharing supportive conversations with her community. She wants listeners to leave feeling seen and supported. Topics include many aspects of motherhood, marriage, and sex.
Mary's friend and fellow mom influencer Katie Costa joins as cohost twice a month. They talk about everything from "Burnout Season" to feeling overwhelmed as parents. One episode discusses the challenges of dealing with periods while parenting. At the start, Katie paused while her kids, who should have been in bed, knocked on her door. It's real moments like these that make the podcast so relatable. In the episode, Mary talks about feeling emotional on her period and needing to cry on the phone to her sister. She explains how her periods last so much longer after having her third child. The sisters talk about feelings of imposter syndrome. They also discuss navigating emotions on social media.
Along with inviting fellow moms to share their stories, Mary invites dads to join her on the podcast. Kendall Smith, author of The Rookie Father, discusses why he wants to help first-time dads. He explains how it can be particularly challenging if those dads never had a father figure. How do they know what type of dad they want to be? Kendall talks about equality within a relationship and navigating friction in parenthood.
The Picking Daisies podcast is informative and supportive. Host Mary wants to share her experiences on the most relatable topics. New episodes premiere every Tuesday and Friday.
