Navigating Healing and Ego in Mother-Daughter Relationships
This week, Abigail and I explore two major components of our mother-daughter journey. The impact they have on the mother-daughter relationship is significant. I would venture to say on any relationship, but here we talk about the mother-daughter one. Join us as we jump into healing and ego. We peel back the layers of pain, scars, and learned behavior that have impacted our relationship. It hasn’t been easy, but we’ve realized that healing is crucial to our journey. Get ready for some “real talk”, personal stories, and how we embraced the healing process together. We also dive headfirst into ego and how it affects the way we connect. It brings defensiveness, judgment, and the constant struggle to be right. Don’t worry, ego can be tamed. It’s all about embracing imperfections and finding common ground. So, we do our best to check our ego at the door when navigating our relationship.Guess what? Our journey is far from over, healing and ego work are ongoing processes, and so are we! Unpacking Codependency in the Mother Daughter Relationship
Here we go, friends! We've finally come to the point in our discussions where we start unpacking one of the heaviest pieces of baggage attached to the Mother & Daughter relationship: Codependency. We know... the word 'codependency' just reeks with negativity and it can be an extremely difficult subject to broach. That is exactly why we chose to talk about it! Codependency is an innate and inevitable piece of our relationship right from the start. Recognizing and accepting this is a key part to being able to move away from it. Today, we start discussing exactly what codependency is, how it plays a role in our relationships with our mothers and daughters, and how to recognize it in your own relationships. We also share our experience with this baggage - because we have absolutely been there! This is only the beginning, though! Next week's episode we will dive into how we began stepping away from the codependent nature of our relationship and the difference that has made in both of our lives. This is where the real gold lies!Mentioned in this episode:"What is Codependency?
