Our Editor's Take

Partially Plastic is a podcast for people who are considering cosmetic surgery. Kelley Perez is not a medical professional. She is a person who went through several plastic surgeries, and not all of them ended well. The host learned a lot from researching the industry after her surgeries. She discovered new information that could have prevented her misfortune. Perez decided to start a podcast where she could share this valuable knowledge. She hopes others can avoid bad experiences by being more educated about the topic.

Perez is from Tampa. She traveled to Miami to get a tummy tuck. The surgery itself went well. However, problems started to occur during her recovery. There was no aftercare as Perez got the surgery in a doctor's office. She had to book a hotel room with her friend to recover. During that time, Perez had a bad reaction to the blood thinners. She fainted several times and hit her head on the bathtub. She says she felt like she was going to die. Perez shared her traumatic story on social media and realized that this was not an unusual occurrence. A lot of people have complications with plastic surgeries. Individuals have experienced issues both in America and abroad. Perez uses her podcast to share these stories to help people make better decisions.

Partially Plastic presents honest and vulnerable conversations. Perez speaks to people who traveled to Matamoros, Mexico, for surgery. She asks them about their fears before going, their bad experiences, and what they learned. There are also episodes where Perez invites experts onto the podcast to educate listeners. There is an interview with plastic surgery nutritionist Kylie Amanda. The guest provides advice on how to recover faster after a procedure.

The host interviews numerous plastic surgeons on the show. They discuss issues surrounding plastic surgery, such as body dysmorphia and patient advocacy. Other episodes include tips for medical tourism and picking the right clinic. Listeners looking for thorough advice regarding plastic surgery may find Partially Plastic useful.
