INTERVIEW | ‘Let's Take the Fight to Them’: Why This Legal Group Keeps Suing Biden Administration
An organization called America First Legal has filed at least two dozen lawsuits against the Biden administration. "We need to fight for the American people, advance conservative principles, and be there to really make a difference," Gene Hamilton, vice president and legal counsel for America First Legal, says.  Hamilton served as counselor to the attorney general at the Justice Department during the Trump administration and he recalls growing weary of various leftist groups filing lawsuits to block President Donald Trump's agenda. “It's a little bit of an exaggeration …," Hamilton says, "but it's almost close to the truth that every time we'd have a press conference, there would be some organization that would file a lawsuit representing somebody to get us enjoined before we could even get done with the press conference to get things off the ground." When President Joe Biden came to office in January 2021, Hamilton and Stephen Miller, who was a senior advisor in the Trump administration, decided to “do what they do.” “Let's take the fight to them,” Hamilton says of America First Legal’s approach to fighting the policies of the Left. “Let's be equipped and ready to bring the battles to the Left, wherever it may be, whether that's in the government, whether that's in big business, big education, wherever.”Hamilton joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss how America First Legal is fighting the Biden administration'seffort to redefine sex. He also explains how the legal group is looking into Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecution of Trump.Colorado Wants to Force Her To Create LGBTQ Wedding Websites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfk1q-EXNDE Hosted on Acast. INTERVIEW | White House Has 'Weaponized' ESG Movement, State Financial Officers Foundation CEO Says
The chief executive officer of the State Financial Officers Foundation says "we never really saw the [environmental, social, and governance] movement weaponized in a way that this White House and administration [have] weaponized it.""Certainly, fund managers like BlackRock, State Street, Vanguard have weaponized it, and so it's really just been in the last two years that we've seen them use funds, like pension retirement funds, in a way that leverages those dollars to push these social agendas," Derek Kreifels says of the so-called ESG movement."And so, our simple premise and argument has been, if most Americans knew how their pension fund dollars were being invested, they would probably be appalled and shocked," Kreifels says. "And so, we launched a campaign called 'Our Money, Our Values.'"Kreifels adds: It's available at our website OurMoneyOurValues.com, where we're trying to educate Main Street America on the dangers of ESG investing and what they can do specifically at the retail level to go to their neighborhood financial adviser and ask certain questions about the kind of fund managers that are managing their dollars and how to change that if there are companies that are managing dollars that they don't necessarily agree with their actions.Kreifels joins today's episode of "The Daily Signal Podcast" to further discuss environmental, social, and governance policies, some of the ways that the State Financial Officers Foundation is helping states navigate the ESG issues and what resources are available to them, and what the media are missing in its coverage of ESG.  Hosted on Acast. INTERVIEW | Blackburn Bill Offers Parents ‘Toolbox’ Needed ‘to Help Monitor’ What Kids See Online
A bipartisan bill “would give parents that toolbox that they need to help monitor what their children are seeing in the virtual space,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn says.“Kids are being exposed to things in the virtual space that we would never expose them to in the physical space, so it’s important for parents to have that toolbox, and it’s important to put the responsibility on these social mediaplatforms,” says Blackburn, R-Tenn., who on May 2 reintroduced the Kids Online Safety Act with Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. “That is what this legislation does,” Blackburn says. “It requires these platforms to open up those algorithms and make them available not only to parents, but also to researchers, so that there can be a monitoring of the harms that children are exposed to.”The legislation was initially introduced in February 2022 and unanimously passed the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee in July, according to the Tennessee senator’s office. However, “the clock ran out before we got it off the floor,” Blackburn says.Blackburn joins today’s episode of “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the legislation and how its requirements would be implemented. She also discusses the end of the public health measure known as Title 42, and how that will affect illegal immigration. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
