Philippians 3:13-14, "Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
We often let those things which are behind us distract us and affect our daily attitudes, whether they be good things or bad things. Looking at what is in the past often keeps us from what God has for us in the future.
It is a deception to live either in the past or in the future; God wants us to press on in the present because the present is where eternity touches us now. Paul knew that a race is won only in the present moment, not in the past or in the future.
