My featured guest is Michael Plansky. He talks openly about a pivotal time in his life. As a first time men's head basketball coach at Salve Regina University, he was readying the team for practice before they were to start the game when he found out his son Max had been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Max was 9 months old, Michael was 5 months into his head coaching career. Standing before a group of fit able-bodied young men, he started his usual practice and warm-up, but this time was different. As he began to tell the team of Max's diagnosis, he began to cry, causing many players to tear up. A few minutes in he told them how they needed a good practice, because Max would never have a chance to have a good practice. Max was an inspiration to the players. We discuss the time when Michael left coaching and Max lost the interaction with the players, withdrew, and his physical condition worsened. This changed in 2013 when Max became a part of Northeastern University basketball team.
