RUNWITHALLI LIVE host Coach Alli shares a podcast for all runners and aspiring runners. On the show, Alli talks with running professionals and amateur runners. She also interviews sources in the world of running from trainers to nutritionists.
In one episode, Alli talks with Dr. Michael Yessis, a training expert. He is a repeat guest on RUNWITHALLI LIVE. She begins one episode by asking Michael how a runner should prepare for a marathon. He recommends paying attention to how their feet hit the ground. Some runners’ legs go forward, some backward, and some remain stationary. He emphasizes that technique is a vital part of training for runners.
Alli chats on the podcast with food writer and runner Shikha Kaiwar. They talk about her managing a quad injury and training for a race. They agree about the value of patience and consistency. Alli, who coached Shikha, believes in a holistic approach to running. This includes physical, mental, and emotional aspects. After an injury Shikha switched her routine to shorter, less intense training sessions. She says it felt strange at first, but she was able to appreciate the new regimen.
Fellow coach Denise and Alli discuss the Chicago Marathon and why it’s unique. Much of what they discuss relates to the energy of the crowd and the spectators. They liken this energy to electricity. This sense of support and celebration is powerful within the running community. In another podcast episode, Alli talks to 1964 Boston Marathon fifth-place finisher Hal Higdon. The two connect about the value of generosity among runners. He is grateful for the level of notoriety he’s achieved.
RUNWITHALLI LIVE is a spirited and motivational podcast. Most episodes are between 20 and 50 minutes long.
