Under the Sisterhood podcast will honor female experiences. During each episode, our host Elizabeth Elfenbein meets with women ages 18 to 100+ and has intimate conversations to get under the hood of their individual journeys through womanhood, with the intention to see and hear one another and hold space for female expression. Together, we dive into many aspects of the female experience, creating an outlet for women to share their stories, their ideas, their creation and their wisdom. Bringing in guests of many generations, cultures and backgrounds, we approach historical issues of women’s empowerment and open dialogue for new perspectives on women’s embodiment across cultures and worldviews.

Francilia is a thought leader, a staunch advocate for diversity in procurement, development, and management, and the founder and CEO of RF Wilkins Consultants. and the Founder and CEO of AYO Labs the nation’s first modern-day, African American women-owned accelerator.To date, Francilia has led RFW in raising more than $900 million for clients, completing more than 1000 unique projects and growing into the ranks of the top .1% of management consulting firms, owned by an African American woman in the United States. In 2020, she was awarded 3.5M from the City of New York and has since raised 14.5M which she will be leveraging to build AYO Labs anchored in a 40,000-square-foot contract manufacturing facility. The project will scale more than 500 businesses annually and create more than 400 jobs citywide. Ms. Wilkins Rahim is a sought-after speaker on equity and inclusion, minority & women business development, and the creation of economic opportunities for disadvantaged communities and the diversification of corporate America.  Francilia serves on various boards including Greater Allen Development Corporation,  Allen Community Non-Profit Programs, St. John’s University’s Tobin College of Business, and New York State’s Housing and Community Renewal’s Multifamily Advisory Council. The VRA is crucial for the Eastern Region's rural communities. This hospital is more than a healthcare center; it's a beacon of hope for millions in the surrounding areas. Grace helps people in and around the community with maternal health, delivering babies, and with other medical and access needs. She has been serving this community for several years and the hospital authorities look at her as a leader in their organization.She is also the Founder of a-zqualityhealthfoundation.com a not-for-profit that provides health insurance and health programming for communities in need. Grace not only supports the maternal health experience she and her organization are also leading and supporting women’s health education programs such as Cervical Cancer Prevention Programs, Breast Cancer Screening programs, and more. Author of seven books and numerous chapters, articles, and journals for popular and professional audiences, Dale is a featured speaker who lectures and leads seminars worldwide. For her entire career she has served as a guest expert/consultant to the media, and for 22 years, appeared as a regular guest expert on NBC’s TODAY  and CNN.  She created and hosted “Dr. Dale’s Life Issues”, a 48-episode talk show series about relationships, broadcast on JTN and PBS.Dale has a private psychology practice in New York City and has been a member of, and advisor to several nonprofit national and local non-profit boards, whose foci are literacy, tolerance, women’s health, wellness, child protection, and community action. She is particularly proud of her 25-year association with Jumpstart for Young Children, from whose board she recently retired after serving twenty-two years, since its founding, and for whom she served as the National Spokesperson for their Read for the Record initiative, launched on NBC’s TODAY show. Today we’re getting under the hood of Dr. Kattayoun Kordy, a mother, daughter, sister, friend, adventurer, mentor, leader, scientist, big pharma executive, and physician passionate about advocating for women's and children’s health and endlessly in pursuit of curiosity. Kattayoun is the Head of Rare Disease and Maternal-Fetal Clinical Development at Johnson and Johnson. Triple-board certified in general pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology & hepatology, and clinical pharmacology, her journey in medicine started off traveling the world providing HIV clinical care in developing countries from the Andes Mountains in Ecuador and Malawi to Thailand and rural South Africa. Her love of the transformative impact of science and medicine led her to pursue an academic career in pediatric liver transplantation and gastroenterology in prominent pediatric transplant centers in the country. She ran her own translational research lab studying the intersection of HIV and the gut, and the pharmacologic interventions preventing infection. Her appreciation of the power of research led her to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry, and the foundation of her career has been informed by her belief that drug development enables her to more effectively work in service to save millions of lives on a global scale.Kattayoun’s pharmaceutical career started in Novartis, leading innovative drug development strategies on a wide range of pediatric diseases across indications ranging from ultra-rare conditions to diseases with significant burdens on childhood mortality such as malaria. She transitioned to Johnson and Johnson to take on new and challenging areas of developing medicines for rare diseases and maternal-fetal conditions, including treating pregnant women to prevent poor fetal/neonatal outcomes. She's held roles at companies such as Essex Investment Management, Bank of America Securities, Novartis Diagnostics, Applied Biosystems (sold to Life Technologies Corp.) as well as at venture-backed life science companies such as VitaPath Genetics, Singulex, Raindance Technologies (sold to Bio-Rad), and Linkage Biosciences (sold to Thermo Fisher). In 2010, Linda started angel investing with two of her Harvard Business School classmates, focusing on female-founded startups. Today we’re getting under the hood with Mette Dyhrberg a mother, daughter, sister, friend, women’s advocate and the CEO and founder of Mymee, a leader in personalized trials and care for autoimmune non-responders, and a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years experience in startups and building businesses.Mette’s lifelong journey with autoimmune disease started at age 14 and included managing several diagnoses such as psoriatic arthritis and Sjögren’s syndrome. After testing the best that modern medicine had to offer and hearing from experts that “there is nothing more we can do”, she decided to take her health into her own hands. An economist by training, Mette began collecting and analyzing her own data until she could directly correlate her symptoms to external factors in the exposome that were triggering her flares. Sixteen months later, Mette was able to reduce her symptoms, successfully bringing herself into remission to improve her quality of life. In 2013, she filed her first patent, now cited by companies like Apple and officially began the journey to help others with uncontrolled autoimmune disease flares, ultimately founding Mymee in 2017. She is particularly passionate about women’s health and a proud Board Member and Advisor to Womed, a company changing the paradigm of women’s health through targeted treatments, tailored to women’s needs. As part of her activities within Bio-Up, Elsy is also a board member of several other companies. She chairs TreeFrog, an innovative cell therapy company with a program in Parkinson’s Disease, and she is also an independent board member of HealthTech companies in cell & gene therapy, oncology, and digital health, and of FTI Consulting, a global business consulting firm. Previously Elsy was Executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer at Cellectis, a French biotechnology company focused on gene editing and its applications in oncology. Today we’re getting under the hood with Marie Wislande Cherise, a mother, wife, sister, aunt, women’s advocate, student, community resource specialist, and nurse resource assistant.Marie was born and raised in Haiti. After high school, she traveled to the Dominican Republic to pursue an undergraduate program in computer science at the Universidad Catholica Santo Domingo and later graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. Over the years Marie traveled back and forth to her home country, Haiti ultimately settling in Connecticut where she has been working in healthcare for over 12 years as a Nursing Assistant and Nurse Resource Assistant at various health systems. She currently works in a Connecticut hospital as an NRA as well as at City Hall as a Community Resource Specialist serving her community while continuing her studies in social work. Marie was recognized at Greenwich Hospital with the Great Catch Award for modeling HRO safety behaviors and taking action to improve patients’ safety. Her passion lies in helping change people's lives. During COVID-19 Marie felt the need to get out and help swab people, she wanted to be part of the covid 19 solution and be part of the change when a lot of people were uncertain about the future. She was recognized in her local newspaper for her efforts. At this time she also started working remotely for a translation company where she could apply her multi-linguistic skills (Marie speaks 4 languages) to be able to hear urgent stories and help serve her Haitian community, she knew she must use her voice, for those who cannot hear. And this is where her vocation to become a social worker began. Marie is always for the fight against the mistreatment of women and anything that she can do to help improve the lives of women in society, She is for it, as a feminist. Dr. Kathy Overbeke on supporting daughters in the family business.
Today we are getting under the hood with Dr. Kathy Overbeke, a mom, daughter, sister, wife, friend, entrepreneur, executive coach, family business advisor, international speaker, and advocate for women.  She is passionate about raising awareness of gender bias in family businesses and helping daughters and families understand the drivers, effects (including mental health effects), and advantages of resolving this unrecognized and tough issue.Overbeke co-founded and operated two businesses for over 25 years.  Her career path pivoted in her late 50s when she grew curious about the role of daughters in family businesses.  She returned to school, entered the Doctor of Management program at Case Western Reserve University, and conducted empirical research on daughters in family businesses while studying leadership development and other aspects of management.  She has published her research in peer-reviewed scholarly journals and has presented her research internationally.  Overbeke has also written articles for popular publications such as Psychology Today.Since completing her doctorate, Overbeke has worked with family businesses addressing daughters’ roles and helping owners keep the entrepreneurial fire alive while maintaining family harmony and an appreciation for the family that built the business.  She is also an executive coach and works with Fortune 500, mid-size businesses, non-profit organizations, and Master’s level leadership classes.Overbeke recently co-authored The Sixth Level, a book about how women lead in large and mid-size organizations using the ethic of care and connection.  The book centers on narratives from 16 women CEOs and senior executives and presents an innovative leadership model based on the narratives and women’s social psychology.
