Hey Riddle Riddle

Headgum

Riddles! Puzzles! WhoDunnits! Adal Rifai, Erin Keif and John Patrick Coan, three of Chicago's most overrated improvisers, are on the case to solve every riddle, puzzle, brain-teaser, and head-scratcher known to humanity. Some riddles are almost impossible, some are absolutely improbable, and some simply have not aged well. And if you don't like riddles, don't worry! This podcast is barely about them!

Our Editor's Take

Fans of solving puzzles, mysteries, and games may enjoy the Hey Riddle Riddle podcast. Twice a week, the three hosts, known as "The Clue Crew," join together to play different mind challenges. Their goal is to solve each one within 72 hours. The hosts are Chicago-based improvisers Adal Rifai, John Patrick Coan (or JPC), and Erin Keif. They share experiences in improv performance, production, streaming, and hosting podcasts. In essence, they are three friends who love solving puzzles together. They also invite listeners to submit their suggestions for them to solve. Will they be up for the challenge?

In the "Lightning Strikes Out" podcast episode, Erin starts with a simple riddle. She asks the team, "I have 1,000 arms, 1,000 legs, and 500 heads. What am I?'" Their immediate answer is, "An insane bug!" Erin reveals the answer to a chorus of disappointment from Adal and JPC. The statement Erin is making is that some riddles are terrible. In "Winkie Winkie," they focus on solving extra-small puzzles. It includes a simple game of finding the odd one from a list of names, places, or items. When nursery rhymes are the theme, the three hosts create their own. It's debatable how well they rhyme.

To celebrate over 200 podcast episodes, the hosts invite two special guests to join them. Writer Zach Reino and actress Jessica McKenna bring extra entertainment and humor. As it's a one-off celebration, this episode has no puzzles to solve. Instead, they talk about escape rooms, insults in school, and celebrity authors.

The Hey Riddle Riddle podcast features three friends solving fun puzzles together. Between "JP riddles" and puzzles, they chat about everything from their weekends to food. As all three are improv performers, listeners can expect funny characters and silly voices throughout. Some episodes also include a quick comedy sketch or two. New episodes debut several times each week.
