Acceptance and Accepting

The Mix’d Movement

Nov 10 2023 • 35 mins

We’ve all felt the discomfort of not feeling accepted. As a mixed race person, that feeling comes from all directions. Being asked “what are you?” drives home the feeling of otherness and rejection. There's a natural pull to connect with others like you, but what happens when you're mixed?

In this episode, we’ll talk about our experiences with non-acceptance from society in general. What does it look like? How can we deal with it? Nate has done a lot of self-work unpacking shame, and now carries himself differently and relates to others differently. Chris has done work to actively accept others, rather than hoping for acceptance from them.
