Midge Murphy JD, PhD practiced entertainment law in California for over a decade, working with prestigious clients such as 20th Century Fox and Disney. Scott Zamurut is a practitioner and teacher of somatic and energetic healing arts with over thirty-three years of experience in the field. Marina shares insights into the relevance of exclusion in the family system, the concept of the “orders of love”, and how this healing method uses the phenomenological approach. We talk about the various levels of conscience - individual, family & spiritual, working with what Hellinger called the knowing field of individuals and groups, and the connection to Rupert Sheldrake and morphogenic fields. Marina shares her first experience with Constellations, and how we can in fact constellate any issue relevant to us, which may have no apparent connection to the family. She also covers the importance of working with interrupted movements towards our mother, why we sometimes need to say "no" as a practitioner, and challenging circumstances that may arise during a constellation. She also describes the skills needed to do this complex and deeply moving work well. Marina experienced her first constellation in 2002, and after years of participating in Constellations as a client in Europe and feeling significant shifts in her life, she felt called to bring this work to Canada where it was not well known. She began her training in 2009, and is certified by both Bert Hellinger and Sophie Hellinger from Hellinger Sciencia in Germany. In addition, she has studied with nine other trainers worldwide to gain an international perspective of this work, and she remains grateful to all of them. Kate White is a somatic trauma resolution therapist, Biodynamic craniosacral and advanced bodyworker specializing in prenatal and perinatal therapies. She specializes in healing early trauma by helping people work through and resolve the adaptive strategies initiated in their earliest years of life. Throughout her career Kate has helped to "educate professionals and the public, worldwide, that a baby’s experience of conception, pregnancy, and birth creates lifelong consequences for individuals, families, and society."  In this episode Kate gives us an overview of pre and perinatal care, her skillset in presence and reading the space between people, and the influence of pioneers in the field Ray Castellino and William Emerson. We discuss the body as memory, and the layers and imprints of pre-conception, pre-natal and birthing trauma. She shares the commonality of the "double bind" and a "stuck place" in life as a result of inherited or birth trauma. We consider the regularity of ancestral imprints and their effect on the family system. Kate addresses the importance of our self-healing, and how treating a baby is in fact treating the whole family. She also shares her insights with regards to best birthing practices such as midwifery, the role of a birth doula, and extended support of the broader family.  Since 1999, Kate has studied alongside many of the pioneers in prenatal and perinatal trauma healing, with extensive education in anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, embryology, interpersonal neurobiology, craniosacral biodynamics and somatic experiencing. She is Founder and former Director of the Department of Education for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health, and offers online training in both Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics. Dr. Susan Greenwood is a renowned author, lecturer and shamanic practitioner in the fields of magic, anthropology and consciousness. She specializes in magic as an altered mode of awareness, well-known for her fieldwork with British witches, druids, and shamanic practitioners. A past lecturer and Visiting Fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London, she completed her PhD on British magic in 1997. We discuss how she defines magical consciousness, the importance of the experiential in relation to the theoretical, and academia’s response to subjectivity. Susan talks with us about working with altered states of consciousness, shamanic extraction versus journeying, the imagination as a doorway to other realities and the art of walking the dimensions. We talk about shamanism as humanity's first type of spiritual experience and the importance of the concept of a 'whole soul' to our health, healing and well-being. She discusses the danger of Western arrogance and the limitations of what is currently seen as knowledge. She places emphasis on the wisdom of indigenous cultures and how critical it is for us to integrate this knowledge in order to re-envision our world. Susan is perhaps best known for her writing on consciousness and magic, The Anthropology of Magic (Berg, 2009; Routledge, 2020) and her collaborative work with neuroscientist Erik Goodwyn, Magical Consciousness: An Anthropological and Neurobiological Approach (Routledge, 2017), and Developing Magical Consciousness: A Theoretical and Practical Guide for the Expansion of Perception (Routledge, 2020). She was previously a lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sussex, where she taught courses and workshops on shamanic consciousness and altered states of consciousness for many years. Peter Mole is one of the UK's leading practitioners of acupuncture, the Dean at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading and a founding member of the Executive Committee of the British Acupuncture Council. Peter’s particular interest lies in how Chinese medicine understands how people’s internal worlds - especially their emotions - affect their physical and psychological health. He states that “Western medicine is a great system yet it lacks an understanding of how stress and distress affect people’s health. However, this is one of Chinese medicine’s greatest strengths".  We discuss the role of constitution in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), the difference between prana & qi, diagnostic methods in acupuncture and how Peter connects to and tracks the flow of qi through the needle. We cover the vital role of the emotions in health, and his experience of physical versus psycho-emotional orientations to treatment. Peter shares his thoughts on the value of finding meaningful work and loving relationships and the importance of building resilience in mind, body and emotions. He contextualizes the term Spirit in Chinese, shares a little of his personal travels in India and the importance of living in harmony with nature and the Tao. Today we are joined by Dr. Daniel Keown, author of the ground-breaking book "The Spark in the Machine: How the Science of Acupuncture Explains the Mysteries of Western Medicine" (2014) and more recently “The Uncharted Body” (2019). Dan has been a practicing doctor for over twenty years, and an acupuncturist for more than a decade. In 2010 he studied alongside the renowned Dr. Wang Ju-Yi at the Institute of Channel Diagnosis in Beijing. We discuss the importance of electricity in the health and function of the body, and how the meridian channels correspond to fascial pathways that surgeons routinely use. Dan suggests that dis-ease is fundamentally about dysfunctional qi flow, likening acupuncture to electrical engineering for the body. He explains how channel palpation works in relation to diagnostics and how fascia is the primary tissue allowing electrical movement throughout the body. We discuss how shen - or spirit - is an integral component to the health and happiness of an individual, and perhaps the most important indicator of health. We explore the fascinating connection between embryology and acupuncture, morphogenetic fields, the mystery of how a single cell becomes an entire body and how the six divisions in acupuncture theory serve as embryological planes. Furthermore, we discuss the extraordinary channels and how he views chakras as nerve ganglions, or mini-brains. Dan shares his frustration with the western medical model's reductionism, where he feels it does and doesn't work, and highlights how it excels with emergency medicine. He also shares a controversial viewpoint in which he feels that western medicine is a broken system. Dan envisions a future in which acupuncture is the first line of therapy in healthcare and hospitals worldwide - providing an inexpensive, intelligent, and effective way of supporting people's health and well-being.Dan received a degree in medicine from Manchester University in 1998, and 2008 he completed a degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture from the College of Integrated Medicine affiliated with Kingston University, and has been a member of the British Acupuncture Council since. Joining us today is President Emeritus of the Zero Balancing Board of Directors, Michael Oruch, an established Zero Balancing teacher and practitioner based in New York City. Michael views Zero Balancing as a vehicle for health, wellness and positive change both personally and collectively, and was inspired to teach Zero Balancing (or ZB) following years of study and tutelage with the modality Founder, Dr. Fritz Smith. We discuss how Zero Balancing uses fulcrums to clear vibration held in the bone, joints and the energy field of clients, how working with bone connects to our ancestors and why releasing held tension in the body catalyzes self-reorganisation. We address the key ZB concept of "interface" - how the practitioner navigates the boundary between structure and energy through touch. Michael shares his insights regarding how healing is about accessing that which is hidden, as we free ourselves from suffering and resolve trauma in the body and the mind. Key aspects of Zero Balancing are discussed including expanded states of consciousness and what it means to “hurt good’. Interestingly, we explore how a touch-based modality can be used for remote healing through the use of surrogates.  Michael has taught Zero Balancing extensively in both the US and internationally, and has additionally spent many years studying Qigong, Tai Chi and related forms, which he has taught at New York University. He has made significant contributions to the ZB community as a Mentor Faculty Advisor, through teacher trainings, and serving on various committees. He has also personally developed three Zero Balancing classes and two Zero Balancing training DVD's.
