Win Over Depression -A Podcast about coping with mental illness and anxiety

Tamera C. Trotter

The goal of WIN OVER DEPRESSION is to spread awareness about the Mental Health epidemic and provide insight, and understanding about the daily challenges individuals with mental health issues face. It can be hard to get out of bed in the morning or feel motivated to interact with others. Quite often it feels as though a dark cloud is hovering over you. During the most painful times you just feel ALONE. The clinically depressed individual struggles daily to survive.

The mind is the worst enemy they have and they are often trapped inside their thoughts. They make assumptions about their interactions, sometimes become paranoid and have difficulty deciding what is the truth. They feel alone in their pain because they are convinced they are a burden to their family and friends. They have a couple of friends in whom they may confide, but unless you have experienced the deep-rooted sadness and helplessness no one  can really understand the day to day and often moment to moment struggle of mental health disorders.

For the most part, sufferers of mental health conditions conceal their mental health diagnosis because society can be cruel and accusatory.  The negative stigmas that surround mental illnesses encourage silence and seeking professional help is perceived to be a weakness. "GIVING UP IS NEVER AN OPTION." This podcast will provide the mental health sufferer or their family with insight, tools for survival and "real-life" stories that will teach techniques and ways to thrive despite your circumstances and life a productive life. websites:https://www.winoverdepression.org

3 Reasons to Hope Despite Our Mental Health Condition - A Podcast on Managing Mental Illness

3 Reasons to Hope Despite Our Mental Health Condition - A Podcast on Managing Mental Illness
It is essential in overcoming our mental illness that we have hope.  Hope may be the only thing you have to hold onto.  Hope will push you to try harder and do better. It is essential to develop healthy relationships with individuals who have a mutual respect for one another and the best interest of one another. In some case ulterior motives present themselves and true agendas come to the surface. It is usually during challenging times you come to really know the value another has for your friendship. It's easy to be a friend when all is seemingly well and life feels right. However, it is another story when the storms of life come and you need your friend to stand by you; or validate your feelings; reciprocate the support you have given to them or make a sacrifice for you. If you know a friend would not, do for you what you would graciously do for them, stop extending yourself. You will be devastated in the end and possibly suffer a long term depressive episode.  Depressed individuals must take extra care and concern because their emotions are delicate and fragile. You must surround yourself with friends who are trying to understand your depression and are still willing to cope with your tough times, support and love you; but also encourage and lift you up. You need friends who will roll with the hard times and embrace you just the same."Giving Up Is NEVER an Option.'Support the showhttps://www.winoverdepression.orghttps://www.patreon.com/tameratrotterhttps://www.stitcher.com/podcast/tameras-podcast

10 Ways To Live Better Despite Your Mental Illness - A Podcast on Managing Mental Illness
It is just as important to tend to your mental health as you would your physical health.  Mental illness is plaquing our world and over 800,000 people commit suicide every single year.  This podcast vows to reduce that rate through education and awareness.TRANSCRIPT WELCOME to  Win Over Depression, I am your host, Tamera Trotter.  This podcast is dedicated to shedding light on mental illness through education, experience and real life examples. I have suffered from chronic depression for most of my adult life however, when I decided to become transparent about my diagnosis all of my friends were astonished. You see, those of us who suffer with a mental illness are experts at masking our true feelings. When the world is sleeping we are up thinking, coping and trying to quiet the thoughts in our head. I know that….. Mental illness does NOT define me nor anyone who suffers with an often times debilitating condition; yet this disease is the most under-treated in the world.I have learned how to be proactive living with chronic depression and thriving anyway. Suicide has become the number one cause of death in the America. I vow to stop the stigma associated with mental illness and educate everyone on the importance of treating mental health disorders as you would any other medical condition. It is vital to conduct a mental health assessment of adults and children on a regular basis because the suicide rate of children between the ages of 8-14 is on the rise.Support the showhttps://www.winoverdepression.orghttps://www.patreon.com/tameratrotterhttps://www.stitcher.com/podcast/tameras-podcast

5 Ways to Defeat our Mental Illness and Move Forward- A podcast about mental Illness
HOW DEPRESSION AFFECTS YOUR LIFE EVERY SINGLE DAY.It affects your physical well-being, resulting in chronic fatigue, sleep problems, and changes in appetite. It prevents you from enjoying and living your life to the fullest You've lost interest in sex or even physical affection It affects your mood, with feelings of sadness, emptiness, hopelessness and dysphoria.Your place is a mess; laundry and dishes are piled up, mail is unopened, etc. We no longer have the same energy and enthusiasm in our relationships. You've been making excuses to friends why you can't get together with them, or you're telling them you're "just too tired." We often prefer to stay home rather than go out, be alone rather than share and talk. We push others away. We become very self focussed and sensitive, easily offended, and quick to snap. As our relationships start to break down, we blame ourselves. We feel worthless, believing that no-one would want to be with us because we don't want to be with ourselves. We push people away and then feel worse because we are alone. It takes you a whole weekend to do chores that used to only occupy a morning. You've really let yourself go - you're wearing clothes that make you look dumpy, you've stopped exercising, you're not shaving unless it's absolutely necessary. It affects the way you think, interfering with concentration and decision making. You miss out on the sun, the moon, the stars, the sky, the universe, and cats & dogs. You're drinking or using drugs to escape the pain. it affects your behavior, with increased irritability and loss of temper, social withdrawal, and a reduction in your desire to engage in pleasurable activities. You lose things, you lose track of things and can't always remember what day it is. You've pretty much stopped eating, or caring what you eat and whether it tastes good. On the flip side, you may be eating all the time because you're bored and hope that food will somehow satisfy the vacant feeling you have. Sleeping difficulties have started creeping in - either difficulty sleeping, erratic sleeping patterns or difficulty staying awake.Support the showhttps://www.winoverdepression.orghttps://www.patreon.com/tameratrotterhttps://www.stitcher.com/podcast/tameras-podcast

5 Ways to Cope with the Long Suffering that Mental Illness Causes- WIN OVER DEPRESSION
Long Suffering is a strength and not a weaknessOften times trials and tribulations permeate our lives and it may seem as though we are standing alone. We are all by ourselves to deal with the blows this unfair life deals us. The reality is, we are never alone.  Even during our darkest hour when it seems there is no one to be found.Long Suffering shapes our character and tests our absolute faith in God. Long suffering teaches patience, endurance and equips us with the wherewithal mentality we need to overcome obstacles, defeat the enemy and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God will never forsake us.God helps us when we suffer beyond the limits of our own strength. We have all been sufficiently equipped with all that is needed to fulfill our purpose on the earth, achieve our personal dreams and annihilate anything that would keep us from our best. You cannot give up now because you are so close to a breakthrough and the pouring down of blessings from your heavenly father. It may seem hopeless, it may look impossible, it may be against all odds and your strongest support system may have lost all hope.Remember, God can move mountains, divinely intervene, and make your enemies build you up. Long suffering will get you where you should be and take you places you never imagined. You are far too important to God to stop short of receiving all that He has for you. I encourage you to continue going above and beyond without prompting, continue to give from your heart of gold and God will pour out a blessing where there is not room enough to receive it all.The Long Suffering that you endure will certainly become your biggest testimony.  You are much stronger than you think and you will experience joy in your life much sooner than you think. Your season has come and it is imperative that you keep going, continue to move forward.  The best is yet to come.INSTAGRAM:https://www.instagram.com/tameratrotterTWITTERhttps://www.twitter.com/tameratrotterhttps://www.throughtheeyesofdepression.org/product/clinical-depression/TUMBLRhttps://www.tumblr.com/blog/fromtameraSupport the showhttps://www.winoverdepression.orghttps://www.patreon.com/tameratrotterhttps://www.stitcher.com/podcast/tameras-podcast

5 Ways to cope with profound grief and situational depression- Special Guest Feledier Thrower - WIN OVER DEPRESSION
A special guest on WIN OVER DEPRESSION- Feledier Thrower shares her story about life after losing her parents unexpectedly. They passed away within three weeks of each other in 2021.  Feledier is known to her family and friends as someone who is outgoing, fun, full of energy and loves to travel.  However, since this profound loss her entire world was changed and she experienced situational depression for the first time in her life.  In this episode, she shares her 'real' experience dealing with her emotions and getting to a space where life was worth living again.  We may wonder why tragedy turns our lives upside down? Why does so much pain have to cross our path? What did we do to deserve such an insurmountable circumstance to bring our life to a halt? You did not do anything. Life has its own journey and we are often times subjected to its storm. All we can do is weather what comes our way knowing; it too shall pass.We can never comprehend nor understand why situations occur in lives. Especially, when we seem to be doing everything above board. All we can do is bravely face whatever comes and figure out how to deal with the outcome. It’s seems life gets harder to cope in our latter years and death is a part of our painful circle of life.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!
