Hysteria 51 is your offbeat weekly podcast destination for all things weird and wonderful! We navigate the cosmic highways of UFOs, the alien-infested landscapes, and the enigmatic frontiers of the paranormal. With your hosts, Brent Hand and David Flora, alongside our cantankerous tin man, Conspiracy Bot (with a not-so-subtle desire to rule the world, doubling as our chief inquisitor into the unknown), we delve into unique mysteries, the inexplicable, and the downright unusual.
Each week we explore a fresh topic, making one thing crystal clear... the truth is out there, but you won’t find it here.
Hysteria 51 investigates paranormal stories and conspiracy theories with humor and skepticism. Podcast hosts Brent Hand and David Flora agree that some stories are so interesting they're worth telling, even if they aren't factual. They say everyone should consider the storyteller's intention. It's no fun to debunk everything.
The cohosts joke that one guarantee of this podcast is that they'll get some facts wrong. Their slogan is, "The truth is out there, but you won't find it here." There's still enough truth to many of their featured tales to prompt curiosity. They talk to guests who've experienced supernatural events. They also share their own stories.
David was a guest on the Hysteria 51 podcast before becoming a cohost in 2022. From 2016 to 2022, the show's cofounder, John Goforth, cohosted with Brent. In one episode, John and Brent discuss apocalypses. One host has an emergency bag packed. He lists the contents, including pencils and a waterproof notebook. The other host teases him, saying he won't be in a World War I foxhole writing letters. They describe one doomsday prepper who trained his own dog army. He performed surgery on the dogs, giving them titanium teeth.
The podcast hosts set off their fire alarm trying MRE (meals ready to eat). Pouring water into their beef ravioli and vegetarian chili causes a chemical reaction that triggers the alarm. The ravioli tastes like Chef Boyardee. The chili needs salt. They reveal which side items taste delicious. They debate packing Vienna sausages in an apocalypse. One host would prefer worms. The other eats the sausages and drinks the juice for enjoyment. He recommends the spicy ones.
In another episode of the podcast, Brent and David talk to Laura Krantz. She is the acclaimed author of Is There Anybody Out There? Like David, Brent, and John, Laura believes in paranormal possibilities. She has a sense of humor about them. Brent thinks some content in the conspiracy genre is too serious.
Bigfoot, shadow people, and galactic federations are fun to talk about. Hysteria 51 ensures that. New podcast episodes come out each Wednesday.
