#31 Caryl Westmore: How to Heal Writer's Block with EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
WRITER'S BLOCK.  Is it a myth or a silent saboteur that can slow you down and even ruin your writing dreams? In this solo episode, Caryl dives deep into EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques), answering the questions:What is EFT?How does it work? How can it help you heal the root causes of Writer's Block and set you free creatively? The entire episode is taken from a presentation entitled Bye Bye Writer's Block, Hello Creative Genius  in which Caryl takes listeners through the A to Z  of the Tapping process and explains why EFT Tapping is at the forefront of body-based therapy today.Caryl recounts a horrifying but true story about writer's block. Joseph Mitchell, a respected journalist on the New Yorker in the 1950s, dried up creatively at age 57 and never published another word for the next 30 years.Writer's Block is not a myth. It cripples creativity and flow for writers. This is based on Caryl's own therapy practice, helping countless of her own clients break free from its clutches to write their books, poetry, movie scripts or take an enormous leap towards their dreams."The good news is that EFT Tapping is the approach I have found most effective in resolving writer’s block in any shape or form. Who am I to tell you this? Well, first, I'm an expert trainer in EFT- Matrix Reimprinting and Matrix Goals Reimprinting, which I pioneered. As a former journalist, multi published nonfiction author and the world's first Tapping Book Coach, I combine the inner game with the expertise to help you write, publish, and promote your book."By the end of the episode, you will have a full understanding of why and how EFT Tapping can  help resolve writer's block and transform both your life - and writing life.Caryl's book Bye Bye Writer's Block sponsors this episode . The book is due out in October 2022 and will soon be available on Amazon for pre-order.

#30 Derek Doepker: Bestseller Secrets to Win your Inner Game as an Author
Derek Doepker went from being a broke valet parker and aspiring rock musician to an acclaimed author and Bestseller Secrets Mentor and coach to other writers. He’s sold over 75,000 books using free and low-cost marketing strategies. He shares his methods with authors through workshops, courses, and retreats, empowering them to turn their passion for writing into a thriving business. In this episode of Write the Book Inside You, he shares tips and tools to help writers and authors master the inner and outer game of being a bestselling author, creator of audiobooks - and podcast guest.Download Derek's free ebook Why Authors Fail: my free Checklist: 5 Book Hooks for a Bestseller:   #1Be genuine rather than self-serving.When reaching out to Influencers who might help you become a “bestselling author,” Derek says take your self-interest out of the equation. Your entire attitude and approach should be ‘how is this going to help you and your audience?' It's all about them.Derek learned this from Dale Carnegie’s book How to Win Friends and Influence People.  Readers and influencers crave genuine attention. “A genuine compliment will instantly make you stand out. You'd probably be in the top 5% of people if you just take the time to personalize the message or send a short video introduction. Tip #2Write a book on a topic you know and feel passionate about sharing. Your attitude can be: “if it makes money or not, great. Either way, I’m going to put this book into the world because people need it.”This averts the tendency of imposter syndrome, asking yourself who am I to write a book, is anyone going to enjoy this? Tip #3Your reader wants to hear from YOU.Stop worrying if other writers have covered your topic–your next reader hasn’t heard it from you.“Sometimes they've heard it seven times, but they need to hear it for the eighth time and you're the one that says it right then, when they need it the most.“You may be the one doctor on a flight that saves the passenger’s life.”Tip #4Three Magic Words: Can I just… “If I had one last tip to share on my deathbed, it would be the Can I just technique,” says Derek. It hinges on micro-commitments.“BJ Fogg, a Stanford researcher, talks about tiny habits. Steven Guise of Mini Habits, James Clear of Atomic Habits, plus several others have talked about this concept of a micro commitment. It's something so tiny that you're guaranteed to say yes to doing it. 'Can I just open my word processor and type one sentence?  Then I can stop after that.’“It works because Momentum generates motivation,” says Derek.  It's crucial that you remember to stop and pat yourself on the back for even the smallest action, says Derek. Say to yourself, ‘I did something instead of nothing… I did more than I thought I could.’ Tip  #5Consistency wins the dayWhen it comes to building a habit, especially in the short term, consistency is more important than quantity or sometimes even quality, says Derek.  “Build up a writing habit, keep doing a little each day. It might be only a minute, five minutes, ten minutes a day, versus not writing for a week or two and having big ups and downs.”Tip  #6One hand up, one hand down. “Know how to reach up to influencers and coaches who can show you what you

#28 Albert Flynn DeSilver: Writing as a Path to Awakening
Albert Flynn DeSilver is an award-winning internationally published writer, speaker, poet and workshop leader known for merging the art of creative writing with the evolutionary practice of mindfulness meditation. Founder of the Brilliant Writers Online Writing School, his mission as a writing teacher is to "remind people of their inherent creative genius and reignite their joy, fun, spontaneity and wisdom the practice of process writing."And yet, as he shares in this interview, his tumultuous childhood was anything BUT joyful, growing up with an alcoholic mother and distant father who left him and his sisters in the hands of a controlling, abusive, violent caretaker. As a result , feeling unsafe, anxious and fearful, he turned to alcohol at age 12 and became a suicidal alcoholic in his 20s. Albert’s memoir “Beamish Boy: A Memoir of Recovery & Awakening” documents his early life which he shares in this interview. It comes from this experience of being in the body, courageously being willing to go into those deeper places of sensation - of fear energy, of anger. And also, by the same token, delight energy and joy energy. He shares his first Kickstarter Project currently underway in mid-2022 - a book of five travel essays with 10 outstanding photographs by Swedish photographer Mattias Fredriksson - titled Singletrack Mind, Finding Wisdom & the Poetry of Life on Two Wheels. As a special offer to my podcast listeners, Albert is offering a free 30 minute consultation where he will guide you on any writing related topic and offer the opportunity to join his Brilliant Writers community.

#27 Marc Allen, New World Library: Dare to Dream, Be your own "Inner Millionaire Magician"
Marc Allen’s Magical Path book and life teachings inspire with the single truth: Dare to Dream - and Go for it. CEO of New World Library which has published 650+ books including The Power of Now by Eckhardt Tolle; author of 18 bestselling books and a prolific musician, Marc is a living example of “success with ease…a world that works for all.”  He went from "poverty case to millionaire" in his 30s using these principles:Golden Nugget #1Write down a “one-pager” for your ideal Dreams and Goals. Don’t compromise.Changing his life from “poverty case” to millionaire in a few short years, began for him, aged 30:“Writing down my Dreams and Goals in a one-page check list with the headline: ‘I’m now creating the life of my dreams.’ and then writing a one-page plan for every goal (he had 12 at the time).Golden Nugget #2Quelling his Doubts and Fears which immediately arose by deciding to do what Buckminister Fuller once did - committing to living his ideal life as an “experiment.”Golden Nugget #3Making his list into Affirmations - always followed by the phrase: ‘in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, for the highest good of all.’Golden Nugget #4Get your subconscious mind saying yes to all of this. The subconscious is like a five-year-old believing whatever self-talk you give it.Golden Nugget #5Take action - no matter how small - immediately. (But first complete #6 below).Golden Nugget #6The Core Belief (or Underlying Belief) process works well for this. It goes as follows:1.  What’s the problem?2.  What are you feeling physically?3.  What are you feeling emotionally?4.  What’s the worst that can happen?5.  What’s the best that can happen? My ideal scenario? [Most people neglect this key nugget and mainly focus on their negative fears.]Asking these questions reveals our “underlying beliefs,” lurking in the subconscious which once spotted we can change with counter-statements as affirmations.e.g. “I’m a fool with money,” vs. “I am sensible and in control of my finances.”Golden Nugget #7Get help with your weak aspects. Marc gathered a team to fulfill his weaker points - including an accountant who keeps the finances in check and others who do the marketing for his business.Golden Nugget #8The Middle Pillar Meditation is a practice from the Kabbalah that has been Marc Allen’s daily practice since his 30s. Visualize healing energy flowing through your whole body, head to feet, healing and cleansing. You can do it sitting or lying down in the yogic corpse position. Results are miraculous. Golden Nugget #9A parting quote from the Bhagavad Gita: “Even in the knocks of life, we find great gifts.”

In this podcast she shares how she helped a $1m scriptwriter overcome writer's block and win an Academy Award and how she overcame her own Silent Saboteurs as an author.Below are 5 Golden Nuggets from this interview. What is Journey work?Journey work is a healing process that was born from her own experience of healing from a basketball sized uterine tumor in six and a half weeks. It is based on the scientific fact that strong repressed emotions affect us at a cellular level - and blocked cells cause illness - mental, emotional and physical.Summary of key points Brandon Bays gave in the interview:Golden Nugget #1Release, forgive, and let go past painful cellular memories. They are the Silent Saboteurs that affect all areas of our life - including writing and creativity.Golden Nugget #2At the root of your Silent Saboteur are parents, teachers or Adults from your childhood/teens. The Journey allows us to recognize them, dialogue with them, then cut the ties and let go, forming new empowering beliefs and positive resources.Golden Nugget #3Write with a specific reader in mind. When writing her book The Journey, Brandon imagined she was writing for one specific woman reader who needed its healing message. “So every day I prayed for her. The Journey allows you to free up your potential at a soul level and express your Grace-given gifts as a writer.Golden Nugget #5Forgiveness, part of the Journey campfire process, is a key to releasing the toxicity of repressed emotions keeping us stuck or ill. “The power of forgiveness can never be spoken about loud enough or strong enough,” she says.

#20 Marc Allen, Founder of New World Library, shares the Magical Path to Success in Life and Writing your Book
Taking the Magical Path to success in life and writing your book is the theme of this interview with Marc Allen. 5 Book Hook Tips: Free Checklist: Allen, world-famous Author of 18 books, and head of New World Library, publishers of 650 books, including The Power of Now by Eckhard Tolle, shared with Caryl Westmore the following insightful wisdom about writing and publishing today:Marc believes totally in writing a book from your heart - not from your head. And definitely advises not to follow a current trend or fad. He says: "The secret of writing a good book really is to write from your heart. Write what is inside you, just like the title of your wonderful podcast. Don't write from your head, do not write trying to follow trends or anything like that. Write what's in your heart and soul and what is really meaningful to you."Although he has been a traditional publisher with New World Library for more than 44 years Marc is a huge supporter of self-publishing, having started his publishing company with his then-girlfriend Shakti Gawain from their kitchen table."I just self-published a few little books. And then my girlfriend at the time named Shakti Gawain did a book we published called Creative Visualization. And suddenly, we had this word of mouth bestseller (today her book has sold 6 million copies) and a whole company grew up around my self-publishing efforts".Facts shared by Marc Allen: New World Library is still publishing and marketing books "the good old way," says Marc."We're still doing it the same way of a good solid traditional publisher that gives the author an advance and does not ask any money from the author. We really try to sell books and we make our money off book sales, we don't charge the author.""What if you've already self-published,  would you need to show sales of at least 1000 or 2000 books? Would a publisher like yourself still be interested in a self-published book?"Yeah, definitely. We have picked up self-published books, any publisher will. And yeah, if you can sell 1000/2000 on your own, you'll get some interest from some publisher, because in a way, you've done the marketing research, you've shown this book will sell.Author Platform counts. "But more and more what publishers look at today is what you as an author can do to promote your book. Do you have a mailing list? Where are you on social media? The buzz phrase now is what's the author's platform? "Marc believes in the power of prayer. That's how he picked up the then barely known writer Eckhard Tolle whose book The Power of Now had been published in Canada."For a week or two walking around my house, I began to pray to take a quantum leap financially and personally. A week or two after I started praying this, my marketing manager casually mentioned Tolle's book and once I held got it into my hands, I knew it was for New World Library."A few years later Oprah picked it up at a Book Fair - and the rest is history.Did you know? Unlike many publishers, you don't have to approach New World Library through an agent. Says Marc: "We invite authors just to send directly to us too. I'd say half of the books that we publish, roughly, are probably directly with the authors and half with agents. Either way is fine."
[5 Min Friday] Be Happier: "High Five Habit" and "The Gap and the Gain" tell you how.
Nov 5 2021
[5 Min Friday] Be Happier: "High Five Habit" and "The Gap and the Gain" tell you how.
In today's FIVE MINUTE FRIDAY, I ask: Do you want to be happier now? Tips from two best-selling books I'm currently reading could make your week much happier or change your life for good. The two books I'm referring to are The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan, coauthored with Dr. Benjamin Hardy, and from Mel Robbins, The High Five Habit. They're both high on the best-selling lists at the moment as I'm recording this at the end of October 2021. Let's look at them. And see what happens in the next week if you follow what I describe to you from these books.  Number one, high-five yourself in the mirror, encouragingly every morning. According to Mel Robbins, author of The High Five Habit you are cheering yourself in a way that you usually reserve for others - yet it's crucial in stressful times to root for yourself. As you look into the mirror, and high-five yourself something magical happens. Instead of seeking love and support outside yourself from others. As you go through your day you realise you've given it to yourself, you sent yourself a message "I believe in you, I see you, you've got this!"Number two book is The Gap and the Gain. Understanding the difference between living in the gap versus the gain can make all the difference to your happiness. And the way to do that is to not look at how far you've got to go. But how far you've come. Stop harping on where you fall short of your goals and ideals. And instead, notice and applaud yourself for how far you've come. How much wisdom and growth you've gained in the game of life. That's the powerful message in this book - a true gem of inspiration from authors Dan Sullivan, and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. Living in the gap is stressful and leads you to wanting external validation while grasping at material goals to fulfill you. Instead, aim to measure your progress backward against where you started, not against the ideal, says Dan Sullivan. Embrace an attitude of gratitude for where you are right now. #14 "The Day I Didn't Kill Myself." New author DebS gets Caryl Westmore's input on her Memoir
Meet DebS, author of the upcoming Memoir "The Day I didn't Kill Myself."After finishing writing her book she wondered - what next?   A member of the Writing the Book Inside You  Facebook Group, Debs met with Caryl to get some input on her next best steps. Listen to how she got clarity on her book title, sub-title and the opening paragraphs which Caryl advised should "hook the reader" from the get-go.Debs says how she originally titled her book "How Words Can Change your Life" or "How words Can Heal your Life".  The book she says is "essentially my memoir about how I became depressed following a divorce, and then having suicidal thoughts. And obviously, I didn't follow up on that otherwise, I wouldn't be here today."It was initially all about the words, the words that jumped into her head, then it was about words that people had said to her. "I thought the title seemed to make sense, celebrating that there is such a thing as life after divorce, there is such a thing as life after depression, there is such a thing as life after having suicidal thoughts," she says. One day she heard the poem "The Morning after I Killed myself".  It was written from the point of view of somebody wishing that they hadn't, but it was too late.In this interview, she shares the story of how this led to her final title "The Day I didn't kill myself." "But I didn't have a very good subtitle," she says.  That's where Caryl Westmore gave her key ideas which made her subtitle enticing for readers. You will also hear how the opening of the book got a new hook.Realizing she was near-suicidal 20 years ago sent Debs on a healing journey which she shares in this interview.  It is also woven into the book (with many of the therapies that helped her including Emotional Freedom Techniques). She hopes that she can help others who are on the brink of despair and depression to realize there IS life after divorce and deep depression.Debs also shares how much of her adult depression and feelings of being unloved originated in her early childhood when her Mum, suffering from post-natal depression and mental health issues left home with her brother - leaving her feeling unlovable and abandoned.A key part of her healing journey was to rescue and re-parent her Younger Self and to talk over the past with her mother.Writing is a cathartic journey says Debs who recommends it to anyone who is thinking of writing a transformational memoir. This episode is sponsored by the book "You Can Break-Free Fast EFT Tapping" by Caryl Westmore and the companion book "Power Boost the Law of Attraction with Matrix Reimprinting using EFT Tapping"

Episode 11 - True Expat, Nick Westmore: Never too late to Write the Book Inside You
Today’s guest Nick Westmore proves age is no barrier when it comes to writing the book inside you.  Nick Westmore is my husband and the author of three books which I happily helped him publish on Amazon in my role as the “Tapping Book Coach.” As someone who published his first book after he retired in his 70s, Nick proves that if he can do it, anyone can! He tells us how he’s always had a whimsical way of seeing the world and finding humour wherever he goes. He gives us some background into his career and travels as an engineer and how this led him to write the book True Expat: Tales of an Expatriate in the Oil and Gas Industry. Apart from sharing a number of light-hearted anecdotes from the book, he also sheds light on another book he wrote, Village Boy at Heart, and the book he is currently writing about life in South Africa during the pandemic. Hear about Nick’s writing process, the job of independent self-publishing and the importance of getting help with the editing, proofreading and design of your book, as well as other aspects. Like he did from Caryl. Tune in today for some inspiration from Nick as to why you too should write the book inside you. Key Points From This Episode:Introduction to Nick Westmore and his whimsical way of seeing the world. Nick speaks about his book: True Expat: Tales of an Expatriate in the Oil and Gas Industry. What is meant by ‘true expat’.A background into Nick’s career as an engineer and how he met the characters he’s written about. How the book came about. Insight into Nick’s writing process. An anecdote from the book: A Donkey Race in Iran. An anecdote about a character Nick will never forget: Jimmy Two Rivers. The story behind the colourful shirt Nick is wearing - truly African, like those worn by Nelson Mandela..Nick talks about his encounter with Brigitte Bardot. Why Nick wrote the book Village Boy at Heart. Nick’s plans for a future book: “Letters from South Africa” in which he highlights humorous episodes from his visits to South Africa over the years. How Nick has been inspired by Trevor Noah. Thoughts on independent self-publishing and the importance of getting help with this process. Why you should also write the book inside you. Tweetables:“I think for me, the writing of the book, and the reason why I like dipping into it even now, is the fact that I enjoyed writing it. — I thought, ‘Well, if I could bring the same enjoyment to my readers, bring a smile to their face-’ that’s what really captivated me.” — [0:06:20]“Basically, what I’ve looked for is the humorous things I’ve seen in life down here (in South Africa)..
