041 - I'm Making It
“If you desire to accomplish anything in life, please delete the (t) in can't; you can only succeed without it” - Johnnie Williams IIIHave you ever placed an order at a restaurant and mentioned to remove something they had as an ingredient you didn’t want included? Well - let’s hold the (t) - you can do it!I feel that many of us have learned can’t from someone who couldn’t bear to watch us fail or fall short. So, we were conditioned to say can’t more often than not. I can’t - you can’t – we can’t... sound familiar? Just saying what you can’t do shouldn't feel natural coming from your mouth or feel as foreign as a language that you do not speak. Well, there is some small group out there that is busy working on removing the (t) in can(t).Are you one of them…?I see the ( T ) representing time… The time needed to develop a can’t into a can! But realistically there are some things that we really are unable to do, but the sad reality is for too many of us, we will opt for adding the (t) way too soon. How many of you have once said?-I can’t ride a bike – but now you do!-I can’t swim – but now jump in the deep end!-I can’t cook - but (now) still manage to burn a pot of boiling water ( lol ). Keep trying!-I can’t do that – but now do much-much more!Know that I once said "I can’t manage my own podcast… I can’t edit it. I can’t record it." And then I had to edit my can't and replace it with can to arrive at episode 41 of season 3.Ask Yourself:What has your heart been trying to say to you? What would happen if you actually listened? And, then what? 042 - Tell Your Story
“As a child, I followed in my parent's footsteps… As I’ve gotten older, I have begun to create my own.” - Johnnie Williams IIIWho is telling your story? Is it you? What do you feed into the abyssNess of his – story? My personal story has many chapters that include highs and lows, as well as close calls and some very amazing moments too. I have been blessed and fortunate to tell my story for a living – but sometimes that has required that I relive some emotional moments. These moments have served the purpose of helping me in connecting with others currently going through a similar (present) moment or tough time. So, I will share the pieces that offer food for thought in tangible life lessons that offer value to those paying with attention. It was my father who told me and taught me to be bigger than my story and its challenging chapters. He would know – as a child he was left to battle Polio without the support and assurance of his own father who was left to battle tuberculosis – TB – after returning from World War II. So essentially, he shared in the footsteps of health-related struggles like his father… my grandfather. But it was his personal fortitude that determined that polio would not render him crippled – crippled physically nor emotionally.  So, he forged on at an early age to craft his own steps and his own perception of himself despite doctor, family, and the opinion of friends who all doubted his fate. But now, here he is telling his own amazing story of loving his wife of 51 years and raising three sons as he helps to guide his six grandchildren who too can follow in his footsteps until they’re able to create and craft their own.Ask Yourself:What is one example that your parents set for you? What is something you have accomplished it makes you proud? What were your legacy be? 043 - Don't Give Up
“Some say that life is a rat race you will never win I say we should at least think your way to the front of it.” - Johnnie Williams IIINotice I didn’t say:-Work your way to the front of it…-Run or race your way to the front of it…-Cheat your way to the front of it…Check out this video that describes a 1950 Harvard university study using similar rats that were both domesticated and wild. The study aimed to see how long the rats of different circumstance would swim before giving up. The findings were very interesting and speak to the Hope and hopelessness that is present within men and women across the globe. Some still have hope in succeeding and thriving despite the obstacles they are confronted with. But many others have given up on trying to access the possibility of getting more out of life.Don't Give Up...Do you believe you can continue to survive or even thrive within this man-made rat race?Don’t give up – keep pushing – keep kicking – keep dreaming – keep loving the journey of life!!!The think about it brand and podcast or about encouraging, reminding, and inspiring good people to think critically and independently. I offer an array of services and products that attempt to support the creation of a productive habit of thinking deeply more often to avoid the predictable rat traps that have caught too many of us due to unconscious reactions.Something to think about…Ask Yourself:What has life and stress done to your optimism? What is one thing you can do to make your life easier to manage? How did your way of thinking make a difference? 049 - Flow Follow Focus
"Your time should be managed on the move, because it cannot be paused while you stop and figure things out." - Johnnie Williams IIIEach and every podcast episode allow for me to find my way back into the flow - as long as I focus my energy and attention on the theme and thought. My process for producing each message is 3-fold, beginning with tapping in and allowing my marker to dance across the white board that contains my show notes. Once that is done, i usually take a day or maybe a few hours to sit with it, look at it and then move on to record it. As I walk into my home studio and hit the power button, I am already ascending into a higher state of...or enlivened state. My heart begins beating slower, which is seemingly the opposite of what would be expected, but I actually begin to relax into what will ultimately become another thought stirring experience for whomever might listen. My intent with each episode is to capture my energy during this moment of flow as I focus upon a single-quote I may have created more than 7 years ago. I try to remember where I was and what I might have been doing, thinking or trying to say; and make sure that I allow that to come back to me as I began to share with you the listener(s).This episode's message allowed me to briefly highlight the obvious notion - that time does not sit nor stand still despite our desire for it to do so. It (time) doesn't slow from the pace we have set for it to tick and tock along with our lives. Therefore, at best all we can do is manage it better and better from experience gained from wasting it or losing it and paying the high price.I quickly offer up a way that I escape the grip of time and you can as well, before signing off with a couple of questions you should consider answering:1) When is the busiest part of your day?2) Where do you get caught wasting the most time?3) How do you make up for lost time? 022 - Practice Makes Improvement
“I suggest that you practice practicing what you preach, prior to preaching it to others.” - Johnnie Williams IIIMaybe you thought I meant to say practice makes perfect, but that’d be an incorrect answer. For instance, would you say that you are perfect? What about your parents or maybe your kids? And, while we’re at it let’s consider the friends that we’ve chosen, are they perfect? This episode's podcast deals with the common philosophy on perfection that needs to be edited to focus more on improvement which we all can accomplish. I believe we live in a follow me society the exists off of whims and shallow ideas and ideologies that haven’t been perfected, challenged no well thought through. There are too many gurus in today’s saturated marketplace selling fool‘s Gold for fiat currency - that’s no longer backed by the gold standard.Be sure to practice improving upon yourself (first) and practice what you preach to others (second) before you begin preaching it as if it were the only truth.Do you think the following professionals (always) practice what they preach?-politicians (Y / N)-police (Y / N)-parents (Y / N)-preachers (Y / N)-physicians (Y / N)-professors (Y / N)-psychiatrists (Y / N)-pharmacists (Y / N)-presidents (Y / N)Ask Yourself:What advice do you love to dish out others? When was the last time you caught yourself (not) practicing what you were preaching?
