If you don't fancy this exercise, anger can also be transmuted into the creation of your artwork. The Living Artist Canceled?Specialness
In this episode of The Living Artist, Preston covers the topic of "specialness". This idea of being special in your art and as an artist can be used as a catalyst and force multiplier with the creation of work and drive to succeed. However, taken to the extreme, this idea of "specialness" can isolate an artist from other artists, from certain career possibilities, from being able to enjoy the success of others, and can foster an overall close-mindedness that stunts further growth. Listen to this episode with an open mind and get ready for a topic that is riddled with duality and paradox. ;) Enjoy! For more information on Preston M. Intuition
In this episode of The Living Artist, Preston talks about the importance of trusting your intuition as an artist. We all need to learn to listen to that little voice in the back of our heads that is telling us to be careful, or avoid certain situations altogether. It is a skill that we can learn to develop like anything else, that can be used to protect some of our most precious and finite resources; our time, energy, hopes and dreams. Preston shares an example of trusting intuition in his own life and art career. Can you dig? It is a process like anything else, but learning how to get out of our own way might be the most important thing that we learn to do as artists and in life. Influence This...
In this episode of The Living Artist, Preston dives into the social media game. He starts by confessing to having a new guilty pleasure and how it opened his eyes to the birth and exponential growth of social media and the elusive social media "influencer" in our society. So, how do you play the social media game as an artist without getting sucked into the dark side of this world? The answer is: Use social media as a tool. Preston talks about how he avoids FOMO and depression by going onto social media with a game plan and limiting his time spent there. Trying to become Instafamous is not so easy, or fun for that matter. But using social media to further your art career? That's hot... For more information on Preston M. Interview with Taylor White
In this episode of The Living Artist, Preston speaks with North Carolina based artist Taylor White. Taylor's figurative work is bold, kinetic, and semi-abstract, combining "refined techniques of classical training with bright, unexpected color choices born from the residue of street art and pop culture". Taylor is perhaps best known for her energetic and vibrant commercial and non-commercial mural work. In this episode, Taylor speaks with Preston about her new and on-going solo exhibition "Pursuit Of Happiness", making sales and dealing with the public, hiring and training her own staff, her origins working in both Norway and Australia, Augmented Reality and NFTs in the art world, dealing with accountability and distraction, the progression to becoming a professional artist, focusing on the work and not making every gig so precious, advice to her younger self, and much much more. Taylor's interview needed to be cut a bit short due to a scheduling conflict, so be on the lookout for a Round 2. Enjoy! You can discover more of Taylor's work and read more of her story on her website (https://taylorwhite.art), or her Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/taylurk).
