Episode 009 - Rugged Computing + Docking Solutions For Public Sector Vehicles - An Interview with Havis Docking Solutions.
Public safety vehicles, such as police cruisers, fire trucks, and ambulances, travel with a plethora of mission-critical equipment essential to emergency and non-emergency response situations. Vehicles carry everything from rugged computing technology to officers, civilians, and other cargo-related items. Choosing the correct mounting and docking solutions is just as important as choosing the right computing equipment. Especially during a high-speed pursuit, a mobile computing device can quickly become a dangerous projectile if not correctly mounted. With the International Association of Chiefs of Police Show (IACP) in Dallas just a few days away, I thought it made sense to discuss the role that docking solutions play in the public sector. I recently sat down with David Skiver – From Havis's product team – a leader in mobile workforce docking solutions. In this episode, Dave and I discuss everything you need to know about rugged computing docking stations for police, fire & EMS. This will be a great episode you won't want to miss. Episode 0008 - So You Need a Rugged Computing Customization - An interview With Pro Custom Group
Rugged computers are engineered, designed, and built at their core to work and survive in extreme or harsh environments. However, an organization sometimes requires a customized mobile computing solution for a specific use case or mission.  Most rugged computer manufacturers are not in the business of customization. And while Getac offers a variety of pre-configured Select SKUs engineered for specific industry use cases, there are instances when a select SKU just isn’t a perfect match for a particular use case, and a Customized solution is really needed.  What if an organization has a critical need and the size/scope of the project isn’t a large-scale deployment, and the solution isn’t standard to COTS Rugged products? I recently sat down with Joe Schweon – of Pro Custom Group, the market leader in the customization of COTS rugged laptops, rugged notebooks, rugged servers, and tablet products. In this episode, Joe and I discuss how PCG makes customized rugged computing solutions possible for many customers and deployments, even as little as a one-unit deployment. This is a great episode you won’t want to miss.  If you find this podcast informative and like what you hear, please consider subscribing to our channel. During a crisis or emergency situation, the lives of first responders and public safety teams depend on reliable, real-time communication. When lives are at stake, communication equipment failure is not an option.  This 2-part episode of Getac's podcast - All Things Rugged, will discuss how first response teams prepare, execute, + communicate in emergency situations with state-of-the-art communication and computing equipment. On June 30, 2021, Getac hosted a webinar in partnership with Airgain, CradlePoint, and FirstNet - Built with AT&T for first responders and their teams.  The webinar focused on the connectivity challenges first responders face during a crisis and how wireless mobility can play a crucial role in improving the preparedness and efficiency of first response teams during an emergency.  This 2-part episode is a recap of that webinar. In part One - Randy Pfeifer - Wireless Strategist, and Larry Nichols - Senior Product Marketing Manager at Getac, will give an overview of Getac's rugged computing solutions, which are purpose-built for first response teams and their supporting agencies who make up Primary and Extended Primary user groups.
