This morning we focus on young creatives. I speak with Madison Starinieri and Liana King from Moonstone Arts Center which is sponsoring New Voices which features poets under the age of 25, encouraging high school and college students alike to submit their poetry for anthological consideration and participation in the Spring 2021 reading.

We also highlight an important new radio play produced by Philadelphia Young Playwrights. Written by Wissahickon High School Junior Katie Yu, the play PANDEMIC follows a college student as she navigates being Chinese American during the COVID-19 pandemic, while learning about her family’s experience in America during the Great Depression and amid the Chinese Exclusion Act. The topic is especially relevant during the recent rise in anti-Asian Bigotry tied to the COVID 19 pandemic. I speak to Katie and Philadelphia Young Playwrights Executive Director Lisa Nelson-Haynes
