The Golic & Smetty podcast is a great listen for those who are both sports and pop culture curious. Mike Golic and Jessica Smetana are an unlikely podcast pairing, if there ever was one. But a charming one nonetheless. He was ready to retire from a successful NFL career in the early nineties. Meanwhile, Smetana was still in the process of being born. (There's a bit of a generation gap between these two hosts.)
Suffice it to say, these two have had a different set of life experiences so far. That, mixed with their love for sports and pop culture, results in one hilarious episode after the other. The Golic & Smetty podcast is for those who are able to laugh at the news—and at themselves. About once a week, the pair gets together to chat "football and nonsense," as Smetty likes to put it. They dissect the most relevant topics of the week, sharing their thoughts on football, fashion, and growing up in different decades. That's also what makes their dynamic so entertaining and unique.
Golic & Smetty is part of DraftKings' media expansion efforts. They approached Golic after following his tweets online. His son, Mike Golic Jr., also joined the growing DraftKings media division in 2022. Michael Golic Sr. made a name for himself as an NFL player in the 1980s. From the mid-1990s, he worked for ESPN before leaving for other opportunities in 2021. One of his most notable gigs was the Mike & Mike radio show, which he cohosted with Mike Greenberg until 2017.
Jessica Smetana is a journalist who used to work for Sports Illustrated. She reported on college football, basketball, NFL, and more. She is also well known for her work on the Miami-based sports podcast The Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz.
Golic & Smetty have great chemistry together. Fans of all generations may enjoy this weekly podcast.
