From the Inside Out: Lifestyle Factors Affecting Bone Density with Dr. Doug Lucas
Hi everyone and welcome back for another episode of In Biolog. I’m your host Parker Condit, CEO and Co-Founder of Modo Bio.  My guest today is Dr. Doug Lucas, DO, FAAMM Board Certified Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine Physician Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Doug is a health optimization physician. Previously, he was a Stanford fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon – now retired from that field he is CEO and Founder of Optimal Bone Health where he and his team help patients optimize bone quality by reviewing lifestyle factors, genetics, extensive lab work, and functional testing.  Dr. Doug left his role in the traditional healthcare model as an orthopedic surgeon so he could help educate his patients and followers on how to prevent the surgeries he was trained to perform. We covered a lot in this show. The first half of the discussion is around bone health which includes what exactly osteoporosis is, his model using the 4 pillars of health (exercise, nutrition, sleep, and connection), how men and women differ when it comes to bone health and preventative measures, and how this is currently measured and assessed here in the US.  The second half of the conversation is more around his practice in Asheville, NC and we dive into our thoughts on where the healthcare industry is going in the future. Towards the end of the show, we briefly discuss ways that patients can be their own best advocates when it comes to their health – which is becoming a common theme among guests. There are a lot of gems in this show and we link to all the resources mentioned in the show notes as well.  So without further ado, I hope you enjoy my conversation with Dr. Doug Lucas.  Connect with Dr. Doug Lucas Website:OptimalBoneHealth.comWebsite: OptimalHumanHealth.comYouTube: DrDougLucasInstagram: Dr_DougLucasFacebook: Dr_DougLucas Other Resources Mentioned:Outlive by Dr. Peter AttiaMedicine 3.0Dexa Scan

Decentralized Healthcare: Building Transparency & Affordability with Franco Lofranco
Welcome back to In Biolog for episode 7 – I’m your host Parker Condit, co-founder and CEO of Modo Bio. Our guest today is Cavaliere Franco Lofranco. Franco’s parents moved from Italy to Canada at a young age and they instilled in him a work ethic and a sense of entrepreneurship. He started his first company at age 22. At the age of 24 he co-founded a company that became one of Canada's first high speed internet companies in the early 90s that grew into one of Canada's fastest growing companies. From there he expanded into sports, real estate, consulting, and eventually into direct sales where he built a global organization. One of his latest ventures, Impact Health Sharing, is a new model for health insurance that is de-centralized and provides transparency in an industry that is sorely lacking it. We speak at length about where some of the biggest inefficiencies are in the current US healthcare system. And we also go into how his upbringing in Canada has shaped his perspective on how to approach the US healthcare system as well as cultural differences between the countries. There is certainly some healthcare jargon in this episode like repricing, chargemaster, medical loss ratio, but we spend a fair amount of time breaking down those terms so they’re easily understood. If you want to get a better understanding of how health insurance works in the US so you can make better decisions for yourself and your family, this will be a great episode to check out. Without further ado, please enjoy my conversation with Franco Lofranco. Beyond Treatment: Redefining
Healthcare's Approach to Wellness with Drs. Tim & May Hindmarsh
Welcome back to In Biolog for episode 6. Our guests today are Drs. May and Tim Hindmarsh. May and Tim are a dual physician power couple who are both Board Certified Family Practice Physicians. They have practiced rural medicine, hospital, OB, and outpatient medicine for almost 30 years. They were born, raised, and trained in Canada and migrated to the US in 1994. Currently, they practice Urgent Care and are enjoying the adventures of podcasting as hosts of their own show, BS Free MD. They can also be spotted living their best life via their social channels which we have linked below. The goal of this episode was to extract what it’s like for physicians to operate in the healthcare system. I think there are a lot of misconceptions about what it’s like to work in this industry and perhaps to your surprise, many physicians are as frustrated as their patients if not more so.  We talk about their transition away from primary care and what drove them to make that change, how the environment and culture in the US makes it harder, not easier to be healthy, and why direct primary care is such a great model while being largely unheard of by patients in this country.  If you want to get an inside look at what it’s like to operate as a physician, learn more about direct primary care, and hear some progressive thoughts on how preventative care should be handled, this will be a great episode for you.  I hope you enjoy my conversation with Drs. May and Tim Hindmarsh.  Connect with Drs Tim and May: Website - https://bsfreemd.com/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/bsfreemdInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/bsfreemd/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/may-hindmarsh-md-61a667147/YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@bsfreemd Direct Primary Care Directory - https://mapper.dpcfrontier.com/

The Longevity Equation: Navigating Menopause and Women's Health with Kristin Mallon; CNM, MS, RNC-OB
On this episode of In Biolog, our guest is Kristin Mallon. Kristin is a board-certified nurse, midwife, menopause and feminine longevity expert, breast health expert, published author, and mother of four. She graduated from the University of California–Berkeley with a degree in psychology and completed her bachelor's degree in nursing at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing her Master's degree in science and midwifery at NYU, she began practicing as a board-certified nurse midwife in private practice in Brooklyn, New York. In 2022, she co-founded femme devotee, a telemedicine company focused on menopause and feminine longevity providing concierge care for women seeking personalized health care. This episode focuses on women's health, in particular the care gaps for women surrounding menopause. We start by looking at the healthcare industry to get a better idea of what the care gaps are and why they exist. Kristin goes into the Women's Health Initiative and how that study halted hormone replacement therapy and the implications of that about 20 years later. And then the second half of the episode is more at the individual level talking about metrics for measuring longevity lifestyle factors to improve your health today and for the future. And when women should start taking these proactive steps. For anyone who's interested in women's health, menopause, hormone replacement therapy or longevity, this episode will be extremely helpful for you. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Kristin Mallon. LEARN MORE Kristin Mallon LinkedIn FemGevity
