And then she was smiling and believing every word of it. And by the way, it was an amazing, fantastical story, which isn't exactly true, but that didn't matter. She was listening and he was telling and she was believing. And it felt like in that moment, like the older brother and the younger sister on the school bench in the playyard after school." [4:14 → 4:53] Positive Vibes Spreading: "What happens is when you give something or someone some attention, you give them energy. You really give them some of your life. It's a life giving exchange that that alone can spark others around you to do the same, and that can build momentum. And then in time, it can feel like an event or something that happens. That's a mini miracle." EP53 - My Uncle's Plea I Will Never Forget
I'm back with another short story as a sidekick caregiver that I'm calling Flip the Chip Moments.Because as you know, chip happens on your nails and in your life. But instead of letting the chips keep you down, you can decide to "flip" a challenge or difficultly that’s wants to hold you back into something more positive that helps you more forward.  These stories aren't just about caregiving or aging parents and relatives. There are about life.Today's story is about my uncle who is in hospice. After celebrating his 92nd birthday, he made a personal plea to me that I will never forget. His plea was heavy and sad and I thought I couldn't do a dang thing to help him. The chips in his life were definitely down.I've never faced a plea like this. I didn't know what to do. And then, an idea came to me.Yeah, don't give me credit. Must have been from God. I was just standing there with eyes like a deer in the headlights.  Listen to here what happened. To be notified when the next story is released, you can:1. Women’s Essential Relationships: Breakup Breakthroughs with Dr. Sherri Yoder

Women’s Essential Relationships: Breakup Breakthroughs with Dr. Sherri Yoder
Relationships are essential. Relationships help us get things done. And especially as women, our closest relationships have a tremendous impact on how we see ourselves and experience our everyday world. That’s why today I’m kicking off another mini-series called Women’s Essential Relationships. Together, we’re going to explore our relationships as adult women with senior parents, romantic partners, siblings, and female friends. Having been on this planet for several decades we’ve had chip happen in these relationships. How have these moments shaped us and at this point, what can we do to use those moments to become stronger, healthier, and happier?Today we are talking about breakup breakthroughs. If you’ve been in a romantic relationship where you believed it was your forever, and then it’s suddenly over, then you know the heartache and you have lots of questions that haunt you like “Will I ever get over it?”, “Why didn’t I see the signs?” and “Will I be able to love again?”Today’s gal pal Dr. Sherri has been there. She started using her clinical psychology training to identify and navigate through these questions to get to the other side and thrive again. Her book Breakup Breakthroughs: Asking and Answering the Hard Questions So You Can Thrive in the Trauma of a Relationship Breakup, serves as an invitation to the ultimate act of self-love, to understand yourself, your desires, expectations, motivations, and patterns on a deeper, more intentional level than ever before. In this episode, we talk about:Why pain is an essential part of thrivingWhy we don’t see the signs of a breakupWhat it really means to love yourselfTips for letting a relationship go after a breakupHere’s a glance:[6:18] Dr. Sherri goes deeper into why Dark Purple or Black are her go-to colors and how it nails her.[12:09] Dr. Sherri recounts the relationship breakup that inspired her to write her insightful book, Breakup Breakthroughs.[18:13] As a thought coach, Dr. Sherri stresses the necessary component of pain in growth and how growth is an essential part of thriving. [21:34] Mary asks Dr. Sheri to expound on three of the twelve questions from her book Breakup Breakthroughs. [46:29] Dr. Sherri shares her hopes and intentions for anyone who reads her book.[55:49] In the Flip the Chip segment, Mary highlights three of the questions Dr. Sherri suggests to guide you to your breakup breakthroughs.Shareables:“Length of time [in a relationship] does not get to dictate your heart's response or a level of grieving that is appropriate or inappropriate.” — Dr. Sherri Yoder on @livelikeyournailcolor“There is no growth that you will ever experience that is not painful. Pain is inherent in growth.” — Dr. Sherri Yoder on @livelikeyournailcolor“You can't thrive by dismissing how you feel. The only way you can grow is by investigating further how you feel.” — Dr. Sherri Yoder on @livelikeyournailcolor“We gaslight ourselves out of being honest with ourselves. Out of really evaluating a situation.” — Dr. Sherri Yoder on @livelikeyournailcolorDiscover more about Dr. Sherri: Breakup Breakthroughs: Asking and Answering the Hard Questions So You Can Thrive in the Trauma of a Relationship Breakupthrivingthoughtsglobal.org@Dr.SherriSpeaks on Instagram@Dr.SherriYoder on FacebookEpisode 39 with Dr. Sherri: Thriving One Thought at a Time For more inspiration and fun: Take the quiz and discover your nail color persona: mynailcolorpersona.comRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts —“Mary and the Live Like Your Nail Color podcast is inspiring and fun!” here (or https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/live-like-your-nail-color-podcast-with-mary-foley/id1621128078), scroll to the bottom, tap to rate with five stars, and select “Write a Review.”Plus, make sure to subscribe to the podcast. Renew for Resilience: Rejuvenate Your Financial Wellness with Mary Ashby
Quick question: On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being amazing, how would you rate your personal financial well-being right now? Now imagine if that number were higher. How would that impact your personal resilience as the economy and stock market inevitably rises and falls? Renew for Resilience: Lighten Your Home’s Toxic Load with Amy Fowler
Spring is in full swing, and time for another episode in the mini-series called Renew for Resilience. We’re talking about topics in your everyday life with the idea that if you and I consider this spring how we can renew these areas, we could boost our resilience to whatever may come our way. Because we’d be more prepared, strong, buoyant, durable, feisty, and quick to recover in this crazy, demanding world. Many don’t realize it, but some of the things we do to make our home cozy and clean, like candles, air fresheners, and cleaners are taxing our bodies way more than ever before, contributing to fatigue, mental fog, and sleep problems. Today’s gal pal has some simple ideas to diminish the home toxins that can help boost your resilience. To better understand how to lighten our home’s toxic load, I’ve invited my gal pal Amy Fowler to the podcast. Renew for Resilience: Feeling Strong and Fit
What are your plans for the weekend? There are so many fun events, festivals, and activities that call us each spring to come out and play. As a cycling enthusiast, I could fill my entire calendar up with the number of group rides offered up to me on Facebook. But I’ve got a problem, and maybe you have the same problem. I’m not ready for any of them. After months of not riding and not doing other exercise, I’m woefully out of shape. So, what can you and I do this spring to renew our physical strength? Especially as women over 40, what are some simple, but effective ways to feel strong and fit again to do all the activities we truly want to do? I invited my gal pal Brigit Kin-Carlton to be with us today. Brigit is the founder and owner of Bdefined, Personal Fitness & Wellness Defined, in Williamsburg, VA. Bridgit and her team offer a customized, holistic, time-efficient approach to personal training. Having worked in the fitness industry for over 30 years Bridgit has all the creds:  a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Management, Masters of Education in Exercise Science, plus lots of specialty certifications including Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Weightlifting Coach, Nutrition Coach, and Functional Aging Specialist. She competes in triathlons, road races and most recently won fourth in her class at a regional fitness competition! I, on the other hand, am competing with myself to get back to feeling strong and fit again.  This week we’re talking about how you can renew feeling strong and fit so you can  confidently do those activities. In this episode, we talk about:Common health challenges facing women over 40How to combat the biggest concern for aging womenOvercoming the excuses that keep you from moving moreSimple strength training exercises you can do right nowRealistic exercise goals for middle-aged womenHere’s a glance:[4:47] Brigit is a steady and reliable Solid Sister who recognizes that when chip happens, she gets off-balance. Becoming A Modern Leader with Sara Canaday
Are you willing to shake up the way you think, work, and lead? The relentless pace of business today is taking a serious toll on all of us. We might strive to be purpose-driven, impactful, and innovative, but we are often hijacked by never-ending to-do lists and constant crisis management. So, what is the solution? Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as throwing out the old rules and learning new ones. It’s about developing the insights to know when to follow conventional leadership wisdom and when to defy it. Today’s gal pal, Sara Canaday, is here to share some of those insights.Sara Canaday is an author, keynote speaker, and executive coach. Hope For Love Again with Mary Foley & Bill Eastman

Hope For Love Again with Mary Foley & Bill Eastman
Love is a wonderful thing. And a hard thing. And sometimes a tricky thing, especially after you’ve been through a tough relationship, or you’ve lost a partner. And, as you may have noticed in a few past episodes, I mentioned that a few months ago Bill and I got married. People have been curious and asking me for details. So, I asked Bill if he’d be willing to openly share a bit of our journey. Not because our relationship is a perfect role model or will be exactly like yours, but because in life’s twists and turns, with pain and joy, there’s still hope for love again. It is our desire that in the details we share you find yourself nodding, laughing, and feeling encouraged about the love you have or would like to have in your own life. At the end, I share 5 takeaways that are worth the trip.In this episode we talk about:The complexity of marriage vowsBreaking up in the middle of a relationshipWhen work is his mistressGetting even closer than you ever thought possibleHere’s a glance:[6:20] Preferring bare nails, Bill’s nail color persona is Naked Ned.[8:51] Bill shares his marriage history and suggests that many couples don’t understand the complexity and depth of marriage vows.[15:06] When Mary hired Bill’s company to do some work there was an almost instant trust between them.[20:36] An opportunity for a possible career change led Mary to tell Bill she was separated.[29:06] After dating for a while, Bill told Mary she may want to date other people and later, they broke up.[34:16] Mary and Bill describe the purpose and outcome of the index card incident.[42:59] After a long courtship, three months ago Bill and Mary said I do. They share their marriage story.[57:45] There is hope to find love again: Mary highlights 5 important takeaways.Shareables:“When I first met you I thought, who is that little pixie?” — Bill Eastman on @livelikeyournailcolor“I was big on — end one thing before you start another.” — Mary Foley on @livelikeyournailcolor“Love doesn’t always come in the package you were looking for.” — Mary Foley on @livelikeyournailcolorFor more inspiration and fun: Take the quiz and discover your nail color persona: mynailcolorpersona.comRate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts —“Mary and the Live Like Your Nail Color podcast is inspiring and fun!” here (or https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/live-like-your-nail-color-podcast-with-mary-foley/id1621128078), scroll to the bottom, tap to rate with five stars, and select “Write a Review.”Plus, make sure to subscribe to the podcast.
