You, Business Leader, are a Joseph (with Pierce Brantley) - LM0235
As a Christian business leader, do you sometimes feel lost or without a clear purpose? Have no fear! In this powerful episode, I talk with Pierce Brantley about calling within business. He is a businessman, minister, author, and host of The Eternal Entrepreneur. His latest book, Calling: Awaken to the Purpose of Your Work, dives deeply into this topic. After listening, you will have a greater understanding of how to use your skills and talents to fulfill God's purpose for you. ➡️ (Read the blog post) ➡️ (One click tweet) ➡️ (One click Facebook share) KEY TAKEAWAYS:You’re a modern-day Joseph God can teach you anything Where the world puts identity God’s definition of humility LINKS & RESOURCES: (PierceBrantley.co) Listen to Pierce’s podcast: (The Eternal Entrepreneur) Get Pierce’s book: (Calling: Awaken to the Purpose of Your Work) ABOUT PIERCE BRANTLEYPierce is a businessman, minister, renowned author and the podcast host of (The Eternal Entrepreneur). Through each book, he leverages his dual calling in business development and Christian men’s leadership to guide men toward success – whether on the job or in the home. Before the age of twenty-six, he’d launched, run, and sold a consulting company. He was a VP of a top ten PR firm in Dallas, and taught companies nationwide about using Christ-centered business principles. Since then, he’s consulted Fortune 500 companies like Panasonic, United Healthcare, Corning, Ericsson, and more. But he doesn’t account this success to himself. As the oldest of nine children, he grew up in the boondocks of East Texas and well below the poverty line. Total reliance on God, the need to provide for his family, and a strong work ethic borne of necessity, resulted in his drive. Today, he puts that same intense motivation into teaching men how to lead themselves and their families well. He’s also happily married to his wife, Kristie, in Dallas, TX. Here are things Pierce writes about: Being a Christian in the workplace Equipping yourself to lead like Christ Managing your business as a Christian Stewarding your life well Having a Christian perspective on current affairs ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP MOMENTThe world needs more great leaders, but leadership in God's Kingdom is upside down. What They're Not Telling You About Becoming a Leader - LM0220
Leadership is about more than just doing the right thing, it's also about knowing what that is. Listen to discover the value of discerning God's will.  (Read the Blog Post) (Share on Twitter) (Share on Facebook) We all want to do the right thing, but sometimes it's hard to know what that is. There are so many opportunities to serve that those of us who truly have a heart to serve have to be careful, or we can do more harm than good. If we're not careful, we could be walking in the PRESUMPTION that God will equip and empower us, without knowing for sure that we're actually CALLED. If we're doing the wrong thing (or the right thing at the wrong time or with the wrong people) we might be walking in the PRESUMPTION that God will equip us, without knowing for sure that we're actually CALLED. Let's be careful to always walk fully in God's calling and serve well as leaders. KEY TAKEAWAYS Choose wisely who and when you serve. Don't PRESUME God will equip you for something without first confirming that He's CALLED you to it. Be careful how you set expectations for yourself and others. Leadership Lessons From a Broken Ice Cream Machine - LM0219
Leadership is about so much more than being the boss. It's about doing what you need to do to set up and support your team members for success.  (Leadership Lessons From a Broken Ice Cream Machine) (One Click Tweet) (One Click Facebook Share) -- Bryan Entzminger and Scott McClelland ( continue their conversation) about what leadership lessons we can learn from a broken ice cream machine. They talk about commander's intent, the dangers of institutionalization, and the importance of truly supporting people--because sometimes what works for one person at one place and time will not work for another. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Leadership is leadership, no matter the situation. We can’t assume the same things will work for everyone, everywhere. There’s danger in organizational growth. The commander’s intent is a critical leadership principle. The Ice Cream Machine at McDonald’s is Broken Again … Why It Matters - LM0218
A broken ice cream machine at McDonald's might seem like a small thing, but it says something about priorities, leadership, and unmet expectations. (The Ice Cream Machine at McDonald’s is Broken Again … Why It Matters - LM0218) (One Click Facebook Share) ( One Click Tweet) How many times has this happened to you? You've been heading to a McDonald’s, excited about getting an ice cream cone. You get there, place your order in the Drive-Thru, and then discover that the machine is broken? If that's happened to you, you're not alone. But here's the deal - we ALL create "ice cream machine" experiences for our customers and partners from time-to-time. They come to us for that ONE THING, and we fail to deliver for them. And when that's the case, it all comes down to leadership. Our leadership. KEY TAKEAWAYS: It all comes down to leadership. We need to understand what our customers and partners value most. We need to understand when we’re missing the mark, and make changes to correct. The Key to True Transformational Leadership - LM0217

The Key to True Transformational Leadership - LM0217
The key to true transformational leadership is a willingness to be the first to change, to always be learning and engaging culture, and to invest time in deep relationships with others before ever trying to lead change. This may be one of the most challenging tasks for any leader, because it goes against our nature. But if we don’t do it, our attempts to affect real change will never work. Listen as Scott and Dr. Noah Manyika continue their conversation about transformational leadership. Listen to Discover: The one kind of expectations most likely to put us into an awkward position or make us feel like we’ve been blindsided. When cross-cultural missionaries can assume they’ve dug deep enough into understanding culture and relationships (hint: never). How our expectations can create a great chasm between what we think we’re communicating and what is actually heard and how it’s understood. Why we should prepare as though the unexpected will happen (and why it’s biblical). Why understanding and connecting with people is the key.
