My Spirit, My Responsibility
Do you realize that your spirit is your responsibility? In Proverbs 25:28 it says, “whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls.”When your spirit is like a city with broken down walls it makes that city defenseless.Perhaps your spirit, your city, has had its defense system against attacks become damaged or maybe it has tumbled down altogether. What makes your spirit vulnerable for attack? If we don’t take care of investing in and pouring into our spirit, it can become weak. The Lord has been showing me the power of living on manna from Him daily, and not to rely upon What I got yesterday or last year or even from previous years of strength in God,But instead, to DAILY feed my spirit, get daily Manna, provision, from spending time with Jesus. This builds up your city walls, repairs cracks in the foundation and breaches in our fortificationsThat become open to every kind of imaginable attack.Attacks come from our own mind, our own misunderstanding, from situations we didn’t expect, from people , from our loved ones, and from the devil. But in any of these, we have a choice to make for how our spirit will respond. If our spirit has not been fortified by God’s presence and time in His Word, then we are already weakened. The reason why it’s vital to take responsibility for your spirit is that : Your spirit make way for you in life. Your spirit is the key to your future, whether it’s one minute or hour or year from now, your spirit is the gateway. In Proverbs 4:23, it says that we should guard it all diligence.Poor choices, lack of wisdom and understanding, emotional instability, unmet needs, unforgiveness, pride. These all lead to weakening our spirit, which leaves us open and vulnerable for assault. Assault can come in many ways to distract, tempt, misguide, and take us completely out of mission. So what is your mission that you are needing to show up for with a strong spirit? It’s being a wife, a mother, a business owner, a homemaker, a friend, a sister, a daughter, a pastor, an encourager.Daniel 6:3 says that Daniel had an excellent spirit. It was this quality that changed how King Nebuchadnezzar viewed him, and as a result of Daniel’s spirit, he was favored and promoted.Your spirit is your light. It’s what attracts favor in your life. If you’ve been asking for a promotion, something to happen in your marriage, an answered prayer, a miracle, then focus on the health and purity of your spirit.Ask yourself:Are you teachable? Humble? Obedient to God? Do you listen more than you prove your point? There are many spirits that you simply cannot teach. You cannot teach an arrogant spirit, a know-it-all spirit, or a proud spirit. But you can teach a humble one.PRAYER: Lord, help me to lead my heart and spirit to Jesus daily, that my spirit may be excellent, pure, radiant, and right before you, Lord. Bring to mind anything that has caused me to live ‘wounded’, and enable me to have a right spirit. Renew a right spirit within me. Increase my purity to see how to fortify it, how to listen to your voice, and know and obey your will that I may walk into my glorious future and Your good plans for my life. Reveal leaks in my spirit that sabotage its health. Open doors of opportunity for me because of what you are doing in my spirit. Help me, God, to resist a polluted spirit, so that I can be free to be generous to others.JOIN LIVING AURAIf you are a daughter of the King who wants to grow in her faith, join the Living Aura Movement today for monthly lessons, prayer, journal prompts, special guest speakers, and faith activators delivered right into your member portal.
