Gary Spears talks about using breakthrough to support community

Gary Spears talks about using breakthrough to support community
Host Rebeccah Silence turns the tables, interviewing big-hearted radio personality “Big Poppa” Gary Spears, usually the guy in the interviewer seat.  Gary knows what it takes to be a trusted voice, using his platform on the air to support his community.  On the podcast he shares his thoughts on what it takes to be a credible spokesman.  Gary’s story will inspire you to believe that you can become a person of influence in your community too.    Gary likens experiencing breakthrough in life to playing a video game—a player grows by breaking through one level at a time, earning more power and weapons to better equip them to achieve the next level.  One of the ways he’s done it was to co-create, with Rebeccah, two radio shows to help listeners lead their best lives.  With titles like “Confession Tuesday” and “Wellness Wednesday” there’s little doubt why the audience grew.    The emphasis on being local and supporting local is at the heart of earning the trust and respect of the community.  Gary’s genuine enthusiasm for his job and his passion for connecting with his listeners and ability to be vulnerable have allowed him to become someone whose opinion is valued.  Any movement can begin with a single person, willing to share their story, attracting like-minded individuals.      Gary’s advice if you don’t see a path to following your passion?  “Blaze the trail.”  Connect with Gary Spears on all social media outlets @bigpoppacny.  We’re always Tougher Together! Fall in love with everyone you meet: healing through relationships

Fall in love with everyone you meet: healing through relationships
We all crave it.  We all need it.  What is it?  It’s cliché, but 100% true, love is the answer.  And it wins every time.  On this episode host Rebeccah Silence gives valuable insight and practical advice on how love can heal your relationships.  If you take away only one truth from this podcast, learn this: others are not responsible for making you feel.  Only you control the way you feel.  With that knowledge Rebeccah will guide you into falling in love with yourself more deeply—and everyone you meet.  What is love?  Love is the experience of being connected.  Rebeccah highlights some of the pitfalls that keep us from this connection: Measuring Love, Dishonesty, Withholding, Unclear Boundaries, to name a few.  If we can recognize the things that trip us up, we can eliminate them.  So, how do you get more love?  You gotta give more love.  Even when it means loving the unlovable.  When it comes to love, in childhood many of us learn we need to earn.  But what if we were to stop measuring love and simply focus on giving more of it to everyone, whether we believe they deserve it or not?  Too often we blame others when our relationships aren’t working.  But our relationships aren’t hurting us, rather, they are a mirror to show us where we haven’t healed yet.  Rebeccah outlines a three-step process to help maintain independence and stay true to ourselves while being committed to others.  The outcome?  True breakthrough in radical self-love and the ability to fall in love with everyone you meet.  In closing, Rebeccah answers questions on how to heal and have healthy loving relationships, beginning with the most important person in your life, YOU.  Rebeccah Silence, is a speaker, coach and international media personality, who survived cancer while pregnant and has impacted hundreds of thousands of listeners through her radio programs and appearances.  She is the Creator of the HEALING IS POSSIBLE movement and courses and is committed to helping others heal their traumas.  As a certified world-class Emotional Healing Coach, Rebeccah is uniquely qualified to facilitate breakthroughs to wellness and transformation while she inspires hope and possibility in even the most challenging times. Dr. Darlene Sampson on committing to practicing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Dr. Darlene Sampson on committing to practicing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Author, social worker, educational consultant, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) trainer Dr. Darlene Sampson believes that right now, you can be changed for the better by listening to this podcast.  Host Rebeccah Silence wants to know what can those who enjoy skin color privilege do to be true allies to those who experience racism?  Because, for our fellow human beings who do suffer from racial discrimination, it’s exhausting.  As a Black woman Darlene knows how hurtful it can be to feel ‘invisible’ and she assists her clients in using empathy to break through false narratives on all forms of discrimination.  But, in DEI work, breakthrough can be scary.  Allyship can be costly so it’s important to know the risks.  For example, are you willing to call out a microaggression, say a racially charged comment or joke, on the job or online?  So where can we start?  By getting to know people who aren’t like us.  Who in your world doesn’t look, think and act like you?  Who did you learn as a child was bad and who was good?  Darlene says, “When we don’t know each other, that’s when we don’t care for each other.”  Therefore, it’s essential to seek opportunities to build relationships with people who are different from you.  And to be honest with yourself about how uncomfortable it may make you feel.  Knowing your biases is an important first step.  If you have privilege, recognize it and use it for good.  Let curiosity be your guide.  If someone tells you a story of the impact of racism in their lives, believe them; don’t minimize.  Instead, ask to hear more.  We can strengthen our empathic muscles by extending love and kindness to those who may not look like us, but who share our common human experience, and that makes us all more alike than we might think.  A powerful and conscious-raising conversation, Rebeccah and Darlene get to the heart of the matter and discuss ideas for taking action to build a better world and to eliminate racism and intolerance.  Don’t beat yourself us; wake up.  What can you do today that says you care?  To learn more about Dr. Darlene Sampson check out https://darlenesampson.com/.  We’re always Tougher Together! Generational healing is possible, and the results are bigger than we are.
Oct 7 2021
Generational healing is possible, and the results are bigger than we are.
Generational healing begins with the person in a family system who bravely decides to break inherited pain patterns passed from parents to children, often without realizing it.  For most of us, our parents are our primary teachers, and their parents before them.  Cycles of abuse, poverty, or mental illness can continue to negatively impact future generations.  The good news?  Healing and transformation are possible, and the positive effects are just as far reaching!    Host Rebeccah Silence shares her journey to love and accept her body, which was a constant source of shame, passed down to her from her mother.  She made the decision to end the war with her body and instead radically appreciate it for all the joy it has brought her, sustaining not only her life, but that of her child.  It suddenly made sense that if she was still alive, even if she had cancer, her body was in fact fighting for her!  What an incredible breakthrough!    Extending that love to her mom represented another shift—the realization that her mother did the best she could, and she was not to blame.  Healing begins with acknowledging the patterns but taking responsibility for our own change, regardless of others.  It’s possible to do this transformational work without anyone’s support.  Instead focus on letting others love us the best way they know how.    The work of generational healing is bigger than the person who decides to make the change.  Future generations reap the benefits.  You can change the game.  You get to decide.  What’s the generational war you need to end?  Rebeccah answers questions on generational pain patterns with advice on how to heal.  Rebeccah Silence, is a speaker, coach and international media personality, who survived cancer while pregnant and has impacted hundreds of thousands of listeners through her radio programs and appearances. Eric Plantenberg celebrates freedom and abundance at last!

Eric Plantenberg celebrates freedom and abundance at last!
Mountaineer, entrepreneur, extreme sports athlete, husband and father, Eric Plantenberg knows the power of breakthrough and living a free and abundant life.  He’s summited Mt. Everest.  He’s a four-time IRONMAN competitor.  He’s launched multiple businesses and done something else not many have done—spent time in a federal prison.  But he didn’t let that stop him from living his best life.  In fact, he used it to his advantage.  At the tender age of 17, as a college freshman, Eric decided he was going to live the life he wanted, not the one others wanted for him.  His choice, and his experience, led him to define freedom as the capacity to choose.  Yet, through trials, he also saw the difference between who people perceived him to be on the outside, and how he felt on the inside.  “I felt like I had arrived and was sucking at the same time,” he says of those early years.  If freedom is the capacity to choose, abundance comes in being present.  Even when things aren’t going well, take comfort in knowing that right here, right now, you are everything and have everything you need.  Don’t compare yourself to someone who looks like they have it all figured out.  Everyone is imperfect.  Eric defines breakthrough as the state of the mind, body and spirit being aligned.  Breakthrough, which can be physical or emotional, is growth over time with persistence.  Whether you’re learning a new skill or entering a new relationship, breakthrough takes work.  He recalls a powerful moment, a gift really, that his wife gave him—permission to be himself.  Despite all his success in business, up to that point he still didn’t know that he didn’t need to earn love.  Finally, Eric teaches that gratitude is a choice.  His challenge?  Make a list of what’s NOT going well in your life.  Make another list of all that your grateful for.  Now you can choose where to focus and your gratitude will be authentic because you aren’t ignoring what’s wrong.  Experiencing these four concepts of freedom, abundance, breakthrough and gratitude, Eric climbs all of life’s mountains, and you can too!  Connect with Eric Plantenberg on YouTube, Linkedin and on Twitter @ericplantenberg.  We’re always Tougher Together! Artist Brianna Martray embraces the contrast of light and dark.
Sep 23 2021
Artist Brianna Martray embraces the contrast of light and dark.
Brianna Martray decided in her mid-twenties that creating the life she truly wanted, that of a fulltime artist, was a risk worth taking.  As she became successful and demand for her work grew, she realized that one thing needed to change—end her alcohol addiction or die.     Brianna chose life and began the process of transforming her life breakthrough after breakthrough, one step at a time.  Taking a break from the studio to get sober taught her the power of eliminating negative self-talk and listening to her gut.  She wanted more than anything to realize her full potential as a sober person and as an artist, so she bravely took the path of discovering this new identity.    Even when we are clear about what we want, we still need to embrace the process of change which involves living with darkness, in other words, embrace the contrast.  Remaining open and aware of opportunities for growth, no matter how painful they may be, is the key to being your most authentic self.  The other key?  Being gentle with yourself throughout the process.  Brianna’s advice is to notice, without judgment, what is negative and gently redirect it to something positive.    Creativity, in all its forms, is cathartic and can lead to breakthrough.  After all, the purpose of art is the same as life, to share it, while loving others and ourselves deeply.  If you’d like to learn more about Brianna Martray, visit her website www.brainnamartray.com or email her at briannamartray@gmail.com.  We’re always Tougher Together!  Please tune in to other episodes of our Breakthrough podcast and explore the human connection between us. Hope is always available. Rebeccah reminds us to turn hope on!
What is your relationship with hope?  Are you afraid to hope?  Are you feeling hopeless?  Consider that there is no life without hope.  For host Rebeccah Silence staying connected to hope became her lifeline on her cancer journey.  She learned from her own experience and from thousands of others that hope brings light and life and when we choose to hope, we can face our fears and decide we have what it takes to win. The outcome may be out of our control, but choosing hope is always within our grasp.  It may not be easy, but it is simple—as simple as fantasizing about what you DO want.  Having a vision for your life forces you to turn hope on and dial hope up.  Hope gives you access to your imagination and flirting with the possibilities.  Surrounding yourself with those who encourage you to hope will only strengthen your resolve. Challenge, fear, doubt, hopelessness, they are all real.  But with hope you are more powerful than your circumstances.  Life can give you what you believe is possible. Heather Steele, A Breakthrough Life

Heather Steele, A Breakthrough Life
“Heather Steele shares what it takes to have a breakthrough life.”  Heather Steele knows beyond any doubt that she trains the world’s best life coaches.  How does she do it?  She trains coaches to focus on helping their clients live their best lives.  Period.  As the founder of Legacy Training International, she uses her holistic approach, rooted in the client’s innate ability to grow, learn and heal to teach people to have a breakthrough life, not just a string of emotional highs or immediate gratification.  What exactly is breakthrough?  Heather explains that when she’s in a place of ease and flow, she’s experiencing breakthrough.  But to live a breakthrough life, you need a serious commitment to creating a vision for yourself and, what she calls, “a practice of impeccability” where intentions and actions align.  It’s not about being perfect, but rather, being responsible for yourself and making a difference for others.  Small decisions have a huge ripple effect.  When you take responsibility for your words and actions your life expands.  When you get rid of things that consume your energy but don’t align with your life’s purpose, you are free to do what’s good for yourself and others.  It’s important to have the right support network to do the work of emotional healing, and that’s what Heather’s business of training holistic life coaches is all about.  The more qualified coaches there are, the stronger the network and possibility of every person living a breakthrough life.  Heather will challenge you to clear out the cobwebs of your mind!  What are you listening to?  Are you surrounding yourself with like-minded, positive people?  Are you sharing love?  Thinking of things in terms of light and dark, not good and bad, is the first step to clarity.  Everyone has preferences.  It’s when we try to control other people’s choices, that we lose the ability to connect and influence.    Be a seeker of impeccability.  You’ll be humbled by the fact that you can never get there.  The gain is in the striving.  To learn more about Heather Steele, check out https://www.heathersteele.com/.  We’re always Tougher Together! Teddy Herzog reminds us to never give up on love.

Teddy Herzog reminds us to never give up on love.
“Teddy Herzog reminds us to never give up on love.”    So, you’ve had your heartbroken.  More than once.  Maybe you feel like just throwing in the towel.  Before you do, listen to Teddy Herzog’s story.  He’s a master at remodeling old houses, an author and coach but it took him decades to get his inside to match his outside.  Teddy had everything he thought he ever wanted: a great marriage, a daughter, and a successful business.  But inside he felt something wasn’t right—he just couldn’t do it anymore.  After 25 years he divorced his wife.  He spent the next ten years in one dating relationship after another, had a second failed marriage and spent down his wealth before he began the tough work of learning to love the most important person, himself.  Breaking through for Teddy meant healing childhood traumas and unlearning codependency.  He realized he was consistently looking to his female partner for his own happiness.  He didn’t have strong relationships with men either.  He knew he needed to plant his feet on solid ground.  With Rebeccah’s help Teddy set about doing the deep emotional work of letting go and learning to allow himself to connect with his own feelings.  His healing has positively impacted his finances, his self-image, and his health.  He says he enjoys a deep sense of relaxation he’s never had.  Teddy’s advice?  Get still and quiet, identify your emotions without judgment and allow yourself to feel.    Turns out for Teddy, the third time’s a charm.  He finally found the love of his life, his wife Carol.  Their marriage is built upon truth and vulnerability, not needing her to fill him up or tell him what to do.  He continues to be committed to cultivating an abundant life with his family in sunny Petaluma, California.  His story is a testimony to the power of not giving up on love.  Are you ready for your love story?   If you would like to connect to Teddy Herzog, he’d love to hear from you at teddyherzog@yahoo.com.  We’re always Tougher Together! Life’s Tough, But We’re Tougher Together – BREAKTHROUGH! “America’s Life Coach” Helps Us to Understand What Breakthrough is and How to Find it In Our Own Lives!
Is Breakthrough always a moment, or can it be a season? Our host, Rebeccah Silence, spends some time with Life Coach Stephen Lovegrove on today's podcast, and they share some insight on the Breakthrough process.  Tune in and hear what they have uncovered for themselves and others!  Stephen tells us the in the Breakthrough process, something shifts in your awareness… your mindset or consciousness.  Sometimes called the soul, your consciousness is the part of you that is alive.  When everything else is stripped away, your consciousness lies at the heart of who you are.  In business, times are often scary, dealing with the unknown. To bring about substantial, lasting change, you have to show up in a new way persistently and consistently. This is how change happens. Remember that while it’s happening, change will feel hectic.  Another thing to learn and remember is that change must happen from the inside out… not the other way around. One of the best ways to make this occur is by seeing yourself in a new way.  Stephen shares the three truths about Breakthrough and teaches us about the Law of Repulsion and removing the block that stands between Breakthrough and you!  The topic of Roots and Wings came up. A discussion of the importance of both, working together to affect change in you. Stay rooted, but work on flying…  Use safety and permission together, as they are essential for you to grow and align with your vision.  If you would like to learn more about Stephen Lovegrove, go to his website. Life’s Tough, but We’re Tougher Together - BREAKTHROUGH! This Coach and Healer Helps Us Use the Mind-Body Connection to Heal Trauma and Release Weight!
How often do we feel connected to our bodies and aware of our nervous systems? It’s not uncommon to feel disconnected from our own bodies. Achieving weight loss is difficult without breaking down and going deeper to heal childhood wounds to the nervous system. On the Tougher Together Breakthrough podcast, our host, Rebeccah Silence, sat in with Audra Baker to discuss the characteristics that make Breakthrough such a big part of change and growth.  Breakdown is where Breakthrough starts. It’s often called “rock bottom,” a place where there’s nowhere to go but up. Audra explains that sometimes Breakthrough is sudden, like a “light bulb moment.” Still, it often takes a while to shake out of the breakdown without doing considerable work. Sometimes, Breakthrough is a series of baby steps in the right direction.  Whatever the rate of change, Breakthrough that causes lasting change requires a shift in the nervous system. As Audra puts it, “You can’t willpower or positive affirmation through it.” As you repair these wounds to your nervous system, you can begin the process of healing and reconnect with your body and your feelings.   The connection can start with breathwork, and you can start simply with a deep belly breath… noticing your breath and the sensations in your body. When you are lost in your thoughts, notice what you are feeling. Connecting with your body and feelings is key to achieving Breakthrough. Audra’s best advice: Learn to expand your capacity to feel your feelings.  If you would like to learn more about Audra Baker, go to her website. We’re always Tougher Together! She had “everything.” She was happily married, had a lovely home, beautiful children, successful career… yet she was unfulfilled. She did all the things a person “should” do. But it wasn’t until she learned to appreciate Breakdown and Breakthrough that she could realize her vision. Join us on the Tougher Together Breakthrough podcast as host Rebeccah Silence and her guest, Anne Mank, talk about Anne’s Breakthrough!  Anne couldn’t quite put her finger on the missing piece but knew that she wasn’t happy, despite her success in business and life. A business coach asked her, “What do you really want to do?” She responded, saying she wanted to run a 5k race. She was so wrapped up in doing what other people wanted her to do that she felt the world would fall apart if she took time for herself.  One of the first things she had to do was make her own rules instead of relying on and adhering to rules made by outside sources. Once she started making leaps towards her own happiness, she found it easier and even more meaningful with each successive change.  She compares her transformation from CPA/Rule Follower to Wealth Advisor/Disruptor as nothing less than caterpillar to butterfly. During the podcast interview with Rebeccah, Anne shares her three-step formula to making real change and moving towards your joy. She’s passionate about disrupting the money conversation for women, so we can talk about money and investing instead of shying away from financial topics.   This behavior and these decisions did not come naturally and actually involved quite a bit of fear, resistance, and hesitation. Learn how she overcame these roadblocks to happiness and built the life she wanted. Beyond vision, you have to put in the work to make the changes for yourself.  If you would like to learn more about Anne Mank, go to her website. We’re always Tougher Together! Life’s Tough, But We’re Tougher Together – BREAKTHROUGH! Rebeccah Silence Discusses the Dangers of Needing to be Needed!
One of life’s complexities is the need to be needed. You make a common mistake when you need to have a role in other people’s lives. Rebeccah Silence talks about this on the Tougher Together Breakthrough podcast. She lets us know that it’s okay to care and natural to want to help, but it’s a fine line between helping people with what they need, as opposed to making it about you and what you need.  When we NEED to be needed, we typically get a result that’s different from our intention. We push people away when our ego becomes involved, and we come across as needy.  Most people are not looking to be saved but to be seen, heard, and held capable. Beware of lowering the bar with those you want to help. Adopting a victim mindset will not help them at all, so don’t approach them from that angle.  Don’t let your best intentions turn into a “take” instead of a “give.” Help in a way that empowers and do so without attachment to outcomes. Focus on connection to build possibilities for others.  Rebeccah takes some questions on this and other topics and gives insightful answers to wind up this heartfelt podcast episode.  Rebeccah Silence is a speaker, coach, and international media personality, who survived cancer while pregnant and has impacted hundreds of thousands of listeners through her radio programs and appearances. Life’s Tough, But We’re Tougher Together – BREAKTHROUGH! This Successful Attorney Tells Us How to Be Courageous and Take Stock of Our Lives!
Have you ever felt like life was closing in on you?  That one aspect of your life was putting the other areas in jeopardy?  If so, you won’t want to miss this podcast! Our host, Rebeccah Silence, chatted with attorney Nick Passalacqua on the Tougher Together Breakthrough podcast. Nick shares his story and explains what Breakthrough has done in his life!  Nick was leading a stressful life, trying to get his law practice off the ground, with a wife and kids at home. He was always feeling conflicted and under pressure to be doing something other than what he was doing at that time. When he was home, at his wife’s request,  he knew he should be working at his fledgling law firm. When he was on the job, he felt like he should be home with his family.   When their third child was born, she received a cancer diagnosis at seven weeks, and priorities came into focus. Once his daughter gained a complete recovery, all the old dynamics came back full force.   For Nick, he realized that he needed to change his path. Divorce was not something that he wanted, but at this point, the relationship wasn’t serving anyone, including the kids. He was courageous and decided that he and his wife should separate. The work they did with Rebeccah helped to clarify things for both of them.  Now, through co-parenting, all the time he spends with his kids is “better time.”  Nick explains that you’re only as good as what you tolerate. Success comes from knowing what you will and will not tolerate in life. Deciding to stop tolerating certain behaviors or relationships can empower you to look at all aspects of your life and take inventory to realize what’s standing in the way of living the way you want your life to be.   If you would like to learn more about Nick Passalacqua, go to his website. Tougher together: Breakthrough - This Healer Reminds Us to Stay Open-Minded and Consider Future Possibilities!
Recently, Rebeccah Silence, host of the Tougher Together Breakthrough podcast, welcomed Dr. Nathan Kennedy to sit with her. They talked about what breakthrough means to him and heard his views on healing.  This exciting conversation turned to a discussion of possibilities, resiliency, and being willing to think outside the box!  Dr. Kennedy makes the observation that people only look for stuff if they think it’s there.  Many people will tell you that something is impossible, but they have never tried it or explored the idea.  We learn more from trying things that most people are not doing.    Some of the best ways to learn or approach something from a different angle come from meeting people. Instead of asking about their accreditation, ask the question, “Can you help me?” Another way of gathering information seems obvious but is often overlooked.  Increase your general and specific knowledge by reading and learning about different types of subjects… Learn Everything you Can!  Sometimes a possibility will reveal itself from an unexpected source. Dr. Kennedy  reminds us that “Learning Leads to Breakthrough.”  Healing starts with emotions and beliefs. Be open-minded, try new things, and stick with them.  Your feelings and thoughts can prevent you or encourage you… depending on how you feel and what you believe.  Let your experience form your beliefs, instead of what you hear from others.  The benefit of breakdown is that it forces you to change your thinking.  If you are interested in learning more about Dr. Nathan Kennedy, and you should, you can find out more about him on his website. Life’s Tough, But We’re Tougher Together – BREAKTHROUGH! Rebeccah Silence Explains How Being Blindsided Can Give Us Huge Growth Opportunities!
Control plays a significant role in most of our lives, and we like to think that by planning things out, we can predict and control what happened to us in the future. On the Tougher Together Breakthrough podcast, host Rebeccah Silence shares her experience and observations about being blindsided… something with which she’s had a lot of personal experience.  We all like to plan and control our lives. Letting go of control is tough. We have to face the fact that all we can really control is our emotional reaction to anything that comes into our lives.  Does being blindsided do anything for us?  Consider this… Being blindsided is like a wake-up call. When it happens, it’s time for you to learn to connect to a higher version of yourself. You can’t afford to lose sight of the strength within yourself.  Rebeccah tells us of her experience being blindsided by a cancer diagnosis while she was pregnant and 34 years old. Talk about blindsided… that was not even a remote thought at the time. They say that what you go through, you should grow through. Rebeccah is a sterling example of this.  Listen and learn how to view and cope with being blindsided when it happens to you… and it will. It happens to all of us!  Pay attention to your intentions, actions, and emotions. And, if you can, take the opportunity to reinvent yourself when necessary. Who are you going to be?  Rebeccah Silence is a speaker, coach, and international media personality, who survived cancer while pregnant and has impacted hundreds of thousands of listeners through her radio programs and appearances.
