Do you have something in your past that you are ashamed of? Scared to talk about something you have gone through? You are not alone! Lauren talks about how she has worked through some difficult things and she can now talk about them with the hope it helps others. Learn how she worked through shame to be able to open up and share her story. As a sportscaster and former collegiate gymnast, Lauren is passionate about sports, but even more passionate about telling the stories of the coaches, athletes, and fans who make it more than a game. Her life was not always defined by victories. In 2003 as a freshman at Rutgers University, tragedy struck her world when she unexpectedly lost both parents within hours of each other to their concealed battle with prescription drug addiction. On her journey through grief, Lauren bravely emerged from the shadows of shame, embraced her story, and found hope again. “I carried that shame until I finally realized I wouldn’t let the pain I harbored define me, just like it didn’t define my parents.” Lauren realized that embracing her story and making peace with it had the power to heal, and she could inspire others to do the same. Through her authenticity and vivid storytelling, Lauren’s presentations take listeners on an emotional passage that ignites gratitude and a reimagined purpose in their lives. “Your story is significant. Learn to love it, then do something with it.” Connect with Sprinkled with Hope:  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sprinkledwithhopepodcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/sprinkledhope20Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/sprinkledwithhopejason_shane/ email: info@sprinkledwithhope.com

Her feature film debut as Eva Benitez in the Image Award-nominated MTV film, Freedom Writers (2007), alongside Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank, put her in the ranks of some of the biggest names in the industry. An actress with a blend of unlimited expression and humor, the Bronx (NY) native made her stage debut at the famous New York Comedy Club in New York City as a stand-up comedienne. As an actress, April expanded her stage experience to television. 188- Undergoing the Unexpected with Jillian Benfield
Undergoing Transformation: Mother of Child with Disabilities Shares How God Uses Unexpected Seasons  When unexpected moments change life’s trajectory, we’re left with a choice: Do we overcome the unexpected, as the world recommends, or undergo it? Author Jillian Benfield says undergoing an unexpected season begins a transformation that deconstructs our old self and reconstructs us into who God intends us to become.  In her book The Gift of the Unexpected, Jillian uses her own life-altering moment—her son’s Down syndrome and congenital heart defect diagnoses— to encourage readers not to gloss over the hard parts of the human condition. Instead, she says, undergoing the unexpected gives us the opportunity to let go of our old selves, tearing down false beliefs about our identities, humanity, and the divine.  “Intense. Stunning. Needed. Jillian’s words will help you discover beauty in the unexpected.” Leslie Means, creator of Her View From Home In a culture where the prosperity gospel (control) and the American dream (achievement) are glorified, God uses the unexpected to disorient us from the ideals of Western society. His surprising gift equips believers to relate to the world’s pain and recognize how our worth and purpose rest in Him.  “I believe your unexpected moment, your unexpected life, holds the same potential for you,” Jillian writes. “But only if you resist society’s instance on overcoming the unexpected and choose instead to undergo it.”  The Gift of the Unexpected releases with Bethany House on January 17, 2023.  Jillian Benfield is a former journalist and news anchor. She holds a broadcast journalism degree from the University of Georgia. As a freelance writer, her essays about living an unexpected life have appeared on sites such as TODAY, Good Morning America, Yahoo! News, and ABC News. Jillian regularly advocates for the full inclusion of people with disabilities in her writings, in her community, and as a part of the National Down Syndrome Congress’s National Down Syndrome Advocacy Coalition.  http://jillianbenfield.com/ Connect with us on social media: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKvKY93BmNp9D-uuStspcEQ https://www.facebook.com/sprinkledwithhopepodcast https://twitter.com/sprinkledhope20 https://www.instagram.com/sprinkledwithhopejason_shane/ email : info@sprinkledwithhope.com
184 - Unlock Your Superpower with Michelle Kuei

184 - Unlock Your Superpower with Michelle Kuei
At age 11, Michelle was permanently disabled in a car accident that froze her growth at 4’ 4” and left her needing crutches to walk. By her own admission, she wasn’t just physically small – she used to live her life emotionally small. The hardest part of living with a visible disability was the shame and unworthiness she carried in her heart and mind. So she embarked on what began as just a physical fitness journey – and evolved into a life-transformation journey when she decided to join her gym mates in their quest to climb Machu Picchu in Peru.  She hiked up the 26 miles of ascending trail, 8-10 hours daily. She had to bandage her wrists so they wouldn’t break as they took a load of her body weight with every step on her crutches. She ultimately ascended the peak … crawling on her hands and knees at the end, to the cheers of those in her party who had been strangers at the outset of the journey. When she came home, she was changed forever. The voices of shame and doubt about her body were gone. She was free to live life fearlessly. And to help others do the same. To guide them along their own journey to becoming fearless and limitless, to having the courage to say "yes" to their own Machu Picchu -- those challenges that too often intimidate them into inaction. Her message, and the experiences that birthed it, are both a balm and an emboldened for leaders today. Those who need encouragement and equipping to pass along to those they lead find it daily through Elevate LifeCoaching, her speaking engagements, and her podcast. https://elevatelifecoaching.org/ Find Sprinkled with Hope on social media: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKvKY93BmNp9D-uuStspcEQ https://www.facebook.com/sprinkledwithhopepodcast https://twitter.com/sprinkledhope20 https://www.instagram.com/sprinkledwithhopejason_shane/
