Our Editor's Take

Two Strike Noise - A Baseball History Podcast looks at the sport's prominent characters and incredible stories. It doesn't do so in the way people might first assume. Instead, this podcast provides some less common information. The show might analyze jersey numbers. It could offer pitches for reality shows starring retired players. Listeners may never be able to guess what the hosts will bring out next from the dugout.

The podcast includes a plethora of baseball nostalgia, little-known facts, and random trivia. The hosts use the show to pitch their baseball-related ideas and share opinions. Topics stray from a player's contribution to the game to unfortunate uniform news. One minute, they could be talking about new records. The next, they are discussing crazy fines handed out at the grounds. It's a lively mixture.

Podcast hosts Jeff and Mark are part sports fanatics and part comedians. The pair have extensive knowledge of the game and a passion for the sport. It's easy to tell that they would enjoy chatting about baseball even if they weren't recording. They have a humorous way of speaking that makes jokes feel like general conversation. Jeff and Mark keep the show lighthearted and buoyant. They don't offer heavy team critiques or harsh judgments of players. If they ever make fun of a player, it is kind. For example, the show likened the name of player Lars Nootbaar to a candy bar.

Two Strike Noise - A Baseball History Podcast offers a chance to learn something new, even for longtime baseball fans. For those new to the sport, it's a refreshing way to introduce it. Non-sports fans may find it a great source of entertainment. New episodes of this baseball history podcast generally arrive weekly.

There’s a Hall of Fame debut for a speedy first baseman (checks notes, yup, speedy first baseman) and a rookie car giveaway. Author Tim Newby (The Original Louisville Slugger, The Life and Times of Forgotten Baseball Legend Pete Browning) joins the guys to talk about Pete Browning. Episode 252 - Bob Thurman, Negro League Star, Is In How Many Hall of Fames?
Jun 7 2024
Episode 252 - Bob Thurman, Negro League Star, Is In How Many Hall of Fames?
This week continue our irrelevant trip through the goofy history of major league baseball. Steve Stone's crystal ball from 1992 seems like it might be a little off regarding Sammy Sosa, we try to put together a GoFundMe for a new, err old, Babe Ruth jersey and find out who did we get on one of our Field of Dreams whiskey. Our main segment is all about a player from the Negro Leagues and eventually big leagues we had not heard about before, Bob Thurman. He played well, all over and with some huge names. Wax Pack Heroes comes down to stirrups. So needless to say, we were both very happy about that, one more than the other, but still happy none the less.  00:57 Steve Stone's Sammy Sosa Prediction 03:22 Babe Ruth's Historic Jersey Auction 06:16 Wonder Woman and Pop Culture Auctions 09:06 Bullpen Carts and Mascot Cameos 12:17 Field of Dreams Whiskey Review 20:20 Negro League Legend: Bob Thurman 34:01 Wax Packs Heroes Facebook -https://www.facebook.com/TwoStrikeNoise/ Instagram - @twostrikenoise Bluesky - @twostrikenoise.bsky.social Threads - @twostrikenoise Twitter - @twostrikenoise YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@twostrikenoise Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/twostrikenoise E-mail - twostrikenoise@gmail.com We pull ALOT of commons in Wax Pack Heroes. Episode 249 - Tales From the Dugout v38
As long as there’s baseball there’s going to new baseball history and this week we’ve got new Topps cards for, checks notes, hot dogs? We have a JJ Hardy landscaping update, a leftover 420 thought that could revolutionize jerseys (they can’t get any worse), we rag on John Fisher, again, plus we got some good debuts to discuss.  In our Tales segment Mark highlights a 5 tool prospect who left us too early, we get to the bottom of Rod Murphy’s 1990Upper Deck baseball card and we remember a minor league games (not involving Cal Ripken) that didn’t want to end and what one fan had to do to catch the end of it. Wax Pack Heroes includes a special pack sent to us by a listener which let us talk about some players we haven’t brought up before. Thanks top listener Andrew Harner!
