EPISODE 407: DISTURBING BEHAVIOR
Mar 31 2024
EPISODE 407: DISTURBING BEHAVIOR
Greetings! Weā€™ve got a couple more visits to the late 90ā€™s before getting into some current 2024 horror releases.  DISTURBING BEHAVIOR is the raw essence of 1998 distilled into pure, shameless, trash. Katie Holmes, horny/homicidal teens, an incoherent mind control premise, stock thematic elements about the dangers of conformity, and James Marsden looking like a full grown man in his early 30ā€™s portraying a high school student. Join us as we discuss this important milestone in cinematic history.  "It's a class system here at CB High, Stevie Boy. Check it out...Those three guys are Cradle Bay's answer to Manson, McVeigh and OJ. Music of choice: the hum of perfection, the buzz of ambition. Drug of choice: life, the pursuit of clean living at the expense of all who sniffle at the hem of their gowns. The you've got kids like me and UV here, those who like their metal heavy, their Marlboro's light. Music of choice...Harvester of Sorrow, Language of the Mad. Drug of choice: what have you got? That's it. Lesson over. Class dismembered. Welcome to Cradle Bay High, Stevie Boy. Welcome to my nightmare." It's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode 407! EPISODE 397: SPECIES
Nov 17 2023
EPISODE 397: SPECIES
The year is 1995. Kurt Cobain blew his head off last year, or someone blew his head off, at the very least. Singles from Smashing Pumpkinsā€™ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, The Offspringsā€™ Smash, and Radioheadā€™s The Bends are lighting up the radio. And Wonderwall, donā€™t forget Wonderwall. Secretly, and shamefully, you regularly check VH1 to see if the video for Collective Soulā€™s song, ā€œDecemberā€ is on. No one must ever know about this šŸŽ¶ Then, here comes Natasha Henstridge as a predatory alien searching for the perfect mate to begin populating her species on EarthšŸ¤° Forest Whitaker plays a man with clairvoyant abilities, which in this film apparently means he is gifted with the ability to point out obvious, readily observable things. Michael Madsen wears sunglasses the whole time and doesnā€™t know how to hold a gun. Then, thereā€™s Oscar-winner, Sir Ben fucking Kingsley approaching the material like itā€™s Shakespeare. Join us as we revisit SPECIES, a very special relic of 1995 šŸ§¬  If you enjoy the show, consider joining our Patreon. EPISODE 396: COMMUNION

EPISODE 396: COMMUNION
Thereā€™s been a whole lot of talk about aliens lately. Some of it potentially historic, some of it hilarious. This episode we take a deep dive into the film adaptation of Whitley Streiberā€™s best-selling book based upon his own alleged experiences with extraterrestrials, 1989ā€™s COMMUNION šŸ‘½  Grey aliens, sleep paralysis, abduction, bad late 80ā€™s fashion, alien dance parties, little blue people, doppelgƤngers, anal probes, and a lead performance from Christopher Walken at peak absurdity make this a strong contender for one of the strangest Hollywood productions ever made. ā€œItā€™s a puzzle box. And you're not going to get to see what's inside. Let's just get that clear. I am you. And you are me. And we are here. I am the dreamer and you are the dream.ā€œ Itā€™s the Who Goes There Podcast Episode 396!   If you enjoy the show, consider joining our Patreon. EPISODE 390: THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE

EPISODE 390: THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE
Haomies! This episode we return to 1997 when Al Pacino ("greeeeeeeat ass!!!") played himself playing the devil and Keanu Reeves terrified us with his attempt at a Southern Accent. It's The Who Goes There Podcast, Episode 390: The Devil's Advocate. Review starts right around the 30-minute mark, after Jorge and Rhett briefly discuss some Billy Joel deep cuts. "Who are you carrying all those bricks for anyway? God? Is that it? God? Why I'll tell you...let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He's a prankster. Think about it. He gives man... instincts. He gives you this extraordinary gift, and then what does he do? I swear, for his own amusement...his own private, cosmic, gag reel; he sets the rules in opposition. It's the goof of all time. Look, but don't touch. Taste, but don't swallow. And while you're jumping from one foot to the next, what is he doing? He's laughing his sick, fucking ass off! He's a tightass! He's a sadist! He's an absentee landlord! Worship that?! Never!" EPISODE 388: BLACK MIRROR, Season 6
Aug 20 2023
EPISODE 388: BLACK MIRROR, Season 6
Awww shit, here we go again. This episode we review all five episodes of Black Mirror, Season 6. While Season 4 had it's high points, most notably an episode entitled USS Callister starring Meth Damon (Jessie Plemons), I think most will agree Season 5 was easily the worst of the series. So, we had high hopes that series creator Charlie Brooker had taken his time and bounced back with a new season to bring us more of the existential dread and dark, dizzying forays into the implications of technology and consciousness we've come to expect from the series since it debuted back in 2011. Is this the case? Listen to the episode and find out!  ā€œSo, what happens when we die? We drop into Limbo. Are you serious? Limbo? Unconstructed dream space. Well, what the hell is down there? Just raw, infinite subconscious. Nothing is down there!" Itā€™s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 388! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers.
