In episode 21, Ian and Frankie interview Deborah Simpier, CEO and co-founder of Althea, a company using blockchain and decentralised technologies to increase affordable internet access worldwide.
In part 2, Deborah shares more about the innovative connectivity platform that Althea has developed. Althea is a decentralised network that aims to provide affordable and reliable internet connectivity to underserved communities. The platform utilises blockchain technology and a mesh protocol called Babel to create a transparent and flexible network. Althea's model allows users to select their preferred price and latency and the network navigates through the available routes based on these preferences. The platform also incorporates smart contracts for instant settlement of payments. Althea is open-source and operates as a decentralised and permissionless network, with no single entity owning or controlling it. The platform has the potential to revolutionise the telecommunications industry and empower communities to take control of their connectivity.
This is part 2 of a 2-part episode. Tune in to part 2 to hear more about Deborah's background and how her upbringing in a technology-focused family influenced her interest in technology and communication.
