Shining a Light on The Joy of Learning with Dandan Liu
Dandan Liu is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker and established course creator in her own entrepreneurial pathway. She's worked on Netflix shows like Chef's Kitchen and is currently living in Austria. I first learned about Dandan from taking her Skillshare course on lighting in filmmaking and learning about the best way to work together. I'm excited to share this new episode where we go into our work together of late and her new online course Unravel, which helps people in the film sector find their voice. We talk about the joy of letting go, finding your inner creativity, dealing with setbacks, focus, and so much more. This is an awesome hour packed extended episode full of useful knowledge on lighting and filmmaking as well. Let's go in with this incredible insight into life! Festivals in a Pandemic with Gabriel Mattacchione

Festivals in a Pandemic with Gabriel Mattacchione
From the very beginning, Ever After Music Fest (EAMF) in Kitchener, Ontario has been a landmark event for bass heads from around the world. It combines top headliners, underground artists, and upcoming talent in a unique setting with a stellar sound system to deliver quality year after year. What's super cool about Ever After Music Festival is that it is an event that is run by a family-owned company primarily getting its revenue from ticket sales. Unfortunately, the 3-day festival was canceled last year due to COVID-19. I caught up with Gabriel Mattacchione at the end of September last year that is part of a larger story piece I am making in collaboration with Radio Western on the impact of the pandemic on the music industry. Stay tuned for that! My conversation here with Gabriel is a raw and real interview where we go into the festival's origins, how they've carved out a niche, and strategies for handling this crisis of a pandemic. Even from having worked in the entertainment sector for years, I still found this a really interesting conversation and I learned a lot, giving me more respect for Gabriel and his team to run such a big event. So I hope you enjoy it.Connect with Gabriel and EAMFEver After's Website https://www.everafterfest.com/Ever After on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/EverAfterMusicFest/Ever After on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/everafterfestEver After on Twitter https://twitter.com/everafterfestDon't miss a single episode:Subscribe on SpotifySubscribe on Apple PodcastsLike what you heard?Help us get the word out by leaving a rating and review on Apple Podcasts.Connect with Alex Leonard, Founder of AL MediaAL Media on FacebookAlex Leonard on InstagramAlex Leonard on LinkedInAlex Leonard on YouTubeThe Creative Kind on InstagramAlex Leonard on TwitterMentioned in this episode:Intro Ad for PLT CanadaVisit www.alexleonardmedia.com to learn more.
Establishing a Loyal Music Scene with Jason Carpenter

Establishing a Loyal Music Scene with Jason Carpenter
The latest podcast interview is with a founder of N.E.C. Productions, Jason Carpenter, a successful entrepreneur in London, Ontario that has helped the electronic scene grow and flourish in my hometown. Jason is an experienced business owner with a demonstrated history of working in the events services industry. He's skilled in advertising, sales, accounting, promotional marketing, and party planning. I was lucky to have the pleasure of sitting down with Jason to learn about how he's been able to create one of Canada's thriving music scenes, supporting countless DJs over the past 20 years by helping them launch successful careers.N.E.C. Productions is one of Southwestern Ontario's first event planning and marketing team specializing in electronic music. Keeping it dirty since 2001, with a full roster of talented local artists ready to shine. Whether it's a festival, a club night, or a dark basement, the party is our playground. N.E.C. Productions help in supporting the community, the artists, and the music.Jason and I dig deep into the history of N.E.C. Productions, differences between the rave scene over when he started compared to the last 5 years, as well as the importance of building a loyal local following. With COVID-19 putting a full stop of live events, the ever entrepreneur, Jason has pivoted, of course, and now organizes live streams on Twitch every weekend to help keep the music going and giving a platform for DJs to share their new music and fresh sets.I had a lot of fun catching up with Jason on the show and look forward to sharing this podcast with you! If you dig the episode, don't forget to leave a review on Apple or follow the podcast wherever you listen to your podcasts. Connect with Jason at N.E.C.
