Mindfulness meditation is becoming very popular now. However, just being mindful does not allow you to know the Knower or live in the state of highest consciousness called the fourth state. You can live more comfortably in the waking state by being mindful of your thoughts and emotions but at some point to be free from it you need to transcend the waking state and enter the fourth state. To meditate on the fourth state the attention goes from watching or being mindful of the thoughts and experiencing to being mindful or aware of you the Knower of the mind. This is Knowingness Meditation or meditation on the fourth state whereby you are living in the peace and joy that is forever shining.
