There is a movement across the U.S. to defund law enforcement agencies. Additionally, with Covid 19 crisis many prisons and jails are letting prisoners out early. On this week’s show we will look at the impact of decreasing investigation and policing budgets will have on crimes of sexual exploitation. Sex Trafficking crimes are complex and often multi- jurisdictional. These crimes often take months even years to break especially if the crime involves large scale sex trafficking rings Victim’s are moved from community to community and many city police agencies will participate in locating and rescuing a victim and then prosecuting the perpetrator. For many sex offenders who were sent to prison, there are one or more witnesses who risk everything to ensure the pimp or predator is incarcerated so they cannot harm another person again.
