Host Bonnie D. Graham welcomes Elio Trolio, Senior Manager of Value Engineering at Plex Systems.
Regarding Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Elio notes that is unclear to manufacturing leaders “what technology levers they can pull to begin driving improvements.” He also observes that real-time reporting on daily operational activities – to drive planning for each shift/day/week of production – is a key value case that auto manufacturing leaders should consider as a starting point on their transformation to Industry 4.0.
Discussing supply chain planning challenges, he observes, “Chip shortages aside, the problem still exists with current tools and methods used in the automotive industry that prohibit long-range planning accuracy and drive greater noise and wastes across the automotive supplier network. There are still ways to drive improvements even in these unprecedented times.”
