Richard “Bacon” Holdaway Childhood was tough, but my mother was my rock. She remarried when I was 12 to a man who I call Pops. He adopted me and my two sisters. I served a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Minnesota from 1998-2000. Within a year of coming home, I buried both to my best friends and nearly lost my own life. One friend Ryan died of Cancer and the other friend Tyler died in the same accident that almost took my life. I broke my back and my neck and much more. I died for 7 minutes in that accident. Life hasn’t been easy, but that’s just the way it is. Faith & Hope are what keep me going. Recently, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that can actually shorten a life, but I refuse to let that be my Swan Song. I will beat this just like I’ve beat every other obstacle in my life.
