With gratitude and curiosity as her guides she'll be talking with her guests about how we keep our hearts big and open in the world. This is about more than body size. It's about our heart size too. It's about staying true to ourselves by keeping our hearts open to all the new adventures and experiences life brings us. 💖For the past sixteen years Erin has lived in six different countries. Welcome to Korea 🇰🇷

Welcome to Korea 🇰🇷
Plus-Sized Hearts starts its journey with a very special guest from Korea. Vivian Geeyang Kim is a true trailblazer in Korea’s plus-size scene. After attempting to go see a showing of Jeanie Finlay’s empowering documentary Your Fat Friend at the DMZ Doc Fest in Seoul I saw that Vivian was on the speakers panel after the showing.   After a couple of DMs and emails, Vivian and I ended up having dinner at a great burger place in a cool part of Seoul and the rest is history. Every time we meet, I learn something from her about staying true to yourself. She is unapologetic when it comes to making sure people (mostly women) in Korea feel seen and heard no matter what their body size. For the past 15 years Vivian has been chipping away at the Korean culture’s tendency to completely turn away from people with larger bodies. She’s been steadfast in her commitment to bring about awareness that people with larger bodies are people with hearts, feelings and have the right to do as they chose living in the society of Korea, and most importantly they have a right to live without feeling like they don’t belong. Try not to tear up at the end when she shares what she does to keep her heart plus-sized. Vivian put her money where her heart is and started her own design house called im66100 and she shares what the name means in this episode. She’s also been photographed in major fashion magazines such as Vogue and Elle. She appears regularly on TV talking about being plus-size in Korea.  This first episode of Plus-Size Hearts is one you don’t want to miss! Here's where you can learn more about Vivian and her ongoing projects: Instagram: @plusmodelThreads: @plusmodelDesign house: www.im66100.comVivian’s website: plusmodelkorea.comYoutube: @kimgeeyang You can learn more about me 🙋‍♀️ the host of Plus-Sized Hearts on my website, Instagram and TikTok. Welcome to Los Angeles 🇺🇸

Welcome to Los Angeles 🇺🇸
Robin Abcarian with The Los Angeles Times  When Robin asked to interview me about my book for her Op-Ed last fall, I was of course thrilled! To be an indie author launching your first book and have interest from a journalist of Robin’s caliber falls into the "dream come true" category of life. Robin and I talked about all the things! We start out with her history writing about the fashion industry including watching some Fendi bag bandits at a PFW, comparing our different times and experiences in France, her journey to what she writes now which are articles that pack a necessary punch to make us think and hopefully compel us to action, what it means to role model empowering body talk for younger girls and how she views her profession as a journalist as one that can offer others generosity and grace. Finally, how she keeps her own heart plus-sized being a journalist is shared with such sincerity. Listen to the end. It'll expand your heart! 💖I know I pronounced Op-Ed wrong. 🤦🏼‍♀️ My apologies to all the journalists listening. I'm always learning! 🙋‍♀️Here is Robin’s incredible bio: Robin Abcarian is an award-winning columnist at the Los Angeles Times. Twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, she writes about politics and culture for the opinion pages. Before taking this assignment in September 2020, she was the paper’s roving California columnist for several years. Checking into far flung corners of the state, she reported columns about all aspects of life in the Golden State. She has also written frequently about sexual harassment, abortion rights and the #MeToo movement. In 2016, she wrote extensively about cannabis, which California voters approved for recreational use that year.In 2017, her column about a Santa Rosa couple who survived a terrible wildfire by taking refuge in their neighbor’s swimming pool was one of the Internet’s most read stories.Robin covered the 2004, 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns full time, and wrote occasionally about the 2016 campaign. As a culture writer for the paper’s Calendar section, she has covered the Oscars, the Emmys and the Sundance Film Festival. For most of the 1990s, she was a columnist for The Times’ feature section, before becoming the section’s editor in 2003. She has also been a radio talk show host and a frequent guest on radio and television news programs. After receiving a double bachelor’s degree in English and French from UC Berkeley, she earned a Master’s degree in journalism at Boston University. She began her career as a news intern at United Press International in downtown Los Angeles, before moving to the Ventura Star, the Santa Monica Outlook, the Los Angeles Daily News and the Detroit Free Press. She worked as a beat reporter, a feature writer, fashion editor and columnist.During her stint as fashion editor at the Free Press, she covered the fall and spring shows in New York, Paris, London and Milan. In 1997, while working as a columnist at the LA Times, she was hired to co-host the nation’s first all-female morning drive commercial radio talk show in Los Angeles. The station, KTZN, lasted less than two years before being kicked off the dial to make way for Radio Disney for Kids.Robin lives in Venice Beach with her 14-year-old niece and three-year old Golden Retriever. You can learn more about me 🙋‍♀️ the host of Plus-Size Hearts on my website, Instagram and TikTok. Welcome to France 🇫🇷

Welcome to France 🇫🇷
I first met Anne-Fleur Andrle when she reached out to do a podcast with me about my book Plus-Size in Paris. She wanted me to speak French on her podcast and I had to sadly say, "Désolée, non, merci my French isn't good enough." She then asked to interview me for the most amazing article about my book for frenchly.com, where she shared how the book impacted her to bravely open up in a very vulnerable way her story of living plus-size in France. I am so excited to share with you all our conversation! It's so interesting and moves along at such an energetic pace because we are connecting on so many levels. It's one of those conversations that resonates and stays with you. We talk about how the two of us are living lives that are on the same coin but different sides meaning my experience living in France as an expat and her experience of now living in the United States as an expat. The conversation delves into how our lives are similar and how they are different and how the similarities of our respective lives could be hard to understand if they aren't being lived in real time. Plus, you'll never think of the term "small talk" the same way again! 😉Anne-Fleur also graciously indulged me by defining my favorite French word dépaysement. I admit there are most likely many more beautiful words in French and given my French isn't great I'm probably limiting my scope here but I explain why it means so much to me during our chat. I love what it means for her in her life and gaining understanding of whether or not my interpretation of it that's been implanted into my heart is one that makes sense. You'll have to listen to find out. I loved our conversation! I hope you will too! Welcome to Ivory Coast 🇨🇮
Plus-SIzed Hearts is back! I took the week off last week as I was on a fabulous holiday in Vietnam with the family. Get your hearts in gear as we've got an amazing conversation for you this week! My guest Ruth Manou was my "in conversation" partner during my book launch event in Dublin, Ireland last summer. We start the conversation with some follow up from that book launch discussion as she helps me understand more fully a comment she made about there being a place on this planet where curvy, voluptuous bodies are considered a "snack." How fun is that? I've now told my husband to refer to me as snack from this day forward! 😉 We're all "snacks" regardless of our body types/sizes and Ruth helps us gain further understanding of that in this discussion. Ruth also bravely shares a deeply personal story of healing growing up between Paris and Ivory Coast. It's an expansive discussion that gets you right in the heart because Ruth is the real deal. I hope you enjoy it and take away from it the gems you need. I know I did. 🫶You can learn more about Ruth Manou on instagram @ruthmanou.coaching and @ruthmanou.lesjongleuses or on her website ruthmanou.com. What She Sees (a story investigating body image) is a treasure of a book! 💖It's a sweet and sincere board book that speaks to all of us at any age about how we see ourselves when we look in the mirror and what the mirror says back to us. It's deeply profound in its simplicity and a must have for all of our bookshelves to read to ourselves and most importantly our children. I am honored to share my conversation with Annie Kate Peterson the author of What She Sees about her own journey bringing this absolute gift of a book to the world and how it expanded her own heart, forcing her to face truths about herself that she met with self-compassion and love. This is an episode that has a lot of heart.
