Episode 113: Look Beyond the Smile and Learn to Feel Your Brother's Pain with Craig Brown
God never wastes our pain, says our guest on today's episode.Craig Brown grew up masking deep inner pain. Always pressured to put on a face of "the perfect family," Craig lacked an outlet to express the pains and insecurities that all children experience. The turn to drugs in 1980's Washington D.C. was not a surprising one in hindsight. After breaking free of his shame, addiction, and hyper focus on self, Craig focuses on helping Christians look beyond the superficial smiles they see at Sunday services. To be more aware of the struggles that we all face, and how to go beyond a 12-step sobriety program, but to seek spiritual renewal. In this interview with Craig, you'll hear:-Craig operated in a pit of darkness before confronting his fears...04:15-You'll never change until your pain is greater than your fear of changing...09:10-Your entire life structure is focused on self when battling addiction...14:15-Go to church to heal, not to hide...17:15-How to become more aware of the struggles behind the smiles you see every Sunday at church...19:30-We need to have the courage to be a safe space for those dealing with mental health issues...23:50-Recognize darkness and depression in those among you, and take the action they need...27:00-And much more...Resources mentioned:Stop Hiding, Start Healingcraigdbrown.comCall to action:To learn more about Wendie and her Visibly Fit program, visit wendiepett.comTo find out more about Todd and his coaching program for men, find him on the web at toddisberner.com.All the links you need to subscribe to the podcast are at both our websites! Episode 112: An Insider's Look at the Spiritual Revival Occurring in a Longtime Islamic Stronghold with Dr. Hormoz Shariat
Our guest on today's episode has been called the "Billy Graham of Iran" by Joel Rosenberg. Dr. Hormoz Shariat grew up in a Muslim household in Iran, and found himself wondering "what does all this mean?" They recited the prayers day after day, yet there was no inward stirring. Hormoz got a bitter taste of what the Islamic religion is capable of by a government that embraces it as its official religion when his brother was murdered by the regime two years after being jailed for what would be regarded as a misdemeanor crime in America.Rather than despising his brother's murderers, Hormoz used the power of his faith in Jesus to minister to his fellow Iranians through live broadcasts on the state-sponsored television stations. This interview will inspire you to take action in the face of overwhelming evil - and to acknowledge the true source of evil in this world, showing mercy toward those who are misled into doing Satan's deeds. We invite you to scroll down a bit and see how you can get a copy of Hormoz' book Iran's Great Awakening, and receive text updates on what is going on with the Iran Alive ministries! In this interview with Hormoz, you'll learn:-Family life in Iran, and finding Jesus in an Islamic culture...06:10-The moment Hormoz found Jesus through "researching" Jesus...08:30-A janitor at Hormoz' wife's work leads both of them to Jesus, and saves their marriage...13:30-So many Muslims are indifferent to religion in general - but is a vibrant spiritual life...15:21-Hormoz answers the call to minister to Muslims...18:45-Why Hormoz loves Muslims, in spite of atrocities committed by the Islamic government of Iran...21:10-The "logical" reason Muslims are so resistant to Christianity...25:45-Incredible conversion stories and miracles witnessed in person by Dr. Hormoz...31:30-How Iran Alive is utilizing artificial intelligence as a ministry tool...42:16-How you can pray for Iran and Iran Alive Ministries...45:45-And much more...Resources mentioned:Iran Alive MinistriesText the word "Iran" to 85789 to opt-in to text updates from Iran AliveIran's Great Awakening, by Dr. Hormoz Shariat (Get a copy for free when you make a contribution to Iran Alive)About our guest:Dr. Hormoz Shariat is the founder of Iran Alive Ministries, which utilizes satellite TV to broadcast Christian programming to a potential audience of 130 million in Iran and the Middle East. Dr. Shariat has been called “the Billy Graham of Iran,” by best-selling American Israeli author, Joel Rosenberg.Iran Alive uses modern technology to share the Gospel, train believers and fuel a discipleship-making movement. Dr. Shariat’s ministry broadcasts life-giving messages 24/7 to some of the darkest regions of the world, spreading the gospel of Christ to oppressed Islamic-run Iran. Where it is illegal to gather for a Christian church service, the 24/7 broadcast steps in, connecting and discipling the underground Church. Dr. Shariat has an audience of an estimated 6 million daily viewers (and 20 million weekly viewers) of his satellite program in Iran. With call centers, their 4:12 training school, college discipleship, Bible smuggling, and more — the ministry supports the movement of God in Iran. Iran’s population is about 84 million people and only about 2 million people identify as Christians. The church in Iran is one of the most persecuted in the world due to severe governmental restrictions on practicing Christianity. No church gatherings are permitted in...

Episode 107: A Clarion Call to "Get Your Brave On" When Life Kicks You In the Teeth. Amanda Carroll
Divorce. It's the last thing any married person wants to hear or consider. Yet, it's sometimes inevitable. The other party sometimes just loses interest in the other person, loses sight of the vision they once had for their marriage. What are you to do? Amanda Carroll's former husband told her one night he was leaving her and their three children. Her response? "We're out of milk." Survival mode kicked into high gear; her first and only thought was the welfare of her children - and they were out of milk. Suddenly the unthinkable was reality: starting over with the shame of divorce hanging over her head, all the while finding success in one of the top media markets in the U.S.But rather than being judged and shamed by her superiors, she found grace and willingness to help. Amanda reframed her thinking. Rather than being "that woman" who is salvaging an identity from a failed marriage, she was given the opportunity to start fresh with her life - right when most of her peers are in the middle of theirs, sometimes in their own unhappy marriages. We hope that in listening to our conversation with Amanda Carroll, you'll come away encouraged and energized, ready to "Brave Life" and kick those sorrows in the teeth! In this episode, you'll learn:-Amanda's early faith journey and getting involved in faith-based media...06:00-The providential leap to prominence in the #4 media market in the U.S...11:00-"We're out of milk": survival mode in the midst of personal crisis...14:45-Grace, not judgment, is shown at the darkest hour...19:12-Reorienting during an unexpected "pit stop" in life...22:30-"This is God." Episode 106: The Journey to Glory Isn't Without Its Pitfalls and Roadblocks with Richard Ronsisvalle
"Serve God," they said. "It will be fun!" they said. "Your life will be infinitely better," they said. While we don't really know who "they" are, we do know that serving God is sometimes touted as a blissful experience, that once you do so you'll never experience pain or heartache. The reality could not be further from that. Sometimes we put our faith in God, only to have a tragedy occur such as the loss of a child. The mother of our guest, Richard Ronsisvalle, had that very thing happen, and nearly lost her fledgling faith as a result. But she resolved to strengthen her faith, and in turn led every last one of her 11 children to God.As a very young man, Richard heard the call to preach the gospel. This meant turning down many offers from some of the biggest studios in America who wanted to record his beautiful baritone voice so he could fulfill his calling.Service to God meant forsaking everything dear to attend 24/7 to his wife who had developed dementia and Alzheimer's. While finding a fine nursing home would have been convenient, and on the surface would have allowed Richard to perform his ministry, he chose the inconvenient (and far less lucrative) path of honoring the scriptural admonition for a man to love his wife, even as Christ loved the church. We hope you'll listen to today's episode and find courage to persevere through any challenge you're enduring and ultimately find true joy in obeying God over pursuing any personal or earthly ambition! In this episode, you'll learn:-How Richard's parents had a marriage arranged by their parents, and truly by God...05:30-A special child is born into the Ronsisvalle family, but sadly passes at age 3...12:15-How God used the tragedy of baby Jimmy to help Richard's mother find a breakthrough in faith...15:00-Never underestimate the power of the presence of God while at church in person with other believers...20:30-Why Richard turned down multiple recording contracts with some of the biggest platforms in America because of his calling to preach the gospel...24:00-Richard's current ministry is borne from a calling shared by a pastor friend....29:21-How Richard met his wife - while trying to set her up with his older brother...35:06-Unconditional love illustrated through Richard's care for his wife while she was seriously ill...40:25-A call to men to love our wives and walk in obedience, even when it appears God has abandoned us....47:30-A prayer for our listeners to be strengthened in the Spirit...53:00Resources mentioned:Reality 21Guest's bio and social handles:FacebookRichard Ronsisvalle was born in Washington, DC and now resides in Central Florida. Episode 104: Why "Common Sense" Is Sometimes the Best Way to Make Sense of God's Calling for Our Lives
We're thrilled to welcome to the show Aaron Jennings. Aaron began his walk with God thirsty and on fire to reach as many people as possible with the Gospel. Even if it meant going to motocross races on Sundays rather than going to church as a teen!"I'm called to reach motocross people. Motocross people are not in church on Sunday. I must be in the right place."Makes perfect sense when you put it that way. It's just one example of how "common sense" has guided Aaron's thinking throughout his life. Like all of us, circumstances have tested Aaron's resolve to serve God. Yet by relying on the Written Word of the Scriptures, Aaron has become the leader in both family and business God has called him to be. (And yes, that common sense thinking that served him so well as a boy has led to amazing ministry ideas and implementation we're sure you'll want to hear, so be sure to stick around til the very end to listen in!)In this episode, you'll learn:-How a relentless pursuit of God led Aaron through a unique personal and career path...03:05-Why a common sense led Aaron to pursuing a unique ministry as a teenager...08:15-Success stories sharing Jesus with fellow motocross racers...14:08-How motocross directly contributed to Aaron's success on the police force...21:00-Injustice on the job, and an emotionally distant spouse leads Aaron to second-guess his commitment to God...27:15-Hitting rock bottom, Aaron rekindles his one-time passion for ministering for God...33:40-How owning the mandate to lead his family spiritually led to a spiritual breakthrough for both Aaron and his new spouse...38:12-How embracing the missionary's mindset led to Aaron teaching sound business practices to the poorest of the poor...47:00-How Aaron is applying modern business strategies to missionary work...55:12-And much more...Resources mentioned:Fast ScalabilityGuest's bio and social handles:FacebookYouTubeFrom Police Officer to full-time missionary turned systems and strategy coach, Aaron Jennings is on a mission to help Kingdom Entrepreneurs use systems and automation to scale and take ground for the Kingdom. As Jim lay at death's door, Jim's mother prayed for the soul of her son. God answered her prayer and Jim's life was claimed, redeemed, and transformed for Jesus Christ. In particular, Jim has been burdened to pray, and to lead others in intercessory prayer, for pastors, their families and churches. The highlight of Acts413 Ministries is city wide prayer gatherings held throughout the United States. They serve as a catalyst to mobilize the body of Christ to intercede for our pastors and their families. Christians from every denomination, socioeconomic background, culture, and color to worship and pray through scripture in the name of Jesus Christ. While the prayers may cover many topics, there is always a special focus on interceding for pastors, their families, and churches.
