Episode 68 Love God Love People - Rick Wappel
Rick Wappel would be in my book, if I wrote one, called the most interesting people I have ever met. Truly a believer that most of us would want to be. A prayer giant, and loves people like no one I have ever met. Today we will take a peak into this man’s life. He is part of our mission partner, called rescued not arrested,  Arizona ministry that provides hundreds of church services, one on one mentoring, mail mentoring and baptisms each month. RNA has distributed over 750,000 English and Spanish NIV Bibles to hundreds of Chaplains and missionaries internationally reaching millions incarcerated. The word is spreading fast and more demand for free Bibles with free shipping is being requested weekly from prison chaplains and missionaries. Praise God!!!  Rescued Not Arrested is operated by 100% volunteers, another miracle!! dozens of volunteers including me serve full time for free. All donations are used for the mission cause and majority of the funds are used to provide the Bibles. Zondervan publishers has partnered with RNA providing all our Bible needs at a very reasonable rate. In addition, RNA partnered with DES-Governor Ducey’s 2nd chance program to help inmates integrate into society successfully by providing them employment, housing, and accountability resources before they are released.LINKS:Website: https://www.rescuednotarrested.orgChrist’s Church of the Valley: https://ccv.churchCCV Missions: https://ccv.church/ministries/missionsLet’s Go 360: https://www.letsgo360.orgPastor Larrie Fraley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrie-fraley-53445032
Episode 67 Medical Missions and Spiritual Transformation - Larry Burek

Episode 67 Medical Missions and Spiritual Transformation - Larry Burek
With me today is Larry Burek. Larry resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, with his wife, Becky, of almost thirty years. His son and daughter-in-law currently serve at a church in Orange County, California.Larry and I have become very good friends over the last 2 or 3 years. Today, we'll discuss medical missions at CCV and what is happening in that ministry within CCV. How is God moving in our church?Larry was fortunate to be raised not just in a home focused on Christ but also one where missionaries were common guests at the Monday morning breakfast table as they traveled from church to church, raising support. In the middle of a pre-dental program at the University of Michigan, Larry felt led to partner with a missionary dentist in the Central African Republic to affirm his vocational calling and discover Jesus anew. After returning to the US the following year, he transferred to and graduated from Grace College. During that period, his sister unexpectedly died while studying to become a medical missionary. Following a short break, he completed his M.Div at Talbot Theological Seminary and started serving in local churches and para-church organizations in Southern California.Believing that God was calling him in an entirely different direction, Larry furthered his education at Pepperdine University School of Law before embarking on a 34+ year legal career throughout California, working for small and mid-size businesses and litigating complex cases. Even then, he worked with his local church, Baja Christian Ministries, and International Justice Missions, providing legal advice and guidance for ongoing projects in Rwanda. In addition, he served as the President and Chairman of the Board of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County, where he worked with critically ill children.Larry moved to the Phoenix area in 2017 while continuing to practice law in California. He quickly became involved with Christ’s Church of the Valley and its missions department, which, in turn, led to multiple mission trips and his involvement with Rocky Point Medical Clinic, The Neighborhood Christian Clinic, Missions of Hope International, and Liberte Live. The combination of his passion for medical missions and the organizational and leadership skills he acquired as a lawyer prepared him to lead CCV’s medical-dental-vision-mental health mission outreaches here, near, and far.LINKS:Christ’s Church of the Valley: https://ccv.churchCCV Missions: https://ccv.church/ministries/missionsLet’s Go 360: https://www.letsgo360.orgPastor Larrie Fraley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrie-fraley-53445032Email: LarryBurek@ccv.churchHeidiFigg@ccv.church

Episode 64 The world needs courageous non-profits - Jonathan Roe
In Joshua 1:9, the LORD calls you to be courageous – not because you are a gifted leader, strategist, organizer, communicator, motivator or fighter – because the Lord will be with you wherever you go.Today I talk with a Jonathon Roe a long time good friend who helps faith based Non-profits fight back. Jonathan Roe has been a non-profit coach and trainer in AZ for more than a decade, and is the Founder and CEO of Venture 1:9.  Venture 1:9 (based on Joshua 1:9) guides non-profits to a place of courage, health, sustainability and impact, through free training, coaching and granting. After graduating college in Boston, Jonathan spent 17 years in church leadership, pastoring two local churches near Washington, D.C. and Columbus, Ohio. In early 2008, he moved to Phoenix to launch and lead Mission Increase AZ (MI AZ), a ministry to strengthen Christian non-profit organizations. Episode 63 Happiness can be bought. Just not with money - John Moore
Today I talk with my good friend John Moore. He loves generosity as much as our sr. pastor and has committed his life to the principles he has learned from scripture. We will find out a little about his life. John founded John Moore Associates (JMA) in 1997 with a passion to both serve his community and help his community serve others through the causes that matter to them. His diligent stewardship is in part refined by his military experience, which instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and strategic thinking. John handed off the leadership of JMA to Brian Cochran in 2022 but continues to lend his wisdom to the JMA team as a consultant. An avid flyer since the age of 16, John has enjoyed flying both airplanes and gliders and spending time with his wife of over 40 years, Connie.John believes that the best financial meetings have nothing to do with money. He knows that our most valuable asset is people. John would say that these are his values and the values of the company he founded.RelationshipsOur community is our most valuable asset. We put others before ourselves and are committed to collaboration, loyalty, and trust-building with all clients, vendors and coworkers, knowing that together we can help create more fulfilling futures.WisdomOur expertise is only as deep as the wisdom we seek. We continually pursue a greater knowledge of our trade, our clients, and the world, combined with timeless and transcendent principles of the bible, so that we may provide fruitful counsel.ServiceWe bring a servant’s heart to all we do, with caring, attentive, proactive, and responsive service to our clients and colleagues. We consistently find real solutions to clients’ challenges to optimize stewardship.GenerosityWe believe that sharing God’s resources and encouraging a life of giving will have a deep and lasting impact on families, our communities, and our own joy.LINKS:Website: www.johnmoore.comBooks: https://www.johnmoore.com/books/Christ’s Church of the Valley: https://ccv.churchCCV Missions: https://ccv.church/ministries/missionsLet’s Go 360: https://www.letsgo360.orgPastor Larrie Fraley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrie-fraley-53445032Email: missions@ccv.church

Episode 58 Taking Good News to the Streets in Italy - Julia Hernandez

Episode 58 Taking Good News to the Streets in Italy - Julia Hernandez
Today Julia Hernandez shares with us her preparation to lead a trip of 8 CCV goers as they head to Ancona, Italy to talk with people there about Jesus Christ. We will explore Zume Discipleship training (found in our shownotes).Matthew 28:18-20 - "Jesus came and spoke to the eleven disciples, saying: 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.' The act of teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you through Christ with others in public settings using Wisdom and considering all culturally, socially, and legally permissible techniques is known as biblical street evangelism. Our personal opinions are irrelevant, and as Christians, we must always be prepared to accept the Truth, even when it contradicts everything we have been taught and believed to be true up until the moment the Truth arrives to upend all previous false beliefs. As Christians, we should embrace the Truth rather than be fearful of it! LINKSDonate to the trip:Go to https://ccv.church/ministries/missions/tripsClick on "DONATE TO A MISSION TRIP"SELECT A TRIP: Italy #839400ZUME Training: https://zume.training/ Christ’s Church of the Valley: https://ccv.churchCCV Missions: https://ccv.church/ministries/missionsLet’s Go 360: https://www.letsgo360.orgPastor Larrie Fraley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrie-fraley-53445032Email: missions@ccv.church
Episode 57 Defending the Flock, Creating a Safe Worship - Rich Wooten

Episode 57 Defending the Flock, Creating a Safe Worship - Rich Wooten
Acts 20:28-30 NIV Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.Today we will be talking with Rich Wooten, Director Safety and Security Director Safety and Security at CCV. Rich has been with CCV for 6 years. Prior to that Rich was the Security Manager Security Manager for the National Football League in New York, New York, Rich also retired from as a Police Detective for City of Phoenix after 26 years. The vast majority of churches won't experience a terrorist or shooter attack, but other situations are more frequent, and church leaders need to have a security plan and staff in place to protect their flock. Alarm systems, security personnel, and video surveillance are simply a few components of the solution. If CCV or any church doesn't feel safe and secure, they can forget the purpose of your church and the message of God. Every church needs a security strategy that outlines what the staff, church leaders, security personnel, and our attendees should do in case of emergency.LinksChrist’s Church of the Valley: https://ccv.churchCCV Missions: https://ccv.church/ministries/missionsLet’s Go 360: https://www.letsgo360.orgPastor Larrie Fraley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrie-fraley-53445032Email: missions@ccv.churchDefending the Flock: A Security Guide for Church Safety Directors: https://a.co/d/45r4eSR
Episode 56 Museum of the Bible - Mark Benson

Episode 56 Museum of the Bible - Mark Benson
Today's episode is with Mark Benson, the West Regional Director of  Partner Relations for the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC. Now, Mark actually living here in phoenix  and attends CCV.  I met mark a few year ago and over the years we have become good friends.  The Museum of the Bible is located in Washington, D.C., and houses artifacts and manuscripts related to the Bible. David Green’s connection to the Museum of the Bible comes into play through Hobby Lobby funding the museum.  Check out:  https://www.museumofthebible.org/ He no stranger to the church. Mark’s  father was a third-generation Lutheran minister, retiring at 86 years old. (He went home on January 1, 2022.) Mark did not feel the calling to be a minister, but as a capitalist, and Mark’s ministry has been to the people he served in business. Mark and his wife Mary owned or operated 16 new car dealerships around the country. They were also the managing partners for: Ford, Honda, Lincoln, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Jeep, Chrysler, Hyundai and Ram.  While the owners of Honolulu Ford, they boldly invested in the Church. The FCC approved an on-demand station at Cox-cable: JOHN 316. We filled our Christian station with 9 local churches, with 60,000 Hawaiian home tuning in each month. Much like Hobby Lobby, In-and-Out, Mark closed his dealerships on Sunday to honor the Sabbath. https://youtu.be/t7K6s6Cxfes and sales exploded. Now, Hawaii is his mission field, and the last year Mark owned a dealership.   Mark has worked for the Museum of the Bible for 2.5 years.  The pervious 5-8 years Mark would wake up at 2:00 AM and ask God, am I using my talents the way that you would like me to?  The Benson family has a passion for missions. He partnered with Rotary International to drill a well in Naberera, Tanzania. It did not turn out the way that he thought it would.  "We hit water 147 meters down, but the pastor there was afraid that his Massai Tribe would kill him and take the well over. He waited for 10 years to put the well head on and start pumping water. Mans timing is different than Gods!" Episode 50 Armed Conflict to Emotional Recovery - Carl Gaede
Our guest today is an amazing leader and disciple-maker.  Carl Gaede, leads Tutapona, a Christ-centered organization that facilitates emotional healing through mental health services for people impacted by war and conflict.Tutapona’s vision is to bring healing and hope in order to restore relationships, build peaceful communities and glorify Christ. In 2008, Carl and Julie Gaede, psychotherapists from Wisconsin, moved to Northern Uganda.  With a passion to help people affected by the emotional impact of war find emotional healing from their experiences, Tutapona - a Swahili word meaning, ‘We will be healed’ - was born. Uganda had suffered years of civil war and unrest at the hands of the Lord’s Resistance Army, leaving widows and orphans in its wake.  The physical and emotional scars ran deep, but Carl & Julie held hope that a community, once unified by pain, can become a community unified in healing through group-based mental health programming.  Today, Uganda is one of the top 3 refugee receiving nations in the world. Carl and Julie continue to work there in 4 locations around the country, to provide targeted, culturally relevant quality mental health support to some of the 1.4 million people registered as refugees.  You will hear his story today.LINKSWebsite: www.tutapona.comFacebook: www.facebook.com/TutaponaInstagram: www.instagram.com/tutaponaLinkedin: www.linkedin.com/company/tutapona-incChrist’s Church of the Valley: https://ccv.churchCCV Missions: https://ccv.church/ministries/missionsLet’s Go 360: https://www.letsgo360.orgPastor Larrie Fraley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrie-fraley-53445032Email: missions@ccv.church
Episode 49 - Outlaw Biker Outreach "The Last Disciples" - Lou Steel
Apr 5 2023
Episode 49 - Outlaw Biker Outreach "The Last Disciples" - Lou Steel
Lou Steel, who has a wonderful story about how God prepared him to reach people through a motorcycle ministry, will be our guest today. Lou Steel is a co-founder and member of the national board of the Last Disciples MC, a 501(c)(3) Christian organization whose challenging aim has been to spread the gospel to hardcore motorcycle clubs and anybody else who God places in their way in the United States and Australia. The Last Disciples is an MC that works with motorcyclists, gang members, street people, at-risk youth, those who have addictions that are ruling their lives, and people who have "fallen between the gaps" of traditional ministries. They genuinely serve those who the church fears. The biker's outlaw lifestyle is marked by extremes; he will spend the day working, but mainly just hanging out, and later seek solace in drinking, using drugs, partying, or riding. Outlaws are often fatalistic and many of them have no aspirations for a better life. The majority of their literature and art is focused on motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidsons and choppers, and they have a set of ideals that celebrate freedom, nonconformity to popular culture, and an extreme loyalty to their MC. Therefore you might want to reconsider facing them head-on if you were considering it. LINKSLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lou-steel-83756a35/Book: Last-Disciple-Lou-Steel Christ’s Church of the Valley: https://ccv.churchCCV Missions: https://ccv.church/ministries/missionsLet’s Go 360: https://www.letsgo360.orgPastor Larrie Fraley: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larrie-fraley-53445032Email: missions@ccv.church
