We honor those who have served the U.S Armed forces and their contribution for freedom.   At AU we are very proud to be home of a big Veteran Family, from the Directive Board to Faculty and many of our Alumni and active Students. To you all we say today, Thank you for your service, we honor your work and sacrifice for freedom, and today we extend our honors dedication to the labor you have done and to your families who along with you have sacrificed and supported your contribution to our country.     On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, World War I came to an end after four brutal years of fighting. One year later, America dedicated November 11th as Armistice Day to celebrate the peace and the veterans who fought to make the world a safer place.  So we pay our respects and offer our thanks to those who served in the United States military, defending freedom and dignified life for all.   In 1938 Congress established Armistice Day as a legal holiday to honor those who fought in the war to en all wars, however in the wake of world war II ad the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day in 1954 a holiday now that would honor veterans of all wars from the past, present and future. -  Episode Participants:  · Dr. Miya Burt-Stewart | DBA / MBA | U.S ARMY Veteran | Academic Dean  · Mr. Juan Cruz Torres | AU Vice-President & Director of Admissions | Marine Veteran   · Ken Kistner | Air Force Veteran | AU's Compliance Department  · Darling Martinez | AU Alumna & U.S. ARMY Veteran  · Ivan Suárez | AU Alumnus & U.S. ARMY Veteran  -  Episode Directed By: Anibal J. Atlantis University is honoring the US Veterans on November 11th at AU Park Campus.  1011 Sunnybrook Rd, Miami, FL, 33136 - Meet & Greet 12-12:30pm  12:30pm begin with event program  2pm Program ends  RSVP: communications@atlantisuniversity.edu  check ontheairtoday.com  for more information about Keith and WVET Online Radio  -  What November 11th stand for and what it means to our veterans:  An Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U. S. Code, Sec. 87a) approved May 13, 1938, made the 11th of November in each year a legal holiday—a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as "Armistice Day." Armistice Day was primarily a day set aside to honor veterans of World War I, but in 1954, after World War II had required the greatest mobilization of soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen in the Nation’s history; after American forces had fought aggression in Korea, the 83rd Congress, at the urging of the veteran’s service organizations, amended the Act of 1938 by striking out the word "Armistice" and inserting in its place the word "Veterans." With the approval of this legislation (Public Law 380) on June 1, 1954, November 11th became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.
