Day 178 The Dynamic Duo- Priscilla & Aquila by Holly Rigos
Bible Study & Devotional Day 178 📌 Read Today's Passages (June 27, 2022) 🔴 “The dynamic duo - Priscilla and Aquila.” Contributing Writer: Holly Rigos Paul arrived in Corinth, a refuge city for persecuted Jews traveling from Rome under the rule of Emperor Claudius. He expelled all Jews from Rome, and no doubt, Jews deemed it unsafe to remain in any part of Italy. In Acts 18:2-3, it says, 2“There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome.” 3“Paul went to see them, and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.” From the first three verses, we have learned that: Aquila is married to Priscilla They have a strong marriage since they traveled together into a strange land full of unknowns Obedient to God’s Word because they were being persecuted Workers since they were known as tentmakers Hospitable because they allowed Paul to stay with them Read More at www.ourgivenpurpose.com Join us each day as we read the One Year Bible together. Day 177 Is Ignorance Bliss? by Joshua Slaughter

Day 177 Is Ignorance Bliss? by Joshua Slaughter
Bible Study & Devotional Day 177 📌Read Today's Passages (June 26, 2022) Guiding Scripture: Acts 17:30-31 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead." 🔴 Is Ignorance Bliss? Contributing Writer: Joshua Slaughter Acts 17:30-31 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead." Ignorance is bliss, quite a common colloquialism these days. Funny how things don't change. So the question is, "Why Now?" Why do we feel  God pressing the matter of repenting? The world wants us to believe we are all-knowing and taking responsibility for our actions is unnecessary—finances- health-education-are areas offer many loopholes or mindsets that we can avoid committing to a plan. Day 176 Don't Leave Me, Lord by Broderick Slaughter
Bible Study & Devotional Day 176 📌Read Today's Passages (June 25, 2022) 🔴 Don’t Leave Me, Lord Contributing Writer: Broderick Slaughter Have you ever felt like God isn't there? When times seem rough and rugged, you may be at your lowest. That's how David felt; in Psalm 143:1-12, David, the young future. King was in distress; he felt distance from his Lord. His faith was leaving him; why were all these things happening to him, verses 4 and 5 say that He is losing hope; that he was paralyzed with fear, he has memories of the past and remembers all God has done, so why is this happening to him? God sometimes lets us get out of our way, we see things going wrong, but we want God to fix it when we want it fixed, not in His perfect timing. Day 175 The Wrong Focus by Torrie Slaughter
Bible Study & Devotional Day 175 Read Today’s Passages Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 17:24, 'A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool's eyes wander to the ends of the earth.' 🔴The Wrong Focus Written by: Torrie Slaughter Each time we read the Bible, something different should become visible. After all, it is the living Word. How we apply historical knowledge and wisely examine our behavior helps us reflect the light of Jesus. As you read today's passages, remember to keep God as your focus. No matter what your current circumstance, God is the Author of all life. We have many examples of detestable behavior. (2 King 6:28-29) But we also have significant instances of faith (Acts 16:15). I am guilty of not seeking the Lord to increase my vision and being led by the blind. I have sacrificed many things, in desperation, without carefully considering the consequences. I was choosing to preserve earthly life rather than be uncomfortable. Day 174 Pushing Through Fear by Sheila Arrington
Bible Study & Devotional Day 174 📌 Read Today's Passages (June 23, 2022) 🔴Pushing Through Fear Contributing Writer: Sheila Arrington God has not given you a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind. One of the hardest things you may go through in your life will be choosing faith over fear, persistence over defeat. That is indeed what the Shunammite woman faced. She decided to push through her fear and reached out to the one person she knew could give her what she wanted-her son, alive again. The Shunammite woman decided on a course of action, and she stuck to it, not even sharing with her husband. There are times in our life when we need to get to the right source and help for our situation. She never once lamented over her predicament, at least not out loud. To take hold of the reigns of faith and push her fear aside. We see her speaking what she wants to be true: it will be alright. Everything is fine. Day 173 Healing for the Broken-Hearted by Irvine Saint-Vilus
Bible Study & Devotional Day 173 📌Read Today's Passages 🔴 Healing for the Broken-Hearted Contributing Writer: Irvine Saint-Vilus Let's face it! People were adept at wearing masks long before COVID-19 was ever on the scene. The stark reality is that many people display smiles on the outside, but inside they are suffering from broken hearts. That emotional pain can be excruciating and unbearable since there is no known physical cure for it. When a person experiences a broken heart, their spirit is crushed, and their life's vitality is sapped out of them like dry bones. A friend once told me, "My heart is broken into a million pieces over my children because they don't contact me." Then, sometime later, I met with the same friend again, and things were different. Day 172 Are You Going to Tell It? by Kendra Dublin
Bible Study & Devotional Day 172 📌 Read Today’s Passages 🔴 Are You Going to Tell It? Contributing Writer: Kendra Dublin Satan is fully aware of how he plays people through deception every day. It is his job, and he stops at nothing to will his will into our lives. That is why we have a hard time accepting Jesus as Lord. Another law at work seems to work well until we realize who we are serving. Evangelism in this day is brought with opposition as it was in Paul and Barnabas’ days. Everybody has their belief system, and when you challenge that stance, it’s easy for Satan’s voice to become the voice of those who you seek to save. Many people were raised in the church but, because of life circumstances, left. Maybe they became Atheists, New Agers or believed that they are god; either way, they set Jesus to the side. And while Jesus was left in the dust, another god seeped into their hearts. How do you gain a person for Christ when they had an ear, but left for a new way? (Sounds like the breeding grounds from demonic oppression and possession.) Read More at www.ourgivenpurpose.com Join us each day as we read the One Year Bible together. Day 171 The 'Yes' People by Torrie Slaughter

Day 171 The 'Yes' People by Torrie Slaughter
Bible Study & Devotional Day 171 Read Today’s Passages Guiding Scripture:  1 Kings 22:7 'But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no longer a prophet of the Lord here whom we can inquire of?" 🔴The 'Yes' People Written by: Torrie Slaughter I'm sure many of us have desired the Lord to bless an idea. We think it is the best solution, and in our excitement, we persuade others to buy in. In today's reading, King Jehosophat tells King Ahab to consult Yahweh before going to war. King Ahab did inquire through 400 lords. The term used is Adonay which meant anyone with authority, whether human or divine, could give advice. 1 Kings 22:7 is my lesson, and God shot. Seeking wisdom from people of God should be done with discernment. Everyone who claims to follow the Lord Jesus Christ may not be faithful witnesses. Jehosophat knew the prophets King Ahab summoned were Baal worshipers, and he wanted an answer from the Most High God. Day 170 Loud & Wrong by Torrie Slaughter
Jun 19 2022
Day 170 Loud & Wrong by Torrie Slaughter
Bible Study & Devotional Day 170 Read Today’s Passages Guiding Scripture: Acts 13:8-10 'Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? But Elymas, the sorcerer (for that is what his name means), opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. ' 🔴Loud & Wrong Written by: Torrie Slaughter Elymas (or Bar-Jesus) wanted to turn people away from Christ and the Gospel. Paul as a leader and being filled with the Holy Spirit, stopped the weapon of deceit. I encourage you to meditate and study today's passages and ask God to help you identify the trickery happening in your midst. Remember, the Holy Spirit will go before you and give you the words to say. Our responsibility is to be faithfully open to His divine wisdom. There are times when we immediately recognize the loudness and how wrong things are. Yet, that doesn't stop the enemy from his manipulative ways. As Christ-followers, we are responsible for those He has entrusted to be in our ecosystem. The imitators should be unmistakable from their fruit; do they create harmony or promote division? It may be time to take a closer look at ourselves and then those who impact our lives. Read More at www.ourgivenpurpose.com Join us each day as we read the One Year Bible together. Evil is widely rewarded and celebrated while doing good and being righteous is despised and hated. In Proverbs, we're given countless warnings and the dangers of doing evil. In our focus scripture, we get a serious warning for those thinking about participating in sin and celebrating it. Day 167 Love For All by Tiffiany Langston
Bible Study & Devotional 167 📌 Read Today’s Passages (June 16, 2022) 🔴 Love For All Contributing Writer: Tiffiany Langston There is simply no denying that God loves all His creation. Throughout Genesis 1, as the world's creation is detailed, scripture says, "And God saw that it was good." Matthew 22:39 tells us, " The second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself. God's directive is for us to proclaim the gospel's message to the world around us and love others. Yet, we arrogantly conclude the worthiness of another or a group based on the opinions of the culture or our own self-righteousness. We are failing to be obedient to God's commands. Day 166 Disguises by Torrie Slaughter
Bible Study & Devotional Day 166 Read Today's Assigned Passages Guiding Scriptures: 1 Kings 14:5 'But the Lord had told Ahijah, "Jeroboam's wife is coming to ask you about her son, for he is ill, and you are to give her such and such an answer. When she arrives, she will pretend to be someone else." 🔴Disguises Written by: Torrie Slaughter Have you ever pretended to be someone else to gain information? Perhaps you've changed your voice over the phone or asked someone to hide your identity and work on your behalf. No matter the circumstance, most of us have disguised ourselves at some point. In November 2018, I shared a spoken word poem titled, 'I'm Just Saying' and the opening line, "My mask was so big, my disguise so elaborate I would be in these streets...Walmart, and my own mother didn't recognize me." Camouflage I suffered at the hand of guilt and shame for years, searching for answers to the dying things in my life. I hadn't realized I needed to repent of my sins. Failure to follow God's plan kept me from my purpose. But God! He profoundly got my attention because someone DID recognize me and asked, 'Who are you trying to be?' Day 161 Reflections Proverbs 16:31-33

Day 161 Reflections Proverbs 16:31-33
Bible Study & Devotional (Day 161) 📌 Read Today's Passages (June 10, 2022) 🔴 Reflections Proverbs 16:31-33 Contributing Writer: Temi Michael-O Proverbs 16:31 is an invitation for the younger generation to look into the future. Would you still be standing strong in faith when you are older? My prayer is that you will be found in the way of righteousness. If you are older, you have an invitation to consider your ways. When you are on God’s side, you are a crown of glory, bringing life, hope, wisdom, and God’s presence. Proverbs 16:32 is an invitation for us to be like God, who is slow to anger and rich in mercy. Psalm 145:8 (KJV) says, “The LORD is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” Being slow to anger requires patience and extension of grace to others. Our ability to do these things reflects how we are walking in the spirit and allowing God’s Spirit to lead us. Proverbs 16:33 is an invitation for us to consider God’s sovereignty or providence when we think about the outcome of events. Bible Study & Devotional (Day 160) 📌 Read Today's Passages (June 9, 2022) Guiding Scripture: Psalm 127:1-5 🔴 Life is Messy Contributing Writer: Robin Lambert Life sometimes hands you a mess. Life sometimes gives you flowers. The unpredictability of it all is what makes life exciting and heartbreaking all at the same time. But most importantly, it reminds you to remain entirely dependent on the Lord. Without God, you can do nothing. An an attitude of self-sufficiency will lead to your work feeling empty, frustrating, useless, and vain. Whether you are starting a family or a new job, or a new ministry, don’t do it while excluding God. Whatever you attempt in life, commit it to God from the very beginning. Satan wants you miserable, exhausted, joyless, and overwhelmed.
