Why Am I Suffering, and How Can I Get Through it?
Click here to send me a text message.Have you been through a tough season of suffering? Are you experiencing significant suffering right now? In this episode, I wrestle with why we suffer, and share realities about suffering that can help us get through it.Some of the Scripture I reference in this episode:“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy” (1 Peter 4:12-13).“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope” (Romans 5:3-4).“For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” (1 Peter 2:21).“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, & establish you”  (1 Peter 5:10).“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4).“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction…” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).If you're interested in learning more about me, or to schedule a counseling appointment (either in person, or remotely using Zoom), or to arrange a speaking engagement, reach out to me at my website at www.robboram.com, or text or call me at (805) 312-8715.

Click here to send me a text message. What makes you mad? How do you handle your angry feelings? Is it sometimes OK to get angry? What does God say about anger? In this episode, I examine reasons we get angry, I discuss "righteous" vs. "unrighteous" anger, and I share some practical strategies to help you better manage your angry feelings. Some of the Scriptural references included in this episode:“People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.” (Proverbs 14:29, NLT)“Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.” (James 1:20, NLT)“But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.” (Jesus - Matthew 5:22, NLT)“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.” (Ephesians 4:26, ESV)“God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” (Psalm 7:11, NKJV)“And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.”(Mark 3:5, NKJV)“But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.’”(Mark 10:14, NKJV)“Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” (Proverbs 16:32, ESV)If you're interested in learning more about me, or to schedule a counseling appointment (either in person, or remotely using Zoom), or to arrange a speaking engagement, reach out to me at my website at www.robboram.com, or text or call me at (805) 312-8715.

One Critical Key to Emotional and Relational Health

One Critical Key to Emotional and Relational Health
Click here to send me a text message. What is the "secret" to being emotionally healthy? Why are some relationships better and more satisfying than others? How come some people are so much easier to get along with than others (and, vice-versa)? In this episode, I discuss the one essential factor I believe answers these questions. The bad news is not everyone has it; but, the good news is each of us can develop it.  Here are some of the Scripture references I include in this episode:“Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.” (Psalm 51:6)“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”(Proverbs 4:23)“And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”  (Jesus - Matthew 7:1-5)The heart is deceitful above all things,And desperately wicked; Who can know it?I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind” (Jeremiah 17:9-10).“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,But the Lord weighs the hearts.”(Proverbs 21:2)“Search me, O God, and know my heart;Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me,And lead me in the way everlasting”(Psalm 139:23-24).If you're interested in learning more about me, or to schedule a counseling appointment (either in person, or remotely using Zoom), or to arrange a speaking engagement, reach out to me at my website at www.robboram.com, or text or call me at (805) 312-8715.

What Can I Do to Stop Being So Anxious?
Click here to send me a text message. Are you struggling with anxiety? Do you ever wonder why you're so anxious? Are you frustrated and discouraged because you can't seem to get over it? In this episode, Robb analyzes  reasons why we experience anxiety, discusses what God, in His Word, says about anxiety, and shares several practical strategies to cope with it, including a surprising perspective you may not have considered before. Some of the biblical passages referred to in this episode are:"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6)."And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground" (Luke 22:44)."Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10)."Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6)."Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).The exercise I mentioned to specifically cope with a panic attack is called the "333 Rule."
