Podcast Therapy: Why Do People Love Podcasts So Much?

Podcast Therapy: Why Do People Love Podcasts So Much?
The reasons why people love podcasts is pretty subjective. For starters, they could get attached to the host and tune in every episode just to hear what he or she has to say.Perhaps the podcast features valuable guests you don't want to miss.Maybe it's because every time they listen, they learn something new that can be implemented into their life on a personal or professional level.Hell, it could be because a podcast allows for an escape from their everyday life...even if for a few minutes. It could be any of these reasons or something completely different, but there's one common denominator that makes podcasts such an important part of people's lives:Podcasts are passive. That means podcasts can be consumed without one having their full attention dedicated to said consumption. You can put on a podcast and take a walk, get in a workout, make your morning or afternoon commute more enjoyable, even get some chores around the house completed. All while swinging to the sweet sounds of your favorite podcast content provider.Podcasts play a meaningful role in people's lives because they enjoy the content while partaking in something else they enjoy. Or, at the very least, a solid podcast can make the not-so-enjoyable moments a little bit easier to stomach. This is why you can't ignore bringing a podcast into your business practices. The connections you build are too powerful to forego. In this episode of Solo Podcasting Simplified, it's another installment of Podcast Therapy and, just like the title suggests, I'll be sharing why people love podcasts so much, as well as why you can't ignore building a podcast of your own based on that love affair.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com

The Important Pieces of the Solo Podcasting Puzzle You Can't Ignore with Mickey Anderson
Having a podcast is great. The value it brings to your brand cannot be overlooked or ignored. The connection you build with current and potential clients is profound and each episode you publish provides further social proof that you're a true thought leader in your niche that people can learn from. You also have an amazing opportunity to connect with fellow like-minded professionals, thus amplifying your reach and expanding your network.A podcast serves as a consistent, reliable content distribution channel that allows you to effectively project your message to a targeted audience and communicate how you can help them achieve the transformation they seek. The content found within your podcast can be repurposed and utilized on other channels, such as websites, blogs, YouTube, and social media. This, in turn, fuels the growth of your brand presence and moves you closer to closing new business, thus fueling more growth, and so on, and so on.And when your podcast is of the solo variety (meaning you're the primary voice on the majority of episodes delivering value, wisdom, and transformative insight), listeners who resonate with your message will feel the impact from you...and you alone. Building a solo podcast directly related to your brand and leveraging the content you create to the fullest extent is going to provide you with a bona fide path to connectivity with current and potential customers the likes of which you've never experienced. That type of impact is impossible to exclude from your overall brand-building strategy. In Episode 012 of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I'm proud to share the mic with this podcast's first guest, the Marketing Closer herself, Mickey Anderson. Mickey is a wealth of knowledge on content strategy, marketing concepts, and how to best use solo content to position yourself as a resource your industry needs.Join Mickey and I for an in-depth conversation about:Solo podcast strategyHow to use solo content to position yourself as a thought leaderThe value a podcast adds to your brandThe importance of using your content to amplify your website presenceClick here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreConnect with Mickey on her websiteThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com
Podcast Therapy: The Truth About Consistency In Podcasting Revealed

Podcast Therapy: The Truth About Consistency In Podcasting Revealed
Consistency is vital to success in podcasting. The more consistent you are with content creation, actively communicating with listeners, and having compelling, captivating conversations with guests (when and if you feature guests), the more well-rounded podcaster you'll become. You'll also develop and hone skills that transfer to other aspects of your life, including but not limited to how you communicate with friends, colleagues, clients, and loved ones, and how you present your message on stage, on conference calls, and in virtual and in-person meetings. But consistency in podcasting doesn't just refer to a commitment to mastering your craft.Consistency is also about being there for your audience when you say you'll be. When you bring new content to your audience on a consistent basis, they will not only get more invested in the content you produce, but they'll begin working this content into their routine. For example, if you publish new episodes every Thursday, a loyal listener will use their time at the gym or on their morning commute to consume your latest release. They expect it. And when it's not there, they will find something else to fill the void. When that happens, you run the risk of losing that listener and it may be hard to get them back simply because they only have so many hours a week to dedicate to podcast consumption.Maintaining consistency will keep listeners in place and continue to establish a high level of trust with each of them. But it's also important to understand that consistency in podcasting does not mean you need to overextend yourself and let burnout creep into the equation.Episode 011 of Solo Podcasting Simplified features the next installment in the Podcast Therapy series and I'm revealing the truth about consistency in podcasting.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com
Here's Why I'm Breaking Up With Social Media (For Now)

Here's Why I'm Breaking Up With Social Media (For Now)
Social media has woven itself into the fabric of society. At this point in time, is it even possible to imagine a world without it?The sheer connectivity networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc. have brought to our lives cannot be overlooked, overshadowed, or under-appreciated.I've been part of the social media vortex since the early 2000s since MySpace wasn't just a thing, it was the thing.Hell, if you go back into the late 90s (yes, I'm totally dating myself here), I was all over the trailblazing outlets like Yahoo! Chat, AOL Instant Messenger, and ICQ. Those platforms may not have been considered social "media," but they certainly served as a precursor to the far more cutting-edge, innovative networks we inhabit today.Over the years, I've leaned into social media heavily. From extolling its virtues through a small social media marketing company I operated with my best friend to once claiming you don't need a website if you have a strong social media presence on a podcast (crazy, right?) to leveraging it in a variety of ways both personally and professionally, social media has been a major part of my life.So why, after all this time and all this love for the world of social media, have I made the decision to break up with these platforms? In Episode 010 of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I share why I've made the decision to break up with social media and focus my attention where it can best serve you. I also share some commentary on the state of social media and why this is the right time for me to make this move.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com
Podcast Therapy: Success In Podcasting Begins With Mindset

Podcast Therapy: Success In Podcasting Begins With Mindset
Why do so many podcasters fail? There are a number of factors that can contribute to a podcaster pulling the plug on their show in the very early stages. Many times, new podcasters enter the fray with unrealistic expectations about podcasting being easy and the whole world showing up to listen just because a new episode was published. In addition, new podcasters often get fixated on download metrics and believe this is the only way to gauge success for their show.Sometimes, podcasters get overwhelmed with the amount of work it takes to manage and maintain a podcast, meaning they didn't properly plan time into their schedule to carry out the tasks of production, communication, and promotion. And in some instances, new podcast creators venture too far outside their zone of genius and try to create content that doesn't excite them or doesn't speak to their target audience, causing them to become disengaged, burnt out, and unhappy with the act of creating new content. These are just a few potential reasons why someone may abandon their podcast efforts......and each of these items could've been avoided if these creators took time to establish a winning mindset before they ever pressed record.Episode 008 of Solo Podcasting Simplified features your first dose of Podcast Therapy! I'll be airing these therapy sessions weekly to help you with various aspects of podcasting. In the premiere installment, I'm zeroing in on what I feel is the most important element of successful podcasting: establishing the right mindset.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com
Niche Down 'til It Hurts: Why You Need to Be Laser-Focused With Your Content

Niche Down 'til It Hurts: Why You Need to Be Laser-Focused With Your Content
The digital landscape you and I exist in today is filled with a plethora of answers and information as far as the eye can see. What's good about this is the fact that answers are always at our fingertips. What's bad is it can get incredibly difficult to filter through the minutia of content thrust upon us to find relevant information that resonates and brings game-changing wisdom into our lives. If you're a coach or consultant who's adding content to the mix in any capacity, it's incredibly important not to get lost in the aforementioned minutia and, instead, generate content that serves a specific purpose and connects with people when they intentionally search for it.Let's break that down...Simply posting a link to your most recent podcast episode, blog post, etc. on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. will do little to bring new listeners over to your show...as you may have experienced. With the sheer amount of content that's being spilled on to social media simultaneously, it can be next to impossible to even get your posts seen...let alone have them break someone free of their 'scroll hole' to listen to your podcast. But if you build content for a specific purpose that's aimed at a specific person looking to solve a specific problem AND you build it in a way that's SEO-friendly and easy to discover when intentional search is conducted, your chances of making a genuine connection and gaining a loyal follower/listener/viewer/reader increases dramatically. When you DO make connections on social media, your first step should be to move the conversation to a channel where you have more control (i.e., an email list). And you have a much better chance of making that happen if you give your new connection exactly what they're looking for. This can be accomplished with a solo podcast, but the philosophy of niching down, providing more focused content, and leaning into an area of specialization transcends the podcast medium and should be applied to everything you do.In Episode 007 of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I break down why getting laser-focused with your solo podcast content, as well as the products and services you provide your customers, will help you cut through the noise and stand out in a crowded digital landscape.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com

4 Impactful Ways Coaches Can Stand Out With a Solo Podcast
If you're a coach or consultant, you spend a great deal of time providing assistance, guidance, and motivation to your audience. And that audience most likely consists of people in your inner circle - the ones who've taken the step towards investing monetarily in your knowledge and expertise - as well as your those who are part of your ecosystem, but haven't yet made any sort of financial investment in your guidance. Both serve as tremendous assets to your brand and speaking to each entity with clarity and confidence will strengthen your relationship with existing customers and clients while building trust with potential ones as you move them closer to the transformation they seek.Solo podcasting can serve as a key catalyst for relaying your message and establishing strong relationships that grow your brand. This method of content creation should not be overlooked by any coach or consultant due to the effectiveness each episode carries with it.In Episode 006 of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I share four impactful ways you can use this the solo podcasting approach to your advantage and turn your podcast into a primary resource in your coaching and consulting business.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com

An Inside Look At The Solo Podcaster's Mastermind
What is a mastermind? If you've ever read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, you're fully aware how much stock the great author and thought leader puts in mastermind groups. In fact, his belief in these groups is so strong, he feels anyone who strays from the power built within said mastermind is destined to fail.As the legend states:“Maintain perfect harmony between yourself and every member of your mastermind group. If you fail to carry out this instruction to the letter, you may expect to meet with failure. The master mind principle cannot obtain where perfect harmony does not prevail.”According to The Success Alliance, mastermind groups offer a combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability, and support to sharpen your business and personal skills. A mastermind group helps you and your mastermind group members achieve success. Members challenge each other to set strong goals, and more importantly, to accomplish them. There's no question that training has gravitated more towards the group setting in today's world as collective groups working with synergy have proven to produce tangible results for those involved and engaged.Strength in community and having consistent support and encouragement cannot be overlooked. That's why I built The Solo Podcaster's Mastermind. In Episode 005 of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I provide an inside look at The Solo Podcaster's Mastermind and give you all the reasons in the world to join! Throughout this episode, I'll explain the aspects that make up the mastermind, the skills you'll take away, and how we'll work together to get your podcast launched or retuned within 60 days.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com
The Most Common Mistake Podcasters Make That You Can Avoid

The Most Common Mistake Podcasters Make That You Can Avoid
It's inevitable that somewhere along the lines in your podcast journey, you're going to make some mistakes.None of us are immune to it and no one in this space has built anything with absolute perfection. And there's nothing wrong with that. Perfection is boring. Mistakes aren't a bad thing...as long as you learn and grow from them. But too often in the podcast space, those common mistakes are ones that lead to creators throwing in the towel far too soon. They let mistakes derail their efforts and they bail before any true growth is felt or real breakthrough experienced. The numbers don't lie.According to a thread on Reddit:90% of podcasts don't get beyond the 3rd episodeTo be in the top 1% of podcasts in the world, you only need to publish 21 episodes of your podcastThose are scary statistics. But they're also reassuring statistics for podcasters like you who are ready to proceed with reasonable expectations and a strong plan of action for growth, consistency, and success. You may have heard people say the podcast medium is oversaturated or there are too many podcasts in their niche to stand out.But in reality, the number of podcasts producing new content consistently is a small fraction of the total number of podcasts listed. And, most importantly, no other podcast on the planet features your unique story, your unique perspective, and your unique way of making connections and bringing value to someone's life. While others are making mistakes and letting it deflate their ego, you're learning from yours and capitalizing on each one so your next production is poised to make you stand out.On Episode 004 of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I break down some of the most common podcasting mistakes creators make with their show. I also share my thoughts on a mistake myself, along with many podcast creators and producers, are making today as we speak.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com

3 Bulletproof Ways to Speak With Confidence As a Solo Podcaster
How important is it to speak with confidence?Very.Confidence is everything!Think about it...When's the last time you bought something off someone who didn't have the confidence to fully explain what you were investing in?When's the last time you were persuaded by a public speaker who had no confidence in their ability to deliver their message? When's the last time you believed your kid when they told you with a shaky, unconfident voice they didn't eat the rest of the cookies when you weren't looking? When you speak with confidence and project your message with power, it draws people in and keeps them engaged in what you have to say.The solo podcast stage presents a phenomenal platform for telling stories, sharing insight, and moving people who resonate with your message closer to the transformation they seek. But if you fail to speak with confidence and get them fully invested in your philosophies, it's going to be extremely difficult to gain traction and establish yourself as a go-to resource in your niche.Episode 003 of Solo Podcasting Simplified is all about gaining confidence in your content delivery and channeling that confidence to connect with your ideal listener in an undeniable way. Solo Content vs. Guest Content: Which Approach Is Better?
Jul 11 2023
Solo Content vs. Guest Content: Which Approach Is Better?
Does solo podcast content trump guest-driven content? It's the great debate.Which form of content creation is better: solo-based content that keeps the spotlight firmly secured on you and your expertise or guest-driven content where impactful conversations captivate listeners?Saying one is BETTER than the other without context is pretty difficult because each approach serves a purpose. For example, if you're brand new to your industry/space/niche and want to boost your notoriety, collaborating with like-minded thought leaders in your arena will help you do so at a faster pace. You also get access to that thought leader's audience and, hopefully, that additional exposure will put a few more eyes and ears on your initiatives going forward. On the flip side, if you want to firmly position yourself as a thought leader that people seeking insight on your area of expertise can turn to, keeping the focus solely on yourself with solo podcast content may be the better way to go.Your podcast may not feature a back-and-forth on a particular subject due to the lack of guests. But you can make up for that by confidently delivering an impactful message for your audience to learn from. This, in turn, helps you establish a stronger level of trust and connection with every listener that presses the play button. In Episode 002 of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I'm taking a look at both sides of the equation - what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of solo podcast content, as well as guest-driven content...and when does it make sense to lean into one or the other?Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com
The Undeniable Benefits of Solo Podcasting
Jul 10 2023
The Undeniable Benefits of Solo Podcasting
Of the millions of podcasts currently in existence on planet earth (both active as well as no longer producing content), the vast majority of them were built with the popular format of hosts welcoming guests onto their show for impactful conversation. This approach, of course, has its benefits:Guests help split the dialogue so the host doesn’t have to do all the talkingGuests bring a new layer of insight and perspective to each episodeGuests give you an opportunity to tap into a new audience (as long as they share the content once it’s live)But often times, podcasters overlook some of the disadvantages of featuring guests on their show. Including, but not limited to:The guest will be the featured thought leader for each episodeFinding guests and preparing for interviews can be time-consumingGuests may go silent after your recording and do nothing to help you promote once it’s liveMy belief is this: since the majority of podcasts are built with a host-guest dynamic, new podcasters feel this is the best (maybe even the only) way to produce their soon-to-launch show. And I get it. It’s a template that’s worked for years and it makes sense. But what it really comes down to is your overall brand objectives.Do you want to be the go-to thought leader that people in search of the transformation you know you can deliver turn to?Do you want to use your podcast to build an unbreakable bond with your listeners, giving them an outlet to establish trust in you and your message?Do you want more freedom and flexibility in your podcast production initiatives? Then producing a solo podcast is the only way to fly!In the world premiere episode of Solo Podcasting Simplified, I'm going to share some of the undeniable benefits of solo podcasting, as well as set the table for what you'll learn and discover as future episodes of this podcast go live.Click here for this episode's feature blog post, resources, and moreThank you for being part of the Solo Podcasting Simplified experience!Watch the video version of this episode on YouTubeSchedule a Podcast Clarity Session TodayLearn More About The Solo Podcaster's MastermindSchedule a Free Discovery Session with JasonTheme Music courtesy of Alex Grohl via pixabay.com

The Best Way to Grow Your Audience That Most Podcasters Ignore
Sep 27 2021
The Best Way to Grow Your Audience That Most Podcasters Ignore
One of the biggest things podcasters are concerned about is growth. No matter how many listeners you may have, chances are...you want more. And why is that? Mainly because we believe the bigger the audience, the better the chance for monetization. Landing a big sponsor or advertiser is linked to audience size, so it makes sense. The funny thing is we get so consumed with getting more listeners who haven't shown up to listen yet that we neglect the ones who already have. It's crazy...and definitely a subject we could talk about for days on end.But let's keep the focus on growth. There are several ways to go about it...and they all point to bringing your listeners to another platform to engage with them. And, in addition to that, there's a very important approach to growing your audience that many podcasters overlook. On Episode 135, Travis Brown and I break down a few ways you can grow your audience. Additionally, we cover the big one...the strategy you need to move to the top of your priority list if you want to grow your audience exponentially.
