Guest preacher Rob Lee delivered this sermon based on Hebrews 4:12–16 on Oct. 13, 2024. Rob is a pastor, author and public theologian. As a collateral descendant of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, Rob has been active at the intersection of faith and the public square since the 2017 protests in Charlottesville, Virginia. In 2020 he testified before Congress regarding Confederate monuments, and he has appeared on MTV, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CNN and NPR. Raised Methodist, Rob was ordained in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and holds standing in the American Baptist Churches. He has preached at Harvard’s Memorial Church, the University of Chicago’s Rockefeller Chapel, Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Boston’s Old North Church and the American Cathedral in Paris.
