Nutrition for Optimum Human Performance Part 2
Eat this! no, eat that! With so much confusion about what foods we should be eating, I wanted to release a 2 part series on nutrition that focuses on the basics of nutrition. We are going back to school for nutrition re-education! In this episode, In this episode, I talk about the importance of managing blood sugar,  supplements I use that have helped me, and the mindset needed to accompany you on your lifelong health journey. BLOOD SUGAR Stabilizing blood sugar levels  give increased energy, diminished cravings, more stable hormones, improved moods, improved body composition, better muscle to fat ratios, improved quality of sleep, better skin health, reduced feelings of stress and improved feeling of well-being and vitality. THINGS THAT RAISE OR DROP BLOOD SUGAR ARE waiting too long to eat, starving yourself, chronic stress, over exercising ,too much processed foods, eating too big of a meal, wrong ratio of macros , and eating too fast.  SUPPLEMENTS https://www.mitolife.co/ https://www.mitolife.co/products/digest-it-all https://www.mitolife.co/products/pufa-protect-mct-oil https://beekeepersnaturals.com/collections/all/products/bee-pollen?gclid=CjwKCAjwmf_4BRABEiwAGhDfSZdZQBzrY6YYs2CeBmD8QZp5nJXMaRvVxBHI5lsUHRmtp4YFFtgaBBoCbBwQAvD_BwE https://www.amazon.com/Powerfully-Improves-Prostate-Protects-Cardiovascular/dp/B079N44L9C MINDSET Examine your current limiting beliefs around health. Think about all the pain these disempowering beliefs continue to give you and will give you in the future. How will you look 5-10-20 years from now if you continue to hold these beliefs. When you are ready to leverage the pain, create a more empowering belief. A belief like the past does not equal the future will go great lengths in serving you on your health journey.  Change your language habits. Don't use the word diet and instead assume a new identity. "This is how I eat now" instead of "I am on ____ diet". Utilize the phrase 'I don't" instead of "I can't".  Remember the 80/20 principle. 80 percent of what you eat should be clean foods, the rest whatever you choose. This principle can be applied to many stretches of time- 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 1 lifetime! This gives you the freedom to live and the freedom to easily get back on track when you fall off  the wagon. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/diego-cruz-baker/support

Nutrition for Optimum Human Performance Part 1
Eat this! No, eat that! With so much confusion about what foods we should be eating, I wanted to release a 2 part series on nutrition that focus on the basics of nutrition. We're going back to school for a nutrition re-education! In this episode I talk about the macronutrients , protein, fats, and carbs, and also discuss the topic of vegetables and how to prepare them right. PROTEIN Animal protein (meat, eggs, dairy, warm water fish) is far more nutrient dense and bioavailable to the human physiology than plant protein. But not all animal protein is the same. Preferably it is best to buy grass fed beef or humanely raised eggs but if you cant no biggie. Mix up the sources of protein, leaning more towards animal protein than plant protein FATS PUFAS SINGLE HANDEDLY WRECK THE HUMAN BODY.  ELIMINATE INDUSTRIALIZED PLANT WASTE FROM YOUR HOME AND LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF PROCESSED FOODS YOU EAT. THEY SLOW DOWN YOUR METABOLISM AND WRECK THE THYROID AND YOUR HORMONES ALONG WITH IT. INSTEAD USE SATURATED FAT TO COOK WITH- COCONUT OIL,TALLOW, LARD, BUTTER, GHEE ETC. SATURATED FAT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO BE PRO-METABOLISM, PRO-THYROID HEALTH , PRO-IMMUNE SYSTEM CARBS You could not tell from looking around these days, as carbs are being painted as the bad guy, but they're actually necessary for optimum human performance. The body and brain both prefer using glucose as energy. Yes the body can run on fat but doing that induces a stress response, which if drawn out long enough will equate to consequences. The best carbs to use for energy are the simple ones- fruit, honey, maple syrup, fruit juices, root vegetables and even white table sugar are all perfectly acceptable to be eaten.   If you are coming from a low/ no carb diet, add carbs back in slowly as suddenly eating high carbs will result in unwanted weight gain. Work your way up from simple ones to more complex ones like potatoes and rice, Processed complex carbs like pasta, grains, donuts and cereals should be heavily limited or even removed VEGETABLES Carry with them anti nutrients and must be prepared in a certain way to deactivate them . Peel the skins and cook vegetables to deactivate the nutrients. And oh, stop juicing every day, That green smoothie you make a habit of drinking is doing more damage than good to you IG- @diego_cruzbaker https://www.amazon.com/How-Heal-Your-Metabolism-Happiness/dp/1511585625 --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/diego-cruz-baker/support
Language Forms Our Reality

Language Forms Our Reality
"Words form the thread on which we string our experiences." -Aldous Huxley  The words you speak hold power. Power to create and destroy. Power to build relationships or  tear them down. Power to lift people up or pull them down. Power to lift your spirit or magnify your fear. Psychologist have found that the subconscious mind interprets what it hears very literally . The words that come out of our mouth therefore create the reality we perceive- for better or for worse! Unfortunately we have not been taught of the power our words have. We unconsciously sabotage our success simply by using language that undermines our successes and amplifies our problems. This diminishes our ability to handle sticky points in life. Our external environment is often a reflection of our internal world, which shows up in how we speak. If you use positive language/vocab- about yourself, your ability to learn new skills, to achieve goals, and manage difficulties- then that's what tends to show up externally. Conversely, if you're continually saying things that affirm incompetence, echo hopelessness, nurture anxiety and fuel pessimism , then that will also shape your reality. Over time your world will morph to mirror your words. Take back control of reality by deliberately using empowering words rather than devaluing and deflating yourself. It all starts with conscious awareness of our language patterns. CALL TO ACTION Next time you're in line at the grocery store and the clerk ask how you are doing, change up your response. Instead of merely saying "I'm fine, I'm ok" , use a more empowering word and watch the reaction of the clerk! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/diego-cruz-baker/support
