Episode 6 - On the Beach
In our final outing, Jasper makes his mother proud by pirating the audio from an entire scene of the 1959 film "On the Beach" in an attempt to explain why he named a song about his friends after a cold war story about nuclear war. After a brief A.I.-narrated reading of a recent Facebook marketplace interaction, we close by returning to where it all began.Hear the song at http://jaspersloanyip.com/

Episode 5 - Oleander
In our penultimate episode, Jasper explains how the COVID-19 pandemic shaped the recording of Strange Calm, followed by a hastily researched history of the Mellotron. Then, he calls up bandmates Alex and Stephanie to gauge how they feel about the album on which they do not appear. We end with an explanation for why he named a song after a poisonous flower he has neither seen nor smelled, set to an acoustic cover of Daniel Romano's song "Roya". Episode 4 - Silver Lining
In episode four, Jasper reads a short story he wrote about the 72-hour panic attack he had while on tour in Germany in 2017 with his bandmate Devon and his wife Amanda. Afterwards, he explains why he chose to share this story in spite of how poorly it reflects upon him. Hear the song at http://jaspersloanyip.com/

Episode 3 - Strange Calm
In act one, Jasper presents a rather long tour through his back catalogue revisiting every instance in which he has written a song about looking out a window. Act two features some thrilling tape about spending 2018 being “busy doing nothing” before diving into a dubious home-brewed theory about the relationship between art and the subconscious. We end with a monologue about the benefits of letting go of control (just, you know, in general!) and a phone call with Jasper's bandmate Owen where they mostly discuss tone. Episode 2 - Gin Fizz
We open on a white sand beach... Jasper recalls a perfect day on Koh Tao that ended with a Gin Fizz. Afterwards, he talks about learning how to scuba dive before waxing philosophical about the nature of the human soul. The bigger picture starts to form after paraphrased retellings of the two ghost stories that deeply affected his long held beliefs about the nature of "reality". We end with an unscripted monologue that (somewhat successfully) brings these seemingly disparate elements together! Hear the song at http://jaspersloanyip.com/

Episode 1 - Halcyon Dream
To start things off, Jasper takes us back to Christmas morning 2014 and the best gift he ever received before discussing (at length) the magic of the Wurlitzer 200 Electronic Piano. Afterwards, he calls his friend Wallgrin to reminisce about a writing session they did in the fall of 2019 before closing with an impromptu monologue about his tinnitus.
