Re-Releasing one of my favorite episodes so far. In this episode I am joined by Alexis Devine, the woman behind the viral sensation "Bunny the talking dog".   Alexis is the pet parent of Bunny the talking sheepadoodle and Otter the poodle. Inspired by speech-language pathologist Chrisitina Hunger's work with her own dog,  Alexis began training her dog Bunny to speak using an augmentative and alternative communication device ( A.A.C)  otherwise known as sound buttons. When Bunny was about six months old they joined a study with the comparative cognition lab at UC San Diego, which studies whether or not non-humans are able to express themselves in language-like ways .  Much to the delight of millions of followers, Alexis has been documenting her journey with Bunny and Otter on social media all along the way.We talk a little bit about the science behind these buttons,  her journey with Bunny and Otter, and some of the lessons she has learned along the way.Photo Credit For Alexis and Bunny : Lance ReisUseful Links :Official website - https://www.whataboutbunny.comFollow Alexis Devine  on Instagram -https://www.instagram.com/whataboutbunny/Follow Alexis Devine on Tik Tok -https://www.tiktok.com/discover/bunny-the-dog?lang=enBunny's favorite talking buttons -https://fluent.pet/?aff=2They Can Talk.Org - http://how.theycantalk.org/c/homehttps://www.fenzidogsportsacademy.com/index.php/courses/24660https://aggressivedog.comhttps://kimbropheylegscourses.thinkific.com/courses/legs-applied-ethology-family-dog-mediation-professional-course How Stella Learned to Talk by, Christina  Hunger - https://amzn.to/3blejxMSupport the show If you are enjoying The Baroo Podcast you can now support the show by buying me a coffee. Special Episode: What is Happening in the LA Animal Shelters?
In this special episode I chat with Aleksandra Schiffer, president and founder of the Los Angeles non-profit I Stand with My Pack (https://istandwithmypack.org/). We chat about the animal shelter crisis that is happening in Los Angeles right now. With a record number of dogs — upwards of three times the normal rate — being relinquished, abandoned, and dumped, shelters are at capacity. Some shelters are housing as many as five dogs in kennels made for one, and the euthanasia rate is quickly rising simply because they do not have the space or resources to care for these dogs. In this episode I chat with lost pet psychic, Hilary Renaissance. For over 20 years, Hilary has been helping pet owners worldwide locate their lost or stolen beloved pets. She is also able to use her psychic abilities to consult on behavior issues, health and wellness concerns, as well as  helping pet parents share messages with their pets that have crossed over the rainbow bridge. We chat about when she realized she had this ability,  why we should be mindful of some of the expectations we may have of a pet psychic and how she can help us improve the relationships we have with our pets. She also shares some of her amazing  success stories!Helpful Resources: https://www.calmpet.com/Support the show If you are enjoying The Baroo Podcast you can now support the show by buying me a coffee.
