Nurah Speaks

Dec 11 2017 • 35 mins

In this episode of the Nurah Speaks podcast, Nurah challenges to consider prayers of our enslaved fore-parents and if our actions today are an answer to those prayers. This episode features clips of United States Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey wherein he addressed the legacy of slavery in Camden, New Jersey and the U.S. at large. Over 800 slaves arrived in Camden via three waterfront locations and slave markers were placed this week at each location by the Middle Passage project. New Jersey is recorded to having as many as 12,000 slaves. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/27/nyregion/slavery-memorial-marker-camden-nj.html Nurah Speaks is a weekly podcast that tugs at the soul and consciousness of the black community.  Nurah Speaks listeners will hear unique perspectives on topics such as education, youth empowerment, women's impact, community engagement, youth violence prevention and more.   If you would like to engage with the show, submit your listener questions to questions@NurahZaheerah.com.  Listeners can also learn more about Nurah by visiting her website:  http://NurahZaheerah.com and reading her blog: http://www.nurahzaheerah.com/blog Nurah can be followed on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/NurahZaheerahMuhammad and on Instagram @NurahZ20.
