Admit it: you’re obsessed with royal families – watching them, gossiping about them, wanting to be them. It’s the stuff of fantasy. But for real life royals, the crown jewels can be more like shiny handcuffs. There are expectations and rules – and if you break them, the consequences are big, and very public. And no, we’re not just talking about Harry and Meghan. There are royal families and wild royal tales from around the world and throughout history that you have never heard before. From Wondery comes the latest from Even the Rich co-hosts Brooke Siffrinn and Aricia Skidmore-Williams. Even the Royals takes us inside the cloistered world of royal families, past and present, where wealth and status often come at the expense of your freedom – and maybe even your life. In these stories, very human emotions, like jealousy, love, disgust, have the power to reshape the world.

Even The Royals is a podcast that combines history, great storytelling, and scandal. Brooke Siffrinn and Aricia Skidmore-Williams dreamt of being princesses when they were children. The hosts fantasized about wearing fancy gowns and going to elaborate balls. But as they grew up, that fairytale dream disappeared. It didn't take Brooke and Aricia long to realize that the real lives of royals are not that great.
Being a part of a royal family is more like a job than a lifestyle. Most people don't choose it and must follow strict rules for their entire lives. Worse, if they break the restrictions or fall in love with the wrong person, there are dire consequences. Not only does it hurt the royal's public persona, but it can also change the course of history. This podcast details these happenings.
The hosts are both experienced podcasters and comedians. Brooke studied improv at iO West improv school. Aricia performs with several troupes in LA, including the Upright Citizens Brigade. They also host two other podcasts together, Even the Rich and Rich and Daily, and won several awards for them.
On Even The Royals, Brooke and Aricia scour history for the best stories about royals. The hosts examine the Medieval, Victorian, Elizabethan, and even Imperial (China) eras. They share stories about the world's kings, queens, and wannabes around them. According to the hosts, this program offers a mixture of Succession, The Crown, and real life. It explores the complex lives of royalty while exposing the titillating drama.
There are episodes about Marie Antoinette, Grace Kelly, and Rasputin. However, other parts of the show focus on lesser-known royals. For example, one segment features the account of Thai Princess Ubolratana. Brooke and Aricia detail her love story with a commoner. With each episode, the hosts present their research about the royals' lives, struggles, and disgraces. Their expert narration, sound effects, and humor create an engaging experience. It is a podcast that puts as much emphasis on gossip as it does on historical facts.
New episodes of the Even The Royals podcast come out on Mondays.
